Anika runs over to her Arachne friend.
"How are you guys doing?" She asks through the rain.

“We’re fine.” Arca said. As she spoke Gonter starts to cross the bridge. Amala sees her friend was here with them. She reaches out a hand but doing so makes her lose balance. Arca tries to help but as she was holding Antal at the same time she wasn’t really able. Gonter sees and tries to hurry.

Anika gives a nod to confirm but then she spots the young arachne losing her balance on the rope. The jungle girl throws away her leaf that shielded her from the rain and ran up to help.
But with all the rain pelting against the webbing, the ties began to weaken and there came a few sounds of snapping.

In the struggle, Amala comes loose and tumbles off her mother’s back. She fell on the edge of the bank and water. Amala didn’t have the time or strength to grab the earth as the water sweeps her in it’s strong current. Goan scurries on her father and shoots a strand of his own silk as a line. But his movement while his father was keeping balance on a breaking bridge makes him slip too and right into the middle of the river. Gonter couldn’t catch his son. Arca cries out in terror as the water took two of her children.

Anika doesn't even stop for thought and dives into the water after the children. The currents were strong but the jungle kept trying to swim to find Amala and Goan until she saw them splashing and gasping for air. Anika swims after them just as a fallen tree rolls into the water next to them. Thinking fast, Anika grabs onto the arachne children and pulls them onto the fallen tree. They rode down the river unable to turn back or stop.
"Hang tight," Anika told the kids.

Both of the children clung tightly to the jungle girl for if they let go they would drown. Arachne are not a species known for being strong swimmers. Which is why Gonter and Arca didn't jump in as much as they wished to. For they would only drown before they would save their kids. But they raced down the side of the current with their last son safe in his mother's arms. She had taken him off her back and held in the front to hold him better.

The rapids kept going strong as the rain fell, the log bumped into a few rocks but somehow remained intact and Anika held onto the log while keeping an eye on Amala and Goan.
"Don't let go!" Anika exclaimed.
On and on they went until sometime later when the waters finally calmed down and the rain stopped but they were so far from the rest of the family.
Anika sighed. "You two alright?" she asked.

The young spiders were soaked skin and hair. They were trembling from the cold of the water and the fear in their bones. Goan felt certain he would fall and they would all drown. Amala didn’t loosen her grip on the tree still afraid of the river even though they were not in as serious danger now.

"We gotta get to dry land, fast," Anika said.
The jungle girl knew that they needed dry land and to dry these young arachnes fast before they get sick. She notises the water going a little faster and hear see the river ended over a fall. Thinking fast, Anika looks around and see's another fallen tree preached by the edge of the water. She gathers up Goan and Amala in each arm and stands.
"This is our stop," Anika says and then nimbly hops onto the other tree and quickly runs onto shore before their log falls over. "Phew, now let's find someplace dry."

Goan hops out of Anika's hand and lands on the solid ground, while Amala stayed and held on to her big sister. Goan gives his abdomen a shake to dry off. He then lifts his head and looks around. None of the landscape looked familiar, nor could he see his parents and brother. In fact there didn't seem to be any creatures out. "Where are we? Where's mom and dad?"

Anika let's Goan go and watches him shake off the water from his body while Amala holds on to Anika's waist. At the young arachne's questions, Anika surveys the surrounding jungle as well but finds that she doesn't recognize this part of the jungle either. But she couldn't let the kids worry.
"We are... a little further south of the jungle. I'm sure we will find our way back and back to your parents. Until then I'll be looking after you two." Anika said. She wipes away some of the water off of Amala's abdomen. "C'mon. Goan, do you want me to carry you too?" she leans down and offers.

"I-i'm fine," he answered quickly. He was trying to hide how tired and scared he was. He needed to act strong for his big and little sister. But truthfully his legs were a little tired from the ride down the rapids. Amala gives her tail end a little shake went she felt Anika touch her there, shedding water. At the same time the rain above was not as heavy as it was before. The trees above were providing some shelter as well. Though all three needed to get dry before they freeze and get ill.

Anika couldn't help but smile at Goan, trying to be strong for all their sakes, she broke off a large leaf and then gave it to him cover his head with.
"At least put this on." The jungle girl said before shielding herself with a leaf as well.
They walked for a while until they came across a cave. Anika handed Amala over to Goan while she went to check the cave. Seeing that it was empty, Anika had the children follow her in. They now had cover from the elements but there was a matter of trying to get warm. She took the children into her arms and held them close.

As they entered the cave Amala and Goan shook themselves again trying to dry themselves. When Anika pulled them close to warm them it didn't help. Her skin was wet and cold. "You're cold," Goan said. Amala hops out of Anika's arms as her brother was right. Twitching her front spider legs she fiddled near her spinner end and pulls out a strand of silk. Sometimes she would play with her string like people would twiddle their fingers.

'Alight,' Anika thought to herself, 'Guess I gotta take desperate measures,'
The jungle girl places the boy arachne down, she grabs some stones and gives them to Goan. "Make a circle on the floor with these and any other stones you can find,"
At some point in the storm, some pieces of wood were blown into the cave by the wind and were pretty dry. Anika gathers up the wood in her arms and returns to find the circle on the floor. She places the wood in the center.
"Goan, you and your sister cover your eyes," Anika instructed.
