"Oh, a cure is just the beginning," Amy said. "That and you could say I'm a bit obsessed with spiders. They're so fascinating, and there's so many unique species. They-" she fell short as the slight squeak of the door opened. A taller, slimmer brunette entered, hair in a long, straight ponytail and in an almost matching suit to Amy. "Well, I see the two of you are already comfortable." She had a tablet in her hand as she took a seat at the table across from them. "Amy has already told me one of her sources referred me to interview you... Jason, right? Harrieta Osborne at your service." The great head of the new company was sitting right in front of him, and Amy couldn't wait to see his reaction as she slipped to a side table marked "NEW ARRIVALS".
"So, for one of Amy's references to pick you, you must be really special. So, tell me a little about yourself."

Jason snapped his eyes at the tall brunette moving to sit in front of him and he managed to keep his jaw from dropping to the floor. He's actually staring at Harrieta Osborne, the CEO of Oscorp itself! He immediately straightened himself out in his chair and cleared his throat. No sense in looking sloppy in front of the woman who would literally decide his fate.
"I like to think I'm one of a kind." He said with as calm of a grin as he could make. "Well, I am a high schooler and quite a chemist. I've been living on my own for a couple years ever since I became an adult under the orphanage system. It's been hard making money to pay for rent and all, with what limited abilities I have."

"One of a kind, you say?" Harrieta replied. A grin tugged at her cheeks as a light laugh escaped her lips. "Well, seeing that you're so confident, perhaps you want to show me why you are a one of a kind? The last one who said that barely slipped into the ranks around here." Her gaze briefly snapped to Amy and back as the blonde turned in her chair, mouth agape and a hand to her collarbone. "Hey," Amy huffed. "I'm still here, aren't I? I've made a better employee than some others..." Her flustered body hunched back over her work, grumbling to herself. "Well, then you will have nothing to worry about, if you can impress me." Harrieta looked him over, stroking her chin. "But I have to warn you, not a whole lot surprises me these days. Being the owner of a company you see a lot of the same. So, Jason, why should I bring you on my workforce? And I want you to show me. You might have something all these rich amateurs are missing, and even if you don't impress me to hire you here, there is still a possibility I can put in a good recommendation for you, and maybe give you a scholarship if I think some improvements will get you here. Though this might seem short notice, I'm willing to give you three days to impress me, but you only get one shot. If you rush and waste your chance, there are no do-overs." She slipped a card from the tablet and handed it to him. "This will get you beginner's access for the three days to browse, gain some inspiration, etc. And if you have any further questions feel free to ask myself or other employees. Any questions for me now?" "You're giving him three days? You only gave me two," Amy frowned. "Well I had to be harder on you, you know that. Plus I want to better his chances, seeing as he has had a rough financial past, which is clearly not your fault, don't get me wrong. I don't know what you go through personally, but I think some of the people in this place could use what you're going through, despite it's current setbacks. It makes you have a different edge that I'd like to see more of around here."

As he took the card that Harrieta offered him, his mind swarmed with information in order to sort out what had just transpired. Okay, so he was given this one chance, and he needed to make something to impress her and the rest of them in three days. Okay, that made him worry a bit. Normally, he usually would take a couple weeks to make something that looked impressive, but three days? They must really want to test his intellect on the matter if he only got 72 hours to wow the CEO of a corporation that's richer than possibly the state itself. Still, he couldn't show any nervousness or weakness right now. It was his only chance to accomplish something that would mean a great living. So, what to do after all of that...?
He looked up and gave her a big smile. "Give me a good lab, and I'll give you something great in three days." He said with a determined gaze and a hand out to shake. "And I promise, it'll be anything but ordinary."

"That's why I gave you this," Harrieta said, folding the access card in his hand before returning the shake with a firm, almost crushing grip for a lady. "Amy's lab just beyond those doors will be your primary lab. Any equipment you need just ask around, and other than that, you are in good hands, so I'll leave you to it." "Wait, my l-" Amy protested, turning around only to find the head already out the door as it latched shut," -ab? Well this oughta be good." Swiveling to face Jason, she crossed one leg over the other. "So, not that I'm trying to slow you down, but... you got any idea what you can present? I'd love to know what you can concoct in that head of yours." Deep down she was ecstatic for him, but that was her side of the spider, and she had to keep a professional flair when she was Amy Parker, which even surprised her that she made it a couple years without anyone putting two and two together.

Welp, at least he now had the resources for his project, or projects really. As Jason watched the CEO of Oscorp leave, a small drop of fear suddenly chilled his warming excitement in the core of his being. He did not have an exact project in mind, certainly not one that would stand out with the achievements that Oscorp had made over the years. He really didn't have one idea at all. What was he to do with so many ideas running through his head?
"Well, to tell you the truth...." He started to say, looking down at his twiddling thumbs. "...I don't really. Just a good deal of ideas that sound good in my head, but probably don't look impressive when I make them. I know it's self-critical, but I am a BIT of a perfectionist, and with that woman, doubly so."

"Welcome to the club of perfectionists and self-critical know-it-alls, my fine friend," she replied. "Well, you already have a solid base in chemistry. Most who take on her test haven't gotten that far. Of course, I'll fill you in on a little secret. I almost didn't get in until I found a certain little specimen." She gestured to a rather simple enclosure, littered with roses. At first, one might think it was empty, until one of the roses began to tremble. a tangle of legs resembling the stem were wrapped around it's latest catch. The bud of the rose served as the abdomen, a pure embodiment of plant and spider. "This reminds me of the spider that escaped many ages ago from this very corporation. It seems it had some offspring that have adapted over generations. I've collected a few, but there could be more out there, and the possibilities of DNA mixtures seems to be endless now. I'm sure you'll find your little golden ticket. Though, seeing as I've been promoted to 'train' you, you'll be spending a lot of your time here I'm sure. Unless you get better inspiration elsewhere."

Jason leaned in to watch the rose-like spider emerged in full with a gaze of pure fascination. The fact that a girl around the same age of him managed to collect this sort of specimen that was a cross of arachnid and plant was simply remarkable. It seems that finding a rare species of spider was a bit easier than making some sort of chemical compound that would be revolutionary. Then again, if he was around these sorts of spiders that all had a unique sort of DNA...
He looked back at her with a kind grin and a chuckle. "No, no you're fine." He said with a dismissive wave of his hand, but not rudely. "I know that this isn't exact what you had in mind, but I'll try not to get in the way of your work."
He then stood up from his chair and looked at one of the enclosures that had a sort of spider that was pure black, but with zebra striped on it's abdomen and head. Looking back at these spiders, they all had one thing in common: silk that could be used to create the finest natural kevlar. Now, this wasn't anything new at all, with the military department considering such a possibility, but if he could make a stronger variant....and there was the question of venom.
He turned his head to her, a determined look on his face. "In fact, I just got a couple of ideas, but it's gonna involve some spider milking and how strong their silk is."

"Milking? They might hear you," Amy replied with a teasing grin. "Well, if you're looking for strength, that white and black one you've had your eye on would be good. If you're looking for adhesive power I've found a smaller specimen who is unmatched." She slid her chair to a laptop, and after typing a small hiss sounded, and the enclosures began to sort through even more hybrids and original species, keeping the black and white individual in view. A small, blue spider with bands of green had littered it's containment with webs. Tools, such as gloves, tweezers, and more were plastered in a tangled mess. Several others were brought in. "I've brought a few others to maybe spark some interest. I do find it interesting that you too have found a common ground in spiders as I have. I can't wait to see what you do. I'll only pry if you ask, as I'm sure you want it to be a surprise."

Okay, now his original, child-like excitement was coming back to him. The vast amount of enclosures that showed such interesting and original spiders meant that he had so many things to play with. Of course, he would treat these spiders with the up-most care and respect, but he would need to get everything from them. He looked at the blue and green-banded spider that had cluttered the area with webs.
"Oh-ho-hohoooo." He said with an excited smile. "This will do just nicely. But I gotta prepare, a day at least to check everything and work, and then work the day after....." He was rambling at this point.

Amy couldn't believe how much he reminded her of... her. "Alright whoa there big guy, you're gonna steam out before you get started. Tell you what, write down a couple of ideas and I'll take you out to lunch, then we can meet back here. Sound like a plan? There's an Italian place I haven't been to in a while, how about you?" She had been getting a progressive headache herself, her head vibrating dully at first, and it always happened around the same time everyday. She always thought it was the stress of her life getting to her and her sense was overstimulated as she rubbed her forehead. "And if you're worried about payment, I think I can spare some for you, for I get the feeling you'll be sticking around quite a while."

He stopped rambling, blushing a bit and grinning sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head. Okay, maybe he was a bit too excited about the possibilities, but that's just what he was as a chemist. Plus, he had a few days to prove himself, so having some idea of what he could present meant a great deal of promise, if not raising his morale by a bit.
"Oh, I don't mind italian." He said with a nod, still giving her a silly smile. "Especially if it's pasta with extra cheese."

"Good, we'll take our leave, then." She locked the office before leading him to her car as they arrived at the restaurant. Once seated and ordered, Amy let out a sigh, taking a sip of her water. "Well, my head is cleared up now. So, now that we have the formalities out of the way, is there anything more I should know about the great chemist?" She was a little perkier now that they weren't in the office, and wasn't rubbing her head much at all. "Other than Harrieta and myself there aren't many young minds in the corporation. It gets lonely at times."

It didn't take long for the two to get to the nearest Italian restaurant in the city. It took at least ten minutes of walking to find it, and it was quite homey. With all the seating and ordering food out of the way, Jason looked at her, taking a sip of his water with a frown.
"Well, it's nothing special beyond being an orphan." He said quietly, looking at his twiddling thumbs. "Honestly, I had to make my own lab just to make what i wanted. I mean, I can see patterns on the periodic table and recite it backwards, and yet it doesn't help in getting a job."

"Oh I've experienced that, too," Amy said. "Not as bad as you, of course," she quickly added, "but even schools these days don't prepare you for the working world. I'd probably be in the same state if Harrieta hadn't given me the opportunity. I do hope you get in. I am curious, though. Where did you get your inspiration from? What sparked the chemist in you?" She took a long drink from her glass, allowing adequate time for him to think on it, and also taking the time to check out the place.
