"Now you're awake," said a voice less than pleased. Haru was giving her 'guest' a tired look. For all his screaming and thrashing woke her up. Even if he wasn't sleeping up next to her. Haru rubs her eyes. Around the human and beast the nest was a mess. All of Jesse's moving in his sleep threw the materials all around them. It was like he was making a snow angle in the grass. She stands up and gives herself a shake, shedding some of the plant stuck to her body and clothing. Using her fingers she worked to groom and pick the last bits from her hair.

He put a hand to his face, embarrassed. "I'm terribly sorry. I never meant to cause a disturbance..." he looked around. The whole cave was a mess. Did he do these things in his sleep on a regular basis? No, he would have rolled off his bed or thrown off his blankets with that force. No, there was something else making things worse. Probably his nerves about the pact.
"I'll clean this up," he said, gathering some of the pieces nearby. He hoped his face wasn't betraying his morbid embarrassment. He'd mastered a poker face, sure, but blood levels were another thing entirely.

While he cleans the mess of their nest he created, Haru walks over to a different side of the cave. A corner she never moved over to since she brought Jesse in. She pushes on the wall and a large boulder moves to the side. It opened to a cavern that lead deeper into the cave. "I have to do something. You get that cleaned I'll be back in a moment." She goes in without another word.

He nodded, then continued to gather the various pieces. How many more tunnels were connected to the cave? Could there be an entire network? He arranged the parts together the way he remembered the bed-not too shallow; not too uneven. He wondered what else could be in the caves, considering the luminous crystals and such.

Haru walks the narrow passage. The further she went the warmer it got. She wiped away some sweat that began to bead her forehead. "Next time I will have the human come down here. I may need to start referring to him by his name. A servant but I can be more respectful. Only a beast, not a barbarian." The gargoyle stops when she reached her destination. The mountain had many tunnels in it. The reason it was warm was because it was a volcano and still active. However there was a natural spring of water pooling near. It cooled the lava inside it enough to keep it from climbing up to erupt. That was one of the reasons for the steam underneath the floor to the cave Haru used as her main home.
After a few minutes Haru comes back to the main room with a clay pot in her hands. Inside was still glowing lava. The jar would have melted from the heat but for some reason it withstood the intense heat. "Jesse I have a task for you. Over there is a vase of water. The one as tall as your hip. There is a bowl near it. Get some water in the bowl and come over here." She stands over the stop were the hemal remains were and the cracks in the floor.

"Alright then." He went to the strange vase and took some water. What she could possibly want with lava, molten or cooled, was anyone's guess, but he supposed he would find out soon enough. Was that all that was in the other cave? Lava? Well, it would certainly explain the temperature. "What should I do with it?"

"I need to mend the cracks so place the water slowly on the spot i place this." She starts pouring the lava onto the cracks she had cut into with her claws. The oosing melted rock took shape in the cracks like it was a mold.

"Oh, I see." He helped with the water, careful to avoid coming in contact with the lava at all costs. Steam hissed from the cracks and the room quickly grew warmer, suddenly making him regret the vest.

The lava cooled and hardened sealing the cracks perfectly. She then turns around and slams her tail on it. The rock was still warm but not enough to hurt from a short contact. The pounding flattened the mount and made it at the natural level of the cave floor. "Done," she said. "Let's eat, I believe that for the day you have more questions you want answered. Maybe more about the ruins. Perhaps I should take you back to them, since I'm unable to answer." Haru kneels down to where the rest of their dinner was. The meat was cold but it didn't stop her from tearing off a piece and taking a bite.

"Thank you. I would appreciate that," he said, preparing the tools he'd brought in his case. The reason he'd come to this place was to deal with reports about demons and save humans from such threats... And yet, he arrived to find the whole area had been abandoned for ages. Something wasn't right. Were the reports false? That seemed likely, but then who would have the motive to invent them to send him on a meaningless trip to the island? He thought about what Haru said about there being demons she avoided. Could whoever was responsible for the forged files be attempting to send him to his death?

The island was indeed wrapped in a strange mystery. The beast he was chained to might not have all the answers. But could be his guide to finding them. It was strange for human structure to exist yet no humans were there to live in it. Haru eats to her fill. Again not eat too much so her stomach doesn't weight her down. "Are you not hungry?" she asked seeing he hasn't come for the meal she offered.

"Hm? -Oh, I've just been distracted by something. You see, I have a suspicion that someone deliberately lied to me in order to make me come here..." he explained the forged files, then quickly ate a light breakfast to get his energy up. "...I just don't see the point, you know? Why here? Anyway, maybe the town will have more answers. I certainly hope it will, because I'm running out of leads."

"Don't you outsiders know this island is the confinement to many many monsters? Where any soul to come on this land will perish if they are to stay?" Haru licks her fingers clean and wipes her lips. "I'd leave myself if I could. But it doesn't seem we can. I heard whispers. A creature that had wings like me tried to fly across the ocean. But they didn't get far. They only passed the first waves and just dropped like a stone into the water. I do not understand nor do I know if its true."
Haru stands up and gives her body a shake. "I do not need to hunt for a while. Even with you here in the need to share my meals, I can easily obtain another for us given my rank. I take it you have demands seeing as it must be your turn."

He nodded. The news that this whole island was a demon prison of sorts was more than a little disconcerting, but there were humans at one point. Now he'd just have to investigate that and see where it led him. What would he search if it have him no answers? Was there really much he could do at this island? Still, only one way to find out. He'd had tougher cases before.
But this wasn't a case. It was a setup, and he knew it.

There was indeed a mystery to the island. One that someone took great care to bury it from ever being found. Haru walks over to the cave entrance and pushes the rock away. "We can go now. Do keep on your toes. I have to watch myself well enough." Haru was going help let him down and then he can begin his search. She would keep close of course since he was her servant and she was the only one of them that can get away quick with help from her wings.
