Despite the long journey to reach each other, neither one was fatigued... well, maybe not much. It seems like physical exertion wasn't nearly as bad as it should have been in the real world. "Oh thank goodness," she said relieved to have finally reached another person at last. "My name is Scarlet. But I don't think I'm OK. I mean... I don't know that I'm not OK... But I'm not entirely sure how I got here. Or how I can leave this place. I've been here a few times, but I'm not entirely sure where exactly I am." It was clear that she had been worrying about this for quite some time. "I can't be dead, I keep waking up. Or I think I'm waking up. Maybe I'm actually dreaming that I'm waking up again..."

Alex could tell that she wasn’t quite stable. “Woah woah there, calm down,” he said, placing his hands on her shoulders to try and stop her shaking. “It’s okay, listen, you’re not dead.” He could tell she wasn’t really all there, so he said, “Hey, look at me!” And put a hand on her cheek, making her look into his eyes, “you’re okay. Just calm down, take a deep breath, and let’s start at square one, okay? I’m Alex,” he said, pulling away from her, and reached out with his right hand, offering the girl a clean handshake. The young man offered up a friendly smile as well as he stood there in front of the brunette girl, his arms extended in a friendly gesture.

She started at him wide eyed and was breathing heavily. She stepped back as he extended a hand, as if expecting to be attacked or something. She stared down at his open hand. A handshake. She knew what that was. She extended her hand and shook his. And kept shaking it. "Hi Alex. It's nice to meet you. I think it's nice to meet you. Unless you are a figment of my imagination telling me I'm not dead. Not dead is good. But I kind of expect someone to tell me I were dead if, in fact, I was very dead." She kept shaking his hand, but she slowly seemed to realize that she was holding the entire conversation with herself and it wasn't going anywhere. She let his hand go and crossed her arms to grab her own shoulders. "Get a grip! As I said, Alex. It's nice to meet you. And Im so glad to have someone here."

Alex couldn’t help but feel slightly uncomfortable as she continued to shake his hand throughout her external monologue. Still, he wanted to be polite. When the girl pulled away and hugged her shoulders, the young man could tell she was possibly a little off the deep end, but at hearing her tell herself to get a grip, he knew she was just frightened. Maybe... The college student smiled politely as he heard her say it was nice to have someone there. “Good to be here. Why don’t we sit down, and we could talk?” He sat on the floor in front of her, taking her hands in his so she’d get the hint that she should sit down with him. “I can assure you I’m not a figure of your imagination. In fact... I think I saw you here last night. I was with someone else. Do you remember that?” This would be a great way for him to identify if she wasn’t a figment of his own imagination.

Except Alex wasn't sitting on the floor. The moment he moved to sit down, he was sitting in a plush chair. She didn't seem to notice that a chair suddenly appeared from underneath him. She nodded, still wide eyed when he mentioned the other person. "Yes there were two of you. People, I mean. Not literally two of you. I don't think you could do that here..." She took a deep breath to steady her self and sat down. But she wasn't on the floor either. She sat down on a reclined sofa. It was much like the ones stereotypically used by psychologists. As if she were a patient. As if realizing this, she look down and shook her head. Just like that, she was sitting in an identical chair to his own.

To the young man’s surprise, he hadn’t sat all the way down before something caught him beneath. It was a comfy red velvet furnished chair, with wooden button fasteners keeping the cloth attached to the structure that kept the chair together. It was quite a shock to have something like this manifest itself beneath him, but it wasn’t as much of a shock as it may have been if Miranda hadn’t unwittingly discovered it the night before. He sunk into the comfy lounge chair, and said, “So you say y-,” he cut himself off as he stared at the furniture that Scarlet had conjured for herself, before amending it to be similar to his own. He cleared his throat, trying to ignore the strange choice in furniture, and said, “you say that you’ve been here a few times... how many is that exactly?” He asked, wondering if there was something about this place that had lead the woman to this level of mental instability. He started absentmindedly rubbing his left arm waiting intently on the girl.

"Well... I guess I would say this has been my third time here. And its usually been long stretches. Or at least, it feels long. To the point where I wonder if its actually real, or if I will ever wake up..." He seemed to be studying the furniture. Maybe this wasn't helping if he was easily distracted. "Something wrong? I can get you another chair. Oh! You're probably confused about how it got here. It took me awhile it figure out how to do it as well."

“A-and how long have you been here this time?” Alex asked with a concerned look on his face. Time seemed to move twice as fast in this place, and judging by this girl’s account, she’d been spending extensively longer amounts of time here than Alex. “Yeah, it’s still a bit confusing for me. I think my friend figured it out... kinda, but you seem to know how to do it well,” the young man said. “But first, I think we should talk more before we start getting off topic. Who are you exactly? Outside of here I mean?” He asked, still stroking his arm.

"I think I only got here a little bit before you did this time. But it's all kind of hard to tell. As I said, my name is Scarlet and I am an actress. Well waitress really, aspiring actress. And a student. I'm earning my degree in performing art." She stopped speaking for a moment and looked down at his arm. "I'm sorry, is your arm bothering you?" She didn't know it was possible for an arm to hurt here. Unless someone imagined it. It was very distracting, whatever he was doing.

When the young woman asked about his arm, he stopped for a moment, realizing what he was doing, and said, “n-no, don’t mind that. It’s just... well... I’ll tell you later... it’s a long story. But anyways, that’s so cool that you’re going for a degree, but what exactly are you doing here?” He asked, his hands failing to his side as he sat in the chair she’d conjured up for him. He regarded her with a calm curious look, pondering why she would be in such a place.

She was silent for a moment as she seemed to consider it. Finally she said, "I don't know," and was silent again. It looked like she was going to leave it like that. But she decided that she wanted to share a few more details that just that. "I don't know why I'm here. I... I was on my way to an audition. And it wasn't in the nicest part of town... though many theaters aren't. So I didn't think too much of it. I remember talking to some people about it. And then I wound up here. Sometimes, I hear a voice tell me to wake up. But I'm not sure I remember much when I wake up. And I find myself here again."

This was becoming more and more strange. It seemed... different. Like she wasn’t supposed to be here. Alex looked her up and down, taking in her disheveled appearance. S-so, you don’t know where you are? I mean, like, in this place, you don’t know what being here means?” It may have been a strange question to ask, but she already seemed strange.. well, not exactly her, but her appearance here and the circumstances she described to him. The young man sat up, looking at her curiously, wanting to learn more.

If there was one thing she knew, it was how to keep a captive audience. No wait. She reminded herself that if she could keep an audience captive, then she wouldn't actually be working as a waitress. Alright, maybe that was a little too harsh. Either way, she had an audience of one right now as he eyed her curiously. A shame, really, that he wasn't a patron of the arts. She was going to have to say something profound. Something memorable. Instead, she stared back at him blankly.
"What does here mean?" She responded to his question with another question. She replayed it a few times in her mind before deciding to rephrase it so it made more sense. "I mean, is there some significance to... here? I have no idea... where I am." She fell silent as she considered the very real possibility that she might be a bit sleep deprived.

He was held there in suspense as Scarlet took her time in responding to his serious question. The suspense was mounting as she sat there in silence before her final response. When she revealed that she didn’t know the significance of this place, and that she didn’t know where she was, Alex went deathly quiet. This young woman didn’t know that she had been hypnotized. This sudden revelation was quite disturbing. Was she actually crazy? She’d have had to have been consenting to hypnosis to be sent to a place like this, right?
The college boy began stroking his arm absentmindedly, trying to think of an explanation as to why she was here. A few more moments passed before he opened his mouth to speak again, “S-so you don’t know where you are?” He just wanted to confirm what was going on here.
That’s when a voice echoed throughout the blank canvas of this place, “Time to wake up,” it said in a sort of sing song voice. Alex didn’t react to it, but Scarlet was definitely able to hear it. It was the voice of a man, who’s mere vocal patterns seemed to drive the brunette up the wall. If there were any walls here. “Ten, nine, eight,” the voice started counting down.

She was about to further cement the crazy. "No, I don't... WHAT?!? No! Not now!" She started shouting at the empty sky without any warning for Alex. "I don't want to wake up! You can't make me!" This was despite the fact that she had already experienced this once before. They very well could make her. She turned back to Alex with sudden vehemence. She grabbed him by both of his arms. "You were going to tell me something really, really important. And I need you to say it. RIGHT NOW!" She fixed started at him straight in the eye with a look of pure desperation. There were tears forming as well, though she was at a loss to explain why.
