The fires eventually went out while the spiderlings and jungle girl fell asleep in each other's arms. The hours passed and the storm finally ended. Then the ground started to shake which woke up Anika. She sat up and stretched her arms out. Having lived in the jungle all her life she was able to recognize this rhythm.
"The elephants," Anika said aloud.

Amala was woken up by the shaking. "What is that?" she asked a little surprised from the sudden noises. Goan wakes up too. "Are we in danger?" he asked.

"COMPANY! SOUND OFF!" came a booming voice.
"Ugh, the only danger with that elephant is that he's too loud," Anika said in a grumpy voice but then she had an idea and straightened her shoulders. "That's Hathi. You two ever seen elephants before. Come on," She picks up Amala and holds her in her arms. "We can take a look and get back to the river after."

"Mother and father have shown us elephants. They warned us to stay away from them since were so small and their big they won't see us," Amala says. "Goan leaps and clings onto Anika's leg as she can run faster than him. They've ran near their home before and Anika always won. But Gonther told him one day he will be faster and stronger than his big sister.

Anika runs carefully out of the cave and climbs up a tree with the u=young arachnes still clinging to her.
"I get that. Hathi never really looks ahead when it comes to marching. He always has to make sure he's heard doesn't stray." the jungle girl said. "Which is a good thing, sure, but it wouldn't hurt to watch where you step." Anika climbs higher until she can see the elephants marching ahead. "Plus from up here, we can see how far we are from the mountain."

"Why the mountain," Goan asks. Despite the bouncing and jostling, the two were able to hold on tightly. Young Arachnes spend their early years riding on their parents back till they get bigger. Their grip could be as good as a young monkey riding on it's mother as she swings in the trees.

"We were close to it where we met before the storm swept us away. We see the mountain, we how far we've gone." Anika finally stopped climbing when she spots the mountain... but where she was, that mountain looked more like a hill. They had gone further than the jungle girl had thought. Anika knew this was going to take a while but she dared not show that she was worried in front of Amala and Goan. "Well, this should be interesting," she said with a smile. " At least we can see it and now we know which way to go,"

"Is it far," both children said at the same time. Both asking a question Anika would dread to answer if she wanted to keep them from worrying. The two of them, let alone all three arachine children have never traveled as far as will take them to get home. They weren't helpless, but they are not as strong as their big human sister.

Anika saw the worried looks on Goan and Amala and tried to reassure them with a smile. "Hey, c'mon, we'll be okay. We will look after each other and I will do my best to protect you." The elephants soon passed by, their steps shaking the jungle floor. "Let's go once the elephants leave."

Their journey would be a test of strength and endurance. As well as determination. The river they fell in had swept them a fair distance that could take a day's journey to return. Unless something stopped them. The question of if a jungle girl and two children Arachene can make it was not an easy answer.

After watching the elephants go by, Anika takes the two arachne children back to the river. The idea was to follow the river in the opposite direction in the hopes of getting back to the rest of the arachne family. They had now been walking for over three hours and Anika was starting to feel hungry.
"Food break," The jungle girl said. "Who else is hungry?"

Both of the children nodded their heads yes. Arachnes eat from all angles, fruit, meat, then even consume a small diet of blood. The two were at the age where they could drink blood. Since they were small still it wasn't much they would need. But the smaller you are the more often you need to eat. Goan and Amala mostly ate meat that their parents caught.

"Okay, let's have some fruit," Anika plucked some papaya and brought some for the children. "I'll find some animal to catch later so you can have some blood, but until then eat your fruit."

The kids ate the fruits they were given all while remaining held fast to Anika's body. Their species are strong clingers even young babies, almost like baby monkeys when their mother's swing through trees. The three young ones were safe yet it would only be temporary for many predators lived in this neck of the jungle. Including one that most of the jungle feared. A Siberian tiger known by the name of Shere Khan. He is well known also for his hatred of man. If he so much as knows a human is in the jungle he will hunt without rest till he claws them to pieces.

Anika traveled through the jungle by the river with Amala still in her arms and Goan walking beside the jungle girl. On the way, Anika spotted the tracks of a wild pig. A good start for finding blood for the young arachnes.
"I think I just found our next meal," Anika said. She places Amala next to Goan and inspected the tracks. "Good, they're fresh, but I'll need to move fast to catch it,"
She wondered what to do until she spots a tree. She takes the arachnes and places them in the nook.
"Listen carefully you two," Anika said. "I'm going to fetch the pig and I need you to wait here till I get back. Goan, look after your sister and don't talk to strangers, got it?"
