A Daring Journey
Archenes prefer to interact with their own kind. In fact many creatures fear them for they could be a meal. Nearly the same can be said for man. Living with their own and eating what they catch. The two are not known to get along. But in one jungle such a thing has happened. A girlcub more daring than most, bravely and foolishly crossed a Archene’s path entering their domain. But instead of eating her, the Arachne named Arca decided to befriend the child. Even making her like a part of her family.

The girl cub in question was named Anika. She was raised by the wolf back since she was abanded as a baby but Anika was a proud member of the pack and that was good enough for her. Although nowadays, her adventures took her to reach out to other animals in the jungle. Some friendly, some... not so, but out of all the creatures, Anika favored the Arachne Arca best of all. When Arca found a mate and had children things only got more interesting for Anika. While she still lived amongst the wolves she would sometimes visit the arachne family.

Arca's family was small but it made her happy still. She had her mate, Gonter. She gave birth to three archene babies. Goan and Antal were her two sons, and Amala the youngest was the only girl. When they were born they were no bigger than a wolf puppy that had just weaned off it's mother's milk. Now they were the size that would reach Anikca's thigh. Right now they were playing in their cave home with Arca, while Gonter was out hunting. The creatures of the jungle could smell a storm was coming, and archene family was preparing for it. Arca was not only playing with her children but teaching them how to spin and weave their threads. Their spinners have already begone making silk, and they would play in the sticky threads. But now Arca was going to show them what they can make with their silk.

Anika was at the water hole when a passing bird told her of the upcoming storm and then flew away. The jungle girl was aware of the danger and hurried as fast as she could to her pack before the storm broke out. She was passing a herd of buffalo when a flash of lightning spooked the beasts, they began a stampede and Anika was caught. She held onto a passing buffalo and hitched a ride on its back.

A bit of a distance away from the stampede, more bursts of lightning were striking trees. Including one over when Gonter was. He had caught some small lizards in his hunt, but it wasn't much for a family of five. Gonter would rather have found some big prey but every creature is huddled away for fear of the noise. The sounds were coming more frequent and this concerned Gonter. His instinct was telling him to go back to his family now. Still holding his catch, he hurried through the pathways, heading straight for the cave. At the cave the lighting had frightened the children and they clinged to their mother's body for protection. Arca spreads out her arms and holds her trembling children trying to calm them down.

Anika was still on the buffalo's back even as the heard moved east by the grey mountain, so named because no plants could grow on it and it was as gray as ash. The rainwater only helped darken its appearance and the jungle girl knew she had to find shelter soon or she would get sick from the cold.

Gonter rushes into his cave home. He doesn't even shake off the water clinging to his hairs, as he rushes to where his family was. "Arca! We have to leave." "But the children are afraid," Arca replied. She knew his reason must be urgent, but it would be challenging if their babies are too scared and might run from them. "Cloud rays are in the sky and it gets worse. I smelled fire. The rain will help but we should go before we become trapped." "Understood." Gonter picks up Amala and Antal, placing them on his back. Arca picks up Goan and puts him on her's. "Hold on tightly and don't let go," she instructed. Gonter tells the same to the one's on his back before walking to the cave's mouth. "Which way should we go?" "Let's head for the river and cross," Gonter decides.

The heard traveled away from the mountain and headed to the same river that the Arachne family is going to and good thing, Anika getting tired of riding the buffalo.
She hops off and gives the buffalo a pat on the side, "Thanks for the lift." she says before walking away.
Anika breaks away a huge leaf to cover herself even though she was soaking wet already and walks up the river.

The Archene family was moving at a quick pace, all while keeping a firm hold on their children. Gonter made sure his kids were in place on his back and keeping one eye on his mate. They stayed close to each other not caring about they were getting soaked from the pouring rain. ”the river,” Gonter called out when he spotted the flowing water.

Anika ran through the rain, her feet covered in mud and only her head and upper back were shielded by the rain with the huge leaf. The jungle girl continues upriver, at some point she turns her head and spots the Arachne family.

Arca turns her head for she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. Her mother instin telling her to know if it was danger, but what she saw was nothing to fear. Instead it was an old friend. "Anika! Quick, this way."

Anika could barely hear her friend over the raging river, she motioned that she would move further upriver. Maybe they'll find something that they can use to cross to each other.

Arca wasn't sure what Anika was trying to say but she couldn't go after her as her mate grabbed her arm. "We need to do this together. Help me spin a line." The two turn their backs to the water and each released a string of silk. the wind caught it and like a kite sailed across to the other side of the river. To wasn't that wide, that a good jumper could make it across in a single bound. But the achenes couldn't risk dropping a child. They were good jumpers but they wouldn't risk it and if they did miss, the river would sweep them away. Not many know it but arachne are not the best swimmers. Arca and Gonter keep going with their effort to make a simple bridge for them to cross.

Anika stopped in her tracks when she saw the arachne's shoot out there webs to make a line across the river. The jungle girl knew the risk of what they were doing and got worried.

After they were satisfied, with enough threads the two stoped and secured the threads on the end they stood on. Gonter then tells Arca to go first. He would test it himself but he had to watch their backs to make sure pred or the fire wasn’t on them. Arca carfully steps out on the thread bridge. It sagged under weight but was holding and keeping her above the water. She kept going while keeping a hold on her children. Slowly but with some guff she made it across. Arca stands on the bank and waits for Goan and Gonter.
