The young man in question gripped her body tightly, closing his eyes as he felt the sudden rush of the wind blowing around him. That, and just the sheer drop of weight as he was swept from his feet didn't help in keeping him from tightening his grip from falling. He felt his stomach and intestines dropping and rising rapidly with every swing and he certainly didn't like it one bit. Then again, who would enjoy actually swinging around with a girl that didn't have to worry about such deadly velocities without being crazy? Well....okay, maybe some people, but certainly not him. When his guts did manage to center themselves again, he opened his eyes and slowly stepped back to look around and regain his bearings. Okay, that wasn't as bad as he thought. He at least was in some sort of apartment complex area and not flying around in the air.
He looked at her staring at at him and sighed. Welp, here's goes nothing. He let out a small shrug. "It wasn't by choice, if that's what you're implying." He said calmly, looking around as he pieced together what to say. "It's a long story, but I'll try to make it into the best summary I can give you. Basically, I don't have good financial prospects in the near-future. However, That's because I'm kind of on my own and with high school and all, I don't have a lot for rent. I know it's not a good excuse, but I saw you on T.V in my apartment and I decided to put my arts in chemistry to good use."
He pulled out a blue ball from his jean pocket and smirked. "Not much of a threatening weapon, is it?"

Her eyes rolled when he gave the 'didn't have a choice' spiel, and then cocked her head as he pulled out a blue ball. The hairs on her neck flinched from reflex, but it wasn't her sense warning of imminent danger. At least not yet. "You know, we always have a choice. While you have my interest in whatever that is, you're talking to a girl who has her own thread in a ball sized package. I'll bite though. What's this little package hold, but this had better not be a way to get out of your predicament, and I'll know if it is. I'd rather not do to you what those guys in the alley are going through right now."

"No no no, it's not." He said with a nervous laugh as he lightly shook the blue ball. "It's merely a form of smoke screen. It can suck out your breath with a light freeze, but nothing fatal. Plus, about that..." That's when his face turned a bit more somber. "I didn't imply I was working for them. There's no way in hell that I would do something like that. What I mean is, when i was young, I grew up in an orphanage and I didn't exactly know my parents. Well, I knew my mother, but that was a long time, and I haven't seen her since. Frankly, growing up without a foster family of your own does make you think about the future. Needless to say, when i turned 18, I got the boot."
He let out a sigh as he pocketed the ball away.
"After that, I had to get an apartment and think about college, but with such ugly jobs that wouldn't benefit from my knowledge, I wasn't down with that. So, being the genius on the streets i was, I went to steal money from gangs, small ones at first. I think you can fill in the rest."

A deep sigh escaped her lips. "You know, you remind me of me." She stood, putting a hand on his shoulder. "While I don't know what it's like to be an orphan, I do know what it's like to start out small with things like this. Now, while you seem to be capable, I can't go on worrying about you over and over again. And I will go so far as to say you are stooping to their level, but before you get hasty and defensive on me, I have a proposition for you. If you stop this little charade and agree to find a better, more honorable way to make your living, I can pull a few strings for you. But, if you don't and continue I will be forced to be a little less friendly, and I'd hate to lose my friendliness."

Despite the warning, the man let out a small smile at the early compliment. It's not everyday that you get compared to the spider-girl in such a regard. That said, he didn't wish to be pinned to wall of worse like the group of criminals she just dealt with. He nodded happily at the proposal.
"Sure, that would be fine." He said with a kind smile and his eyes closed. "It's not everyday I get some job offers with a superhero as a reference. Though....why me? I'm just one guy, and if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're already getting obsessed with me. It's okay, I know I'm a genius and all."

"Now watch it. I don't want you turning into them," she said, pointing briefly back to the alley. "I have a contact that might be able to help you if you can prove yourself. Now, here is their address and phone number. And to put a little more icing on the cake I might take you home if you're a good little boy."

"Jeez, it was a little joke." He said flatly as he flicked some hair from his face. He took the white card from her hands and looked at with an inquisitive frown. It wasn't a contact he knew from the white card that he held, nothing that he could vaguely call back to anyway.
"I'm nineteen, not five." He said with a shrug. "But I'm glad for your help. I didn't mean to drag you into this and all. I really just wanted to help." He suddenly remembered something: he forgot about names! "Oh dear, I forgot to tell you my name, since I met an actual hero. My name's Jason Lawson. Pleasure to meet you." He took a little bow of his head on that.

"Sorry. Tension's been a little high as of late with all of these gangs running amuck." She grinned at the sound of his name, and held out a hand to shake. "Well, Jason, Spider Girl at your service. Your friendly neighborhood Spider Girl." She rubbed her forehead, and he could tell she was at the brink of exhaustion. "Now, all you have to do is mention my name to this contact and they'll know what to do. And I do hope we meet under better circumstances next time. Now I will bid you adieu, my fine fellow." She curtsied to the man. "And most importantly, please stay out of trouble." She jokingly jabbed him with her elbow before flipping over him and thwipping into the darkness.
The card she handed to him had this written on it : Amy Parker Oscorp Trainee ***-***-****
"Oh, I really need to take a load off," Amy said, lumbering into her apartment and falling down on her futon couch. She tugged the skin tight mask from her head, closing her eyes and blowing her hair from her face. She tilted towards a digital clock, and it read 2:00am, and a groan followed. "Well, another late night, another early morning at work..."

Jason chuckled as she zipped off over him and moved through the streets and into the air. Well, this certainly had been a nice uplifter for his mood. He got help from the spider-girl herself, in more ways than one. He looked down at the card to again read the name. Oscorp? She worked at that place? That's not really surprising, since they were becoming a leader in technology development and paid their employees, even their lowest ones, quite nicely for their jobs. He even wondered at times if they would take a person like him, with his chemist mindset. Oh right, the stealing... he could just omit those points. Most of the stealing came from stealing from criminals anyway, and hey, with this sort of contact, he wouldn't have to do those things for money anymore.
With a happy smile on his face, he hummed a little tune and turned to the apartment complex on the right and went up the stairs to the second floor. He went to unlock and open the third door to his left, and he opened it to reveal his apartment. It was decently big, had a brick wall foundation, a kitchen to his left and one bedroom and bathroom to his left and right. He went down the hall and to the right, laying down on his king-sized bed and rubbing his eyes with a yawn.
"Sheesh." He said tiredly. "I keep forgetting that it's way past midnight. I should really think about doing these things right after tutoring sessions." Regardless, he closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep, leaving the window behind him slightly opened to let some air in.

Amy was seated at her Oscorp desk, her formerly long hair tied up in a bun. Before her were many small enclosures of spiders, including the breeds that brought the very existence of Spider Man to life. She was puzzling over different DNA sequences in a microscope, and leaned back. "Oh, nature you have your ways to keep amazing me." She reached for her bag to take her lunch. Jason still hadn't called her, though she knew how late they were out. She was still woozy from it all as she sighed. "He's going to be in for a bunch of surprises if I screw this up. Oh why do I keep piling my plate higher and higher?"

A loud shriek of the alarm blared in the ears of Jason, who opened his eyes tiredly and looked around with an annoyed grunt. He didn't even notice the bright rays of the sun that got into his eyes until the brightness forced him to groggily rub his eyes.
"Wha-what time is it?" He said with a yawn as he turned to look at the clock. His eyes immediately widened and his tired stupor almost was scared out of him at the time. It was 9:00 in the morning! NINE IN THE MORNING! Now, this was a Friday, and he knew that the high school he went to was closed for the day, but that's not what made him scared. What scared him was that he was suppose to go to Oscorp to meet this Amy. The card did have a small list of times where she's available, and it did say the best time was at 8:30.
And he had to oversleep by a half-hour.
He quickly tore off his old clothes to shower, and what followed is a...verbal shower-time, a leap down the stairs and him getting a last-minute taxi drive all the way to Oscorp. All this took ten minutes, amazingly enough, though his mind was going so quick in his panicked state that it was hard to tell if those ten-minutes really were that long. When he finally arrived, he was un-ceremoniously dumped out (he did have little money for the cab and called a freeloader at that) and walked towards the oscorp corporate building. It was as expensive in design as it was in power, all shiny in gray and black stones with panels of windows that spiral up several floors above him. He went inside and walked his way towards the reception desk. Okay, no need to screw this up now, even though his similar attire from last night made him look like some random nobody.
"Excuse me." He said to the nearest receptionist. "I have an appointment with one of your employees on this card." He said as calmly as he could, showing the receptionist the card that spider-girl gave him.

"Mmm, Ms. Parker. Another trainee looking to score an understudy to get good graces in the higher ups. Not like she needs it. Name, please," came a rather snarky remark from a black woman on the other side of the kiosk. "Oh, and a form of ID so that I know it's the true you." She had short brown hair and wore a tight three piece woman's suit with the OSCORP placard name tag that read Julie. "That won't be necessary, Julie." Amy stood behind her, arms crossed under her chest and giving a disappointed stare to Jason. "Though I'll have to dock for his timeliness. Is she in her office?" "Naw, she just went out to lunch. But seeing as you're her favorite little pet around here I can't really stop you from taking him in." A hazed screen that blocked his entry vanished, and Amy strutted around and gestured inside. Once they were away from earshot, she shoved him firmly against a wall. "Alright, now you won't be getting many more favors around here. You're lucky the webbed woman even got a hold of me so we could set this up, and you're lucky I'm in good standards with the lady that runs this place. But another stunt like that and I think you and I both can tell our futures goodbye." It was hard for her to be stern with him, but she had to hide her spider ways from the night before. "Now, while we go to my office, we can start with one simple question. What do you want to do with your life? You can either tell me or think about it. Oh, and now that we are officially meeting," she continued, her face softening to a sweeter smile, holding out her hand. "Amy Parker, studier of DNA sequences."

Now, her stare of sheer disappointment was NOT a good sign for the young man. He already was late, and thus almost blowing his chances to get an actual job. Now he may have ticked off the one person that could actually give him some sort of life outside of being Manhattans terrible robin hood. It certainly didn't help manners when he got roughly pushed against the wall and scolded at. He only stared at her with wide eyes, mostly nervous and a bit angry. On one had, he really had to take the blame on her being angry. He needed to be sure he was on time for important events for now on. On the other hand, he had more than enough experiences with being scolded at to where it got old, really fast. Still, that was also on him, considering that it was due to him being late.
He practically missed her friendly smile and the hand as he looked at her in slight shock. "Oh? Oh ummm..." He said with a nervous smile, taking her hand and shaking it. "Jason, up-coming chemist."

"Oh, chemistry," she said, slipping her hand away. "That's not one of my strong suits, so you just might fit right in after all. Now, if you'll come with me, the head of this great corporation will meet us in my office when she's off lunch."
As they entered, it was almost overwhelming how many spider enclosures there were, and one might think it was an obsession rather than a line of work. "Please, take a seat. We can start with.. hmm... oh I know, do you have any goals to... no the world's a bad start... perhaps the town? I'm trying to find something in a spider that can help us in every day life. Problem is I haven't figured out what yet. But I have found some unique spider species. Wanna see some?" Oh that was dumb. He'll think you're a freak.. Oh what am I thinking, my office is full of spiders, of course he's gonna think you're a freak. Might as well tell him you're the one that saved him and add on to the glorious situation.

As they entered, Jason was left looking at the numerous rows of spiders that just lined the laboratory that Amy worked in. There were literally stacks of spiders of all shapes and sizes that were closed in small, white containers, filled with moss, leaves, dirt, and some rock shelters and holes here and there. He even saw some that were trap-doors and tarantulas that were as bit as his head, if not more. Honestly, he found the entire collection all around him to be quite intriguing. When she asked her question, he nodded as he leaned back on his seat.
"Sure." He said with a smile. "I find it neat how you have so many just to find some cure or something of the sort."
