"Darn it!" she muttered to herself. The fluid seeping into her was making her head a little fuzzy. Suddenly her speech was a little less reserved that it should have been. "Shrew yoush, Don-nick," her tongue was feeling a little lazy all of a sudden and was having trouble getting the words out. "Imma... gonna..." but it was so hard for her to concentrate. After a few moments, her eyes began to roll back in her head. Then everything started to go black and she lost tracked over everything else.

Dominik glances over to Scarlet, and says, “looks like she’s already set to go. Just needs to be moved.” A few moments passed before Scarlet passed out, and the man with tattoos called in two other men, who lifted the lawn chair and carried her out of the room, while Dominik carried the liquid pack and a pair of clippers.
Around an hour later, the girl was sitting in the back of the car, the tubes now removed from the vein from her wrist. Seen through the front window was a large mansion. “Wakey wakey,” the tatood man said, lightly patting the side of scarlet’s face. Dominik sat to his left, avoiding eye contact with the woman still tied to the lawn chair.

Darn it! She still hadn't woken up to the blank canvas world. Instead she kept finding herself in this reoccurring nightmare. Anywhere would be better than this. Scarlet gazed up at the mansion, having no idea what they were doing here. It certainly didn't look like a place where these lowlifes would live. But then looks could be deceiving.
She sighed as she looked from her aggressor to Dominik. She was trying to decide which was worse, the unsympathetic madman or the sympathetic guy who allowed it to happen anyway. The judgement of these two must have shown on her face. Nothing but disgust for the two of them.
Then she glanced back at the mansion. She started to say several things, but was having trouble picking which one first. Finally she settled on, "What are we doing here?" She didn't actually expect an answer, but it was worth a try. Goodness knows she hadn't been told anything else.

The man with the tattoos flashed her a yellow toothed grin, and said, “why, my dear Scarlet... the question you should be asking, is what will you be doing here.” He smirked, and turned to Dominik, who was staring down at his toes with his hands folded in his lap. The young man looked up to see his boss standing over him, and it caused him to jump slightly.
“You made sure to bring the stuff right?” Asked the tatood man. He knelt down to be on eye level with Dominik, who nodded slowly, without saying a word, and reached underneath the makeshift bench he was sitting on, pulling out a glass jar of something. It looked like some sort of white powder, which filled up the jar to about halfway full.
Seeing the jar put a smile on the boss’s face. “I maski?” He asks, using that foreign tongue once more. Dominik nods once again and pulls out a box of surgical masks. “Put em on then.” He snatched up one of the surgical masks, and put it on, wrapping the elastic bands behind each ear. “Yes Tobiasz,” Dominik says, putting on his own mask.
The tatood man now had a name, but wether or not Scarlet would be able to remember it was up to her. Tobiasz approached her slowly before reaching out with one hand and adjusting her drip line, flooding her system with anesthetics, and probably not the cleanest of anesthetics out there. He smirks before unclasping the lid to the jar, and said, “Do me proud.” Before reaching into the jar, and pulling out a pinch of the stuff. He held it directly in front of the woman, and unceremoniously tossed the powder directly into scarlet’s face, a small white cloud of dust gathered around the woman’s mouth and nose as she was forced to breath the substance.

Scarlett rolled her eyes. First it was "no questions". Now they were telling her she was asking the wrong questions. She just couldn't win with these people. Sitting there, cable tied to a gross lawnchair... nope, there was no winning. At any rate, she had no idea what was going on. What did he mean by "Do me proud?" What was that stuff he threw into her face? Tobiasz. And Dominick. It was all very strange, but she didn't really have any time to contemplate it. After just a brief few moments, the edges of her vision began to grow black. And then everything was white again...
Meanwhile...
"Alex. It has been half an hour. You will wake up on the count of three. One... Two... Three..." Cassie said, bringing her friend out of his trance. She gave him a moment to reorient himself before she delved into the long list of questions she had come up with while he was under. "So. How was it? Were there any reoccurring elements? Was it still white? No atmosphere changes? Did you have your arm back again? How would you compare this time with your previous time?" It was a long list of things she had prepared to go over, but she asked the most important question without realizing it. "Was that girl there again?" It was immediately followed with a long list of other questions, but it was quickly becoming difficult to keep track of all of them.

Alex slowly opened his eyes and stretched his arms to either side. He let out a quiet yawn as he heard Cassie start berating him with questions. “Wow, not even gonna let me get a little breather?” He asked, smiling. He was glad that he was able to return to that strange blank world, where he had his missing limb, but he hadn’t gotten to meet the strange girl this time. “Give me a moment,” Alex said, chuckling as he got up from the couch to stretch his legs. He glanced down at his prosthetic, with a look of slight disappointment that might have been mistaken for something else. He moved back a bit before returning to the couch to answer all of Cassie’s questions. “Everything was the same, well... almost everything. That girl wasn’t there...”

"Do you need a breather?" she asked almost automatically. She was only half paying attention to him and completely missed the look of longing at his arm. Instead she was furiously scribbling in her binder.
"I mean, you should not be suffering from lack of air. Breathing should be normal as a calm, relaxed state like sleeping. Though obviously different from a normal awake state. Maybe i should be measuring breathing during these trials? It would give me something to do while you are under. It wouldn't be good if someone were to stop breathing during a session." It was another long stream of words for her as she was thinking out loud. But she fell silent for a moment. It was only a moment, however.
"No girl," she muttered as she copied it down. "A shame. I'll bet it would have been interesting. If she were hypnotized as well, I should have given you some questions to ask her. Double the data points! Maybe like, how she got to be there. Maybe I'll draw you up a list of questions for in case you meet anyone else while you are there. Oh wait... you won't be able to take them with you. Or maybe you could. I'll have to consider that..." Cassie was basically already signing him up for another trial, despite her firm warnings before not to get too attached to that place.
The details of his experience were quickly fading, rather like waking from a dream. He hadn't remembered the other girl being there. Or had she? There was a faint feeling that she had been trapped. Where had that idea come from? Perhaps it was nothing.

As Cassie focused on writing down notes while simultaneously asking even more questions, Alex tried to gather his thoughts and adjust back to no longer having both arms again. “No, I’m not out of breath or anything like that... it’s just that going into your own mind is a bit more of a mind exercise than anything.” He truly did feel a lot more mentally drained than he usually did during school, though it may have been a combination of the trance and the studying for finals that was doing it.
While the brunette continued recording everything, Alex was messing around with his prosthetic limb, looking at it with a bit of disdain. The young man’s mind was reeling as he had to process the experiences he’d had in his own mind. “I mean, I guess you writing up some questions could help... I’d have to memorize them so I could ask that girl... if I ever see her again...”

"Alright. So not out of breath. But let's talk about how you are feeling. Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'mind exercise'? Just how are you feeling after this last experience? And most importantly, are you feeling up to going again with Miranda later? We could always send her separate if you are not feeling up to it." As she was jotting stuff down, mostly minor observations about how tired he looked, she was also trying to think up a list of questions for him. He could interview any other people they ran across. However, she wasn't going to send him again if it was too much for him. She considered that maybe they should give it a rest anyway since he had been going back to feel his arm again.

It took Alex a few minutes to think about Cassie’s first question. He sat there in silence for a few moments, trying to think of the best way to explain the feeling. “I mean, like, you know how you feel after a long day of studying? When you’re just mentally exhausted, but fully awake? It’s kinda like that.” The amputee looked up almost immediately as she suggested another session. The young man nodded excitedly at the prospect of going back again.
Alex got up and said, “why not call her over right now?! I’m ready to go again.” He’d already reached into his pocket and grabbed his phone, already going into his contacts on his phone so he could call his friend up.

"Hold on!" Cassie said standing up quickly. She slid her hand over the screen of his phone so that his contacts list was obscured. "You've only just come back. And you just described to me that you are mentally exhausted. And you want to go again? I think maybe you should give it a break. We can resume the testing later." She narrowed her eyes at him, feeling as if she knew where his zeal was coming from.
It felt a little like they were crossing into dangerous territory. She wasn't aware of an sort of Hypnotics Anonymous. She turned away smiling a little at the thought. She could just see how it would go for Alex. "Hi my name is Alex. And I'm addicted to hypnosis. It was my friend's fault..." That last bit was a little concerning and her smile faded. What if she was causing her friend to lose part of himself? The psychology of addiction wasn't her forte and it wasn't an area of research she wanted her project to take.

Right as he was about to put his finger down on Miranda's name in the contact list, Cassie's hand blocked him from calling the girl over. Looking up to the brunette, he realized how he was acting. Lowering the phone, Alex let out a sigh, and nodded, understanding that it was for the best that he not go back in until later. Pushing the matter wouldn't help either.
Alex simply let out a dejected sigh and said, "Got it. What time do you think we can get Miranda here?" in the back of his mind he was nagging himself to study but he just couldn't bring himself to focus on anything but the experience of being whole.

"Well we originally told her tomorrow. Which is now today. So probably this afternoon." Cassie said a little glumly. Alex would get his wish, if only he could hold out that long. Cassie was mildly worried that it was far too soon for him, but they had already arranged this, and she did need the test trial data. "Look, I need to get back to my apartment. Do some cleaning. Go to the store. Re-organize my notes... again. The usual sort of errands. Once I'm done with that, we can have you both go again." She started collecting her things to leave, not for the first time. "How about if you two meet me at my apartment later, ok?" She hardly waited for a response as she was practically flying out the door. It wouldn't be until later that she realized she had forgotten the pendant she had used before at Alex's apartment.

It felt to Alex as though the sessions were getting shorter, even though they honestly were probably getting longer. The young man understood however that Cassie had other things to do than make sure he was safe while under trance. The college student decided he should do the same as cass, and tidy up. After a while, he’d tidied up to the point where there wasn’t much left out. He decided to sit down but just as he sits on the couch, he feels something sharp poking his rear.
The young man quickly stood up and spun around looking at what had poked him. The necklace with that shiny rock was just sitting there. He picked it up and stared at it curiously, considering the possibility that he could hypnotize himself. He takes a moment, staring into the crystal, but for some reason, he wasn’t able to get the same feeling just from looking at it. Perhaps it had something to do with cass herself.

Try as he might, the pendulum didn't hold the same power over him as it had before. It would have made another interesting bullet point in Cassie's ongoing research project, but it wasn't something she had considered herself. Later that afternoon both Alex and Miranda showed up to Cassie's apartment. She had done some re-arranging probably for this very occasion. Her simple 2-seat couch was pulled out in front. And there was some soft music playing over the radio.
"Come in. Come in," she welcomed them. As they stepped inside there was the faint scent of burning incense. Which was a little unusual for her. "Sorry sorry," she said, "I thought it might help with the hypnosis to engage the other senses. However... I think this is a little too much." She went over and opened a window to allow air to circulate in the room better. "Alright. So are you both ready for this. Is there anything I can get you? Water? More pillows?"
