The city that never sleeps. Light's bright as the sun, the flow of cars jamming the streets with the occasional rallying of horns. Towering mounds of steel to extend the horizon for miles.
Yet at the top of the towers was something one might not think to find. Serenity, peace, and fresh air above the smoggy expanse below. That and a nice bird's eye view.
A sigh escaped the lips of a spandex-clad individual, leaning against a spire with legs crossed and arm's folded. Blowing the silken blonde hair out of her face, the green eyed lass peered through her mask, the famous red and blue littered with white web adorning a shapely figure. "Oh, come on, come on! Such a boring night. I could be home studying right now," she huffed. "Not a single speck of-!" She leapt to her feet, the only things anchoring her to the scraper, her head pointing east. A grin stretched her lips, and she scrunched her legs, bent her arms and leapt off the building, a whirlwind of hair falling to the unforgiving ground. The faint blue and red off in the distance had grabbed her attention as she spiraled. The zip of silk snatched her from the air, yanking the twisting and turning silhouette towards the source like a moth to a flame.

That source would eventually lead to an alleyway that was just under the old metro-rail network that looked in front of the narrow passageway. The alley was as typical alleys were, narrow, dotted with sizable puddles of murky water that can soak toes, and a large dumpster to the left-end of a pizza restaurant. The gentle wind didn't give it the same peace and tranquility as the skyline gave to the web-slinging heroine, as the calm air in the narrow corridor was interrupted by the frantic sound of footsteps hitting the pavement and running as fast as he could to the very end of the alley.
Heaving breathing escaped from the frightened lips of a young man that was of average height, if not a little short (at least 5,9), and his gray hoodie was stained a bit with sweat as he kept running in his blue jeans and black sneakers. His blue eyes looked at the dumpster and he skidded to a halt behind it. A perfect place no doubt, and when he peered out of the back, he found no one else following him, just an empty corridor and all. He let out a sigh of relief and ran his hair through his shaggy, brown hair. He managed to throw them off, at least for the time being. He rifled through his hoodie and pulled out an envelope, smiling as he looked at the money in his hands.
"Heh, I can't believe that actually worked."

"Well what do we have here?" she said to herself as she twirled around a pole, launching off of her hands and on the edge of a roof, crouching spider style. But the lights didn't draw her attention, it was more on the man that ducked into an alley just as she arrived. She snuck on all fours deeper into the alleyway, keeping to the darkness and hanging onto the walls by fingertips and toes to get a closer look. "'Heh. I can't believe that actually worked.'" came to her ears, and she bit her lip. He seemed innocent enough, but she had made that mistake before. She tilted her head back and stifled a grown before extending an arm. As he looked at the envelope, her fingers curled before a string of silk launched from her wrists. The force struck both of his hands and the envelope to the side of the dumpster, followed by her hair dangling in front of his face as she lowered herself upside down. "Hiya there. How ya doing? I hate to be a bother, but... you mind telling me how ya got that there?" she asked in a cheerful mood.

The young man let out as yelp as he suddenly had his back against the dumpster, his hands now covered in some cool, sticky substance. Upon closer inspection of his covered hands, they looked like spider silk. But, no spider could make that sort of silk unless....unless...
It was then did he suddenly see the masked face of the famous heroine of the big apple herself, making him gasp and almost swearing under his breath. He looked back at her with eyes of awe as he realized that he was indeed in the face of spider-woman (or girl? They seemed to flip-flop that on the news). He smiled nervously and chuckled in the same nervous measure. "Ummm, trust fund?" He said with a nervous smirk. Okay, he knew that he wouldn't work on her at all, but what was he suppose to do? He just had to get caught at the wrong place at the wrong time, and now this girl obviously saw him as a potential thief. Well, he was a thief, but not the type that she's thinking of.
"Look, I know what this looks like, but I got it from some gang that's probably gonna find me if you don't let me go."

"Oh? A crowned Robin Hood, eh? That's an interesting one." He couldn't see, but he could tell she grinned from ear to ear. Lowering further to the ground, her face was level with his, and he he got a good view of her bosom even in the dim light. "Honorable as that may sound, and not matter how much joy that brings to my spider heart, I'm afraid that we're not in the woods, and I don't see very merry men around these parts." She tilted, now standing before him with hands gripping her cocked hip. "And to stoop to their level disappoints me," she frowned, her tongue clicking as she shook her head.
She stooped down, taking the envelope from the silken trap, peering to the alley's entrance. "Well, you might have lucked out-" she started, her form suddenly tense and ducking to sit beside him. "Gah, spoke to soon. Happens every time," she whispered, and he could see her hands blurred with activity before a few thwips flew by him and to the wall. He could make out a thin line of blue light stretch across the alley, just barely visible, followed by a couple of grey balls rolling to a halt a few feet from it.

The young man gulped a bit as she playfully admonished his actions, and with her eyes meeting his as well. He did his best to not let his gaze fall down to her bosom as he considered his options. Well, he could just talk his way out of this one, and the whole "Robin Hood" routine wasn't really his own idea, but what can you do at this point? He mentally cursed to himself as the envelope was peeled from him, basically robbing him of the one source of income he could use for himself. Well, she did say that he lucked out, so maybe he could cut a deal to-
Any thought about a possible break's cut off when he heard a few thwips go by him and the wall, and when he looked, he could see the blue streak and the two grew balls that just rolled a few feet from them.
"What the..?" He said in confusion at the gray balls. "What are those? Smoke Bombs?"

Just as the words left his lips, her hand covered them, and put a silencing finger to her lips. Then she shook her head before the sound of huffed men caught her ear. "You got the bomb part right," she whispered. "Now pipe down, and we might be able to finish our lovely chat. Those are concentrations of my webs. One touch and caplooey. Now if you'll excuse me, time to put on the act." With that she zipped to a dark wall, poised with limbs restless. "Gangs... Well, if they weren't here, I'd be out of a job for the most part."

While the young man nodded and did his best to stay quiet (which is hard to do with two gray balls that could've blown him up had they struck him or near him even), Amy would see the running shapes of three men. Each varied in sizes, and the trio wore lather jackets that hid white tanks tops and navy blue jeans. They also wore red bandannas over their mouths and army helmets with goggles covering their eyes. The biggest of these men moved to the center, pulling out a pistol and checking the amount of bullets that were in the revolver. The other two to his left and right pulled out a large knife and a shotgun, respectively.
"You sure he snuck into this alley?" One of the said to the center guy.
"Of course. I saw the little punk trying to sneak his butt in here after he used his chem-balls to blind us and get away with MY money. Trust me boys, he's gonna wish he didn't waste his energy running."

"Chem-balls?" she asked herself as her lips curled in puzzlement. "Oh if this kid wasn't in danger he's following in my footsteps... sort of. I'm touched..." she said, putting a hand to her heart before shaking her head. "Focus, focus. This is no time to fantasize." She rolled her eyes at the anticipation, the trio mere steps from the trap she placed. If one of them were to just pass the blue line, they'd be snatched and plastered to the wall in a silencing heap of her webs. Though the gun complicated things, and she hated those nasty knives to slice through her hard work. She exhaled in frustration. "Oh, you're gonna regret this, you always do...." she groaned before vaulting into the air, twirling to land perfectly on her feet and giving the gymnastics stance, out in plain sight. "Hiya boys. I couldn't help but notice those lovely accessories. Really brings out your eyes. But you look a little lost, seeing as this is a friendly neighborhood. Perhaps I can help you out?" She wasn't even phased at the shotgun or the burlier man in the middle, almost eerily cheery despite the dark and dangerous setting.

The three men stopped when the suited girl just appeared out of thin air and landing on her feet in a gymnastic pose. They were quick to aim their weapons (or really, just the ones that held the guns) at the spider heroine, but they didn't fire just yet. As long as she kept her distance, there would be no reason to. However, her surprise arrival did mean that they stopped walking, just mere feet from the blue line that would spring the trap if crossed. Not that it would matter much. After all, with her abilities, she could resort to beating them up, though that might be more challenging.
"None of your business, spider girl." The center man said sternly as he kept his pistol leveled on her. "What me and the boys have is a simple dispute with some thief. I don't suppose you happen to know him, being the hero that you are?"

"Aw, that's so sweet, calling me a hero," she chimed. "Pardon me for asking, but did you say, 'thief'?" She began to giggle, stifling full blown laughter. "I'm sorry, it's just ironic since I seem to recall busting some guys robbing a jewelry store with features that fit your descriptions about a week ago. But all that aside, no I haven't seen a thief around here." She cocked her head to the side. "You know, usually a.... simple dispute doesn't call for such arms as those, but I might just be a simple spider girl who doesn't know what she's talking about. But seriously, you can put those down, I'm only here to chat. I might be kind enough to look out for this 'thief' and whatever they stole, although now that I said that I forget that you guys like doing things your way that tend to get... well, messy at times."

The one masked guy moved forward with his shotgun pumped, snarling out at the fit of laughter. Where did this girl get off insulting them like that, especially after their won fight in court?
"That dispute's been dismissed from the court, spider-girl!" He growled out in utter contempt. "You'd do well to not joke about our means of getting money, especially when it comes with good lawyers!" A single wave of the center mans hand stopped him from moving forward. "Easy..." He uttered calmly, never keeping less than an eye on the cheerful girl that seemed to want to keep this talk going on for as long as she like. He knew that something was wrong if she's wasting their time like this. Nevertheless, as long as she kept her distance, he didn't feel the need to put lead in a girl that's keeping her distance.
"I appreciate your help, girl." The center guy said with a chuckle escaping from his lips. "But we don't need your help. I'm quite certain that he hasn't gone far, like..." He started to move over to the dumpster, just crossing the blue streak.

Underneath the mask, her eyes shot like saucers. She wasn't expecting him to advance so soon, and as his shoulder crossed the blue line, the short hiss echoed in his ears. A net of silk lashed out, enveloping him quickly and jostling him off of his feet and into the wall with a sudden yank. The masked maiden flinched, but if she acted now they would know their culprit was strapped to the very dumpster. She had been reckless and it was starting to show. Great, now I'm the one being messy. Stupid stupid stupid. She rushed over, holding her hands up and grimacing. "Oh, I really need to keep better track of these things. Must have left that here without disarming it. And.... does anyone else hear something? Or is it just me?" A series of beeps, slow at first, then increasing in speed and volume also began to echo. Yet she was grinning from ear to ear as she turned, the two grey balls blinking the same light blue light, and she acted surprised, jumping up and shooting her silk at each of them. "Whoops, looks like I left more than I thought, hit the deck!" she cried, jumping in the air and twirling before releasing the projectiles. One planted in the chest of the one holding the knife, and the other at the barrel of the shotgun, and a heap of webs covered them, the walls, and just about everything around them. "Oh, curse my accuracy. Sorry boys.... but I'll be sure to learn a valuable lesson for leaving my stuff behind like this. Guess I'm the messy one today huh?"
What to do about him? "Well, I guess there's no need to hide it anymore. I guess I couldn't fool you forever. Gotta give you some credit. But with those weapons I don't think this is just a simple thing. Now," she said, turning the corner and kneeling in front of the man she apprehended earlier, tearing the bonds from him and standing up. "You don't have very long to think this over, so would you like a lift or should I just leave and let you handle a wall of web and some angry customers to deal with you?"

The central guy could only hear a sound of a ball exploding before a wall of white goop just enveloped the man. He let out a muffled yell as the web flung him into the nearest wall. The sudden force of getting slammed into a wall sent a wave of great pain onto his back, and he dropped his gun with a pained groan. Not like he could move anyway, the thick webbing had made sure that he couldn't even twitch properly from getting slammed against the wall with such force. The one that planted to the knife-mans chest caused him to shout in surprise and fall to the ground, sticking there and making him trash feebly. The one with the shotgun aimed his gun at the woman, but it only clicked as the thick web clogged up the gone, and he threw it on the ground in a fit of anger.
Meanwhile, the man in question rubbed his freed wrists, considering his options. Though in all honesty, it wasn't a hard choice to make. It would do him good to actually explain his situation once they got out of here. Of course, that's assuming she would take him to any place other than a jail cell. Having an envelope of money didn't really put him in the best picture as of now, and in front of such a lovely-looking superhero too. Wait, where did that come from? Anyway, there was only one choice.
He gulped as nodded quickly. "Y-yes, let's go, and I promise, I'll explain everything." He said just as quickly.

"Of course," she said, her arm already snatching his waist. The hiss from her wrists zipped the two of them up to the rooftops. Spires, cell towers, and scattering pigeons whizzed by, wind tearing at those golden locks. A few blocks away they drifted onto the shingled landscape of an apartment complex. She stepped away from him and drew the envelope. "Now," she sighed, smacking her hand lightly with it, "while I normally send thieves and dangerous people to the slammer for this kind of thing, I'm in a mood to hear what you have to say. Though, a word of advice... I wouldn't run into a dead end alley to escape from them. I do it, well, because I'm Spider Girl and I do it intentionally. So how are you involved with those muggers?" She sat with her knees under her chin, staring up at him intently.
