"Wait! What about the town? What happened there?" Part of him thought he should end her like the other demons, but he restrained himself on account of her intelligence. Some demons had minds like those of humans, and if they were benign, he had moral qualms about killing them.

"I do not know, nor do I give much of a care." Haru opens her wings when she looked down at the human's feet. She noticed a darker color on his pants than it's dyed color. She gives a sniff and indeed she could smell it. The smell of blood and it wasn't from the lizard in her arm. Many animals can tell a person's sent apart and she could smell two different blood scents. "Your bleeding," she said in a low caring voice.

His eyes widened. Sure enough, there were dark splotches against his slacks. Upon closer inspection there were a few light scratches, which would explain why he wasn't in great pain. They were, however, bleeding profusely-most likely whatever had cut him also used a decoagulating agent to stop the blood from clotting. He applied a bandage, hoping he hadn't been poisoned.

When the hemal slapped him with it's tail it managed to make a small cut. But that wouldn't account for how it was still bleeding. Haru looks to the human and to where she wanted to head, which was her den. She was the type normally to just mind her own business and not worry much of other's issues. After all it's a hard life on the island. Almost a survival of the fittest. Just like her many creatures of the island have a strong sense of smell. His blood will attract other beings. Though it shouldn't worry her much for how high she was in strength. Yet as she stood there she was curious. Humans don't come to this island. But he didn't seem to be a normal human with how well he handled himself with the other demons. Not only that but he was interested in the humans that lived here. She had never seen a human on the island but could see they must have before. And to go off his weapon he brought, he must be something more than normal. "Your blood will bring in other beasts. I'm interested so I will help." She marches over to him and holds out the hemal. "Hold this and I'll take you with me."

It was a strange proposition, but one he couldn't refuse. She would know the forest better than he could hole to, and he had the opportunity to ask more questions. It would certainly beat searching blind in miles of dense undergrowth. "Alright, I'll do it." He took the hemal. It was heavier than it looked, but not too much trouble. Her claws had pierced an organ of some sort-what appeared to be it's liver. The gargoyle was experienced, and he couldn't afford to let his guard down.

Haru stands behind Jesse and slips her hands under his armpits. She wraps her arms around his torso. "Be still. Your going to be heavy and I am offering to help, so don't make me drop you." She tightens her hold and flaps her large wings. Dust was kicked up from the mini tornado from her wings. The two lift up into the air. Haru flies over the treetops for flying through with a body would require too much maneuvering. Something too hard with a heavy load. She had purposely left his weapon, not wanting to arm him and added weight.

He was confused at first, but went along with it. He got a bit nervous about heights, and he realized too late that he'd left his scythe. He made a mental note of the direction they were taking so he could find his way out later. Of course, the forest was much bigger than he'd thought at first. Trees stretched out in every direction for miles on end. It gave him a headache just imagining how long it would take to navigate something like this, let alone conduct a thorough search. But her words still troubled him. If the town had been abandoned for years-and it certainly looked that way- then where did the reports come from? Frustratingly, every answer here seemed to lead only to more questions.

Haru keeps flying passed the trees, coming closer to a tall mountain. She flies right to it till she reaches a hole in the wall. There was no ledge at the edge to the hole. Haru lands at the very edge and pushes the human inside. She lands softly on the solid ground herself. The hole wasn't big, just enough room for the two of them. "Stay still," she told him. Haru places both hands against the far of the wall and pushes. The wall goes back showing an opening big enough for a person to enter like a normal house door frame. "Come inside and don't forget the hemal." Haru enters. The cave was dark with only the light from the entrance to illuminate the place.

He entered cautiously, his eyes darting to every corner of the room to make sure nothing was waiting to get him. He may be curious about what she had to say, but he didn't trust her-far from it. He set the hemal down inside, glad to be rid of it's weight. Interesting, he thought. The house more or less resembled that of a human. Where was the line between savage beasts and intelligent abhumans, anyway?

Haru walks over to one of the walls and brushes some dust away. Under the crushed stone dust was some hard crystals that gave off a pale blue light. She moves to another wall and does the same action, brushing away dust. The crystals were embedded in the wall as if they grew there. They were a specialkind called Lava glace. They are formed from volcanoes, similar to other types of gems like diamonds. However these type get made with a special added ingredient melted by the lava. Scientists still have yet to find what it is for the material is rare in itself. Haru claps her hands together to wipe away the dust from her palms. There was now enough light to brighten the cave for when the sun goes down. "Now we should stop that wound before you stain my whole cave and maybe die."

The luminous crystals surprised him, but he didn't have time to dwell on them. From his vest pocket he took a surgical needle and thread, and with experienced hands he got to work on sewing up the wound-after applying disinfectant, of course. He didn't practice as a doctor much these days as he was too busy, but the skills never left him. That done, he stood up and touched some of the crystals himself, careful not to cut his finger on them. "Amazing..." his voice was barely above a whisper.

"You seemed to be well skilled," Haru said mildly. As she said that she dragged the flat of her feet along the floor of the cave. She did so with her tail too. A small layer of dirt was getting swept up, but she wasn't giving her cave a cleaning. She comes to a stop and nods her head. "Here we are." She turns on her heel and grabs the hemal. She lays the dead creature flat on the ground where she was standing before. "I can see well that you are no ordinary human. The way you battle the beasts and able to mend yourself in conflict."

"I started as a surgeon, but some crooks..." he gestured to a purple mark covering his face, "...changed me against my will. I found out just how corrupt the world is; how many malevolent demons are hiding during the day and hunting at night. I didn't necessarily want to step up to the job of becoming a hunter myself, but if I don't do it no one else will, so here I am." He watched her get ready to prepare the hemal on the floor. Apparently demons weren't concerned with bacteria... But then again, maybe they had better immune systems. "What's your story? If you have human intelligence, how are you content to live in a cave?"

"I live here because it suits my needs. Nothing can come up here unless it can fly. There are no ledges to climb up it, for I personally collapsed them. With monsters at every turn, good to have a place to rest without having to watch your back." Haru stands away from the dead animal and leaves it where she placed it. "This cave has it's own light when it is dark as you can see." She haves her hands to point out the glowing crystals in the walls. "And more." She walks over to Jesse and grabs his hand. She makes him touch a spot on a wall which looked fairly normal. But it wasn't, there was a unnatural warmth coming from it.

"This is incredible..." he said in awe. It made him wonder just how much more there was to see, if humans were brave enough to explore. Were resources like these the reason the forest was populated with demons? That was certainly the case with her, but he couldn't imagine the frogs having that sort of planning. Strange how beauty can be found in the most dismal places. "How did you find this cave? Are all of them like this here?"
