"I thought I heard gunshots. That was really in here?" Amy asked, scanning the ice rink. "You sure are calm and collected for witnessing such a thing." She almost didn't hear his question, in mid drink as she quickly put it down and swallowed. "Well, I usually take the time to unwind from my work. Nothing too fancy, maybe curl up with a good book, or if it's a really busy day I take the time to catch some z's. I know it might sound boring, but I'm not exactly much of a social bird after hours..." She traced her finger on the rim of her glass. "And I'm sure you make more of these little trinkets on your spare time? Forgive me if trinkets isn't the right word. My friend did tell me of your first encounter. She can't really keep anything to herself."

"Well, if I panic, my corpse wouldn't help anything, would they?" He said with a grin, before dropping it at the thought. "Right, not funny. I had to be if I didn't want to do anything stupid." He almost missed her answer to his question. Honestly, it was almost like what he did, but he had to share his space with other people during his time at the orphanage and so on. How funny that they were so much alike in those regards? He let a smile come back on his face as he fiddled with his fork. "Around the same with me, but my 'trinkets' aren't really easy to make. It takes a specific amount of chemicals that I have a hard time finding to make them, much more difficult to keep them from exploding. You wouldn't want to know if I have scars or not from a few. Point is, I never really had the tools to make a lot, but thanks to you, there's a chance that can change."

"Just as long as they're put to good use. Harrieta isn't exactly fond of the legacy of the company when it was used for military purposes. She's more about helping the environment and the people, though I'm sure she could handle herself if conflict were to arise." She took another drink. "I probably shouldn't be asking this, but... do you have a place to stay?"

"That's....complicated." He said, rubbing his temples and giving her a look of guilt. He hate to be "that guy" for asking for a place to stay, but perhaps he should've asked that he might not be able to pay for rent this time around. "I do, but I'm not sure if i'll stay there much longer. Rent's been getting harder to pay, and I don't have much left really. I know, I sound like a beggar, but if I don't get this job, I might as well be selling as trinkets on the street." He took a dig at his lasagna, smirking at the sudden spurt of cheese that came out of a juicy curve of pasta shell like a burst vein. "Good lord.." He chuckled out as he held up the gooey shell with his fork. "...look how much cheese they stuff in this. It's like a spoiled delight."

"The reason I asked is there is a small spot for relaxation in the lab. It's a little cozy, being there's only a couch and a recliner. Harrieta put them in place in case she sees we need a break to clear our head, calm down, etc. etc.," she said, before the cheese popped like a volcanic bubble, almost spurting her drink over the two of them, choking for a good few seconds. "Well, you did get the stuffed cheese platter, though the name doesn't really let you know that," she said, her cheeks flustered as she cleared her throat many times.
"Well, I can think of one customer that would buy your trinkets if you were out on the street corners. If a spider can see the potential in you to refer you to us, I think you have a shot. She's got quite the imaginative brain on her."

Jason did what he could to keep himself from laughing at the awkward display. Had this been a different setting, this would be funny, MUCH more hilarious even. Jason covered his growing grin and soft chuckles with his hand at the sight. "I know, too much cheese-hehe." He said through his laughing. Yeah, he was gonna laugh this up while it lasted. "When you barely get a bite for breakfast, you always order the larger platters to fill in such a depressing void in your stomach." He stuffed the bit in his mouth, humming happily at the taste as he mulled over the idea of selling his stuff to the spider-woman herself. Not a bad idea, and it would give him some ability to actually help out in fighting crime. There wasn't just the question of small-time robbers even. He heard about some super-villains that use to terrorize New York City, and she could probably need all the firepower she needed. His chemistry lessons would certainly help add more to her suit, and there was the question of her silk...
"Possibly." He shrugged off. "I mean, I seem to attract her at the 'best' of times, if those best times were almost getting beaten up or shot at. How funny that you just missed her too."

"Well, she might think I was wanting to get at her like I do my other research. She found me most of my subjects on random happenings throughout the city, and isn't too fond of them being confined, but knows it's better for them if someone with knowledge of how to take care of them exists. To tell you the truth, between you and me I think she thinks I want her in one of those enclosures...... which I wouldn't mind, but 1. she is a very slippery spider and 2. I haven't gotten to super villain level of crazy to capture her for experimentation. I've heard the stories." A bead of sweat ran down the back of her neck. He was dangerously close to putting two and two together and he had only met her today.... well in a sense.

Oh boy, another bout of laughter was threatening to erupt from his throat. Amy? Trying to capture a spider-woman and put her in one of those enclosures? What a way to introduce their odd partnership. "That's...certainly a strange way of developing some kind of partner system." He couldn't help but had a full grin in his face. "If you catch her, feel free to let me know. I already have a few ideas to help her in fighting all sorts of crime without the headache." He didn't really know how close he was to connecting the two, but it was only a matter of time, and knowing that bit on her missing the spiderwoman that just came in AFTER Amy left the room, he was certainly more intelligent about guesswork than he was letting on. He suddenly frowned. "Hey, you okay? You look a bit tense."

"Well I didn't say it was practical, which is why it hasn't happened," she said, rubbing the back of her scalp. "Guess I let a little obsession slip out is all. You can tell I don't socialize much. Well, why don't we wrap this up and return to the lab? I don't want to keep you any longer from your work, seeing as you have a big day ahead of you." She began to dig through her bag, taking out a wallet and waving the waiter for the check. "Unless you want something else with your meal?"

"Oh no, I'm full as it is." He said with a satisfied smile, patting his full stomach at the good meal. Give New York credit, it had the best restaurants that can be found only a few blocks away. "And yes, I do have much to plan for today." He suddenly had a thought. "You know, I know we just met and all, but do you think that someday after work, I could stop by your place? You've been quite kind to me so far, and I would like to know how you live."

"Whoa there, I see you're in the fast lane already," Amy said. "Tempting as that may be, it's going to take a lot for me to let anyone in at my place. I'm a homebody through and through. I keep to myself a lot of the time. This is about all I can handle usually." She averted his gaze, gathering her things as the check was returned. "Shall we be off, then? I still have some things I have to do, too." She fiddled with her bag as she stood, for there was truth in what she said. "Sorry, it's not you, I don't have much contact with anyone."

"Oh...right, sorry." He said, a blush of utter embarrassment on his face as he looked down. Of course, this wasn't gonna end the way he wanted it too. Then again, he could understand where she's coming from. Being a loner for a bit of his life, he didn't really have a lot of trust of anyone coming to his room. On the other hand, he certainly liked having some close friends that he could interact with, especially in the field of chemistry like himself. But those hopes would have to wait till they worked with each other a bit more. He stood up and smoothed out his hair. "THank you for the lunch offer. I know I haven't really made a good first impression."

"Now don't down yourself too hard. The way you handled the CEO's interview left her in a good mood. I'd hate to see the sorry folks that get on her bad side trying to get recruited." Amy escorted him back for the day, and minor chatter broke the awkward environment until they parted ways.
"Well, off from one job and onto another, even though I had to merge shifts. AGAIN." The blonde rubbed her forehead, deeply sighing before sifting her hair through the mask, snapping the suit into place and rubbing her wrists. "Though twice in the span of a couple days with the same guy is bound to cause more trouble than it's worth." She leaned from the roof of a scraper, leg dangling off the side in the classic spider pose, letting her hair billow like a flag in the fresh air. "Alright, now to get your game face on, and see if this little baby will pick up anything." She shook her head, gearing up for the evening before extending a palm. A digital hologram screen projected in front of her, giving a bird's eye view of the city just a few blocks away from her. "Alright, little bot of mine, what is on the agenda today.... Minor robbery. No, cops already handled that...... The restaurant I already saved..... a break in. Turns out someone locked themselves out..... Why is it when I'm ready for something nothing exciting happens? Yet when everything is going down the drain the universe just piles it on.... Or it's being nice and giving me the day off, BUT....... I really can't risk that." She paused, rubbing her neck. "Alright, maybe some swinging will do me some good. Clear my head and get me to stop talking to myself." She leapt, swan diving snapping through a series of buildings, parkouring fire escapes, occasional clothes wires, and streaking through a flock of pigeons. "Ah, who am I kidding, I'm one of the best people I know to talk to. But if there's something and this Jason guy is there a third time then something is definitely out for him. Karma or something. Now, come on, give me something good on the menu, Momma is hungry."

Meanwhile, Jason had taken the time he had for free to go for a jog down-town over Time Square. The day itself turned out just fine for the most part, and they talked as usual, the boring technicals. Well, being a chemist, the technicals that pertained to a big, fancy lab didn't bore him in the slightest. He got a good handle for the lab, met some of the spiders (well, most of them really), and finally managed to finalize his ideas together. The only thing that gathered in the basement of his mind during his walk was the lingering doubt about his two ideas being enough. It was only a pair of them, but he would strive to make them the best her could offer in a span of two days now. The first day meant brainstorming, and the second meant to create what he knew. He could only hope that it was good enough, and he couldn't screw this up. Above all, Amy's glow around him seemed....strange. She wasn't mean or anything, but quite informative and helpful for the most part. However, when they talked about spider-girl on their breaks, she seemed quite skittish. Was she hiding something?
"Okay Jason, maybe she's just nervous about being in contact with spider-girl all the time." He sighed out, wiping out a line of sweat from his head. He kept jogging down the sidewalk towards central park to make a roundabout there. "It's nothing major, I mean, what would I do?" As he asked this, he had managed to make it to the entrance of the park. "Aaannnd you're talking to yourself, great." He said flatly before he noticed something odd: there was some sort of black ambulance, but it didn't have any markings. Odd, wasn't it? With a confused frown forming on his brow, he slowly walked over before being forced to go and duck behind a tree because he saw some markings of two flashlights. He could hear two voices moving towards the ambulance van, forcing him to maneuver himself to the rocks so he could be hidden and just be able to see the two men.
When he did, that's when he could see the two people from behind the rocks. They were wearing military-grade hazmat suits, with gasmasks and two flashlights in each hand. One of the suited men also had some sort of glass canister on his back. Jason could hear the two conversing a bit as they moved near the van.
"Ugh, why do they send us to find something that never stays in one place for too long?"
"You're telling me. Let's just be lucky that it's only one out there."
"Even if it does find someone, it'll be quick to catch it after it finds a host."
"You know how those...things react. Unless you want every news and military brass-hat on us, I say we find it quickly."
"Host"? "Things"? What were they talking about? Jason suddenly had a foot snap on a twig, causing one of the two men to look in Jasons direction and pull out a pistol.
"What the...?"

"Ugh, not even a simple robbery. I guess it's not my night," Amy said, perching on a water tower spider style. As soon as she did, though she heard the cocking of a pistol in the park not far from her. "Oh, yes, now we need to see this. And hope everything will be fine, of course."
She crept along a wall, soon finding the black vehicle, then the men and the strange canister. One of them was approaching the trees, the gun drawn.
"Excuse me, boys, I really don't think it's Halloween to be wearing such ridiculous outfits," she chimed, lowering upside down from the rafters. Someone had caught the attention of the man and she wanted it averted immediately. "And I don't think you have a license to be carrying such a large containment. Might I ask what's in there?"
