Kaa smiled.
The serpent allowed himself a moment to drink in the girl-cub’s succulent form – utterly bare before the world now that he’d taken care of those pesky garments. Said garments were quickly and efficiently gathered and disposed just as her last article of clothing had been, tossed into the river below. His forked tongue slipped another lick across the morsel’s exposed collarbone, savoring the new flavor.
Yes, she’d make an excellent appetizer.
But first he’d have some fun.
She needed to make up for her previous behavior, after all.
A nice long walk was just the thing he had in mind…though admittedly this stroll would be a tad different than what he’d put Emiko through. Both that it would somewhat more amusing (for him, at least) and the immediate destination would prove much more…final.
High above, his stomach grumbled.
He snickered.
Oh, she has no idea.
Not that Emiko had possessed any real notion of what his plans had been for her, but at the very least he’d planted the seed of thought in her mind and nurtured her into accepting it as her ultimate destiny. Fun as that had been, Kaa couldn’t particularly find it in himself to go down that route with this new girl-cub – simply having her obliviously marching towards her inevitable doom was enough for him.
Though he needed to get her ready first.
Gently pressing a coil against the girl-cub’s spine, the serpent slowly bent her torso forward as he pulled his gaze down for the ride. Her enthralled eyes couldn’t help but follow the hypnotic lights, magnetically pulled as he bent the woman over until her upper body was nearly parallel with the ground. Whether she were capable of such flexibility prior to her partial enthrallment was irrelevant, her body muscles were more than compliant and loose enough to follow his unspoken instructions.
All the while, he pushed her deeper into the trance.
Emiko, on the other hand…

Natalie had no idea the fate that awaited her as the serpent pondered what to do with her. His decision was crystal clear to anyone aware enough to notice it. But for people like Emiko and Natalie right now...they couldn't be more blinded to their fates... The sad reality was that the moment Natalie's mind heard that little sound, her fate would be sealed... She'd have no choice but to walk right into the jaws of death if that's what it took, and she'd do it without a second thought. That...was the fate waiting for her, and Emiko as well if something didn't happen soon.
Yet...Not realizing this in the slightest, Natalie was already more than content to just...go along with whatever Kaa felt was good and right at the time. For one moment, that meant standing perfectly still while he mysteriously licked along her collar bone yet again. It was an action that granted a soft giggle before falling silent again to Kaa's powerful eyes. Shortly after this, the snake would proceed to do something else with Natalie...
Without much warning, a thick coil was placed along Natalie's back and forced her to start bending forward. It was a slow trip from her upright position to standing parallel to the branch and made even slower by the fact that she never one time broke the forehead connection with Kaa's. Yet, even in this simple act, Natalie could feel drawn in to sink even deeper into this trance... It was a silent command that she had obeyed and somehow pushed her right up to the edge of the abyss... Now standing parallel to the branch, her legs stiff, but sore under the pressure, Natalie could feel herself ready to fall... It was only a single push away from doing so...
As for Emiko however...the trance she was in couldn't have been any weaker than it was right now... Before all this, Kaa had used the trance to instill the notion of how Emiko was to be his dinner and made it seem like a perfectly natural, acceptable thing. But now...all that had mostly faded including the memory of it. At least...until the python's stomach rumbled... Somehow when that happened...it triggered at least a few of Emiko's memories...
The dazed girl froze for a moment as she recalled hearing Kaa multiple times refer to her as morsel and tempting her to be his dinner date... It was just a few minor things that scooted to the forefront of her memory, but the story it told her was crystal clear. And...Emiko found herself quietly whispering what that was not even realizing that she was speaking at all...
"...Morsel... I'm that...? His...morsel..."
...At first, something about saying that out loud seemed to bring Emiko some comfort. She strangely blushed and smiled to the prospect, even going so far as to close her eyes and start to drift off to sleep as if to dream it once more. But...her mind was far from entranced to think that for long. And...as the reality hit her, she gasped in shock... Her eyes opened wide coming to realize what that meant and for a moment all she could do was stare out into space with the rings flowing ever slower... She was so dangerously close to waking... And now...not even coiled attention would most likely bring her back...

Emiko’s mutterings went unnoticed.
Kaa’s attention was far too engrossed on the little game he was about to play with this appealing appetizer that had so rudely interrupted his dinner date. Satisfied that she had assumed the proper position, the serpent maneuvered his tail around her wrists, gently pulling her delicate hands down to the tree bark. Her limp arms responded without resistance, quickly locking into place at the unspoken command as he leaned her body forward even more. It was an admittedly uncomfortable position, but the tension on her legs was relieved as her arms accepted part of the burden.
…though it did leave her butt rising in the air.
He snickered.
She looked so foolish.
Resting on her hands and feet (as much as she could) the young girl-cub wouldn’t have looked out of place among the bandar-log…though she was much more appearing and delicious than one of those mangey monkeys. But now at least satisfied that she’d assumed the position he’d envision, Kaa pulled himself back. Her gaze still magnetically locked to his own, she had little choice but to follow as he drifted towards the end of the branch, beneath which lied the river.
His coils shifted in the trees, preparing themselves once again as he readied a little pathway for her eager appetizer.
…yet as the serpent adjusted his coils in the canopy above, the ones surrounding Emiko’s dazed form shifted. While no longer wrapped around the young woman they still twisted around her, briefly dragging her in a clockwise motion as they moved to support her friend below. Given the current state of her trance, there was no telling what sort of affect the motion would have on her slowly waking mind.
It certainly would’ve been concerning to the snake…if he had any notion it was happening.
“Come along,” Kaa hissed, smacking Natalie's rear end with his tail in a subtle encouragement. The foolish girl was already marching down the branch in her comical state, completely unaware of her imminent doom. “We’re going on a little trip so I can show you your new home!”
Deep inside my stomach.

Natalie had bent over as far as she possibly could until she couldn't any longer. Judging by the fact that her legs were wobbly just standing like this, it was clear she didn't often stretch out in this manner. So it was a major relief when the serpent wrapped his tail around her hands and forced her to do something of a toe-touch with her fingers. This eased the strain of stretching slightly, but poor Natalie was in such a deep daze that she couldn't really comprehend it.
While still absorbing those magical rings of his, Natalie had no way of knowing that all of this was to put the poor girl into a humiliating position for the serpent's amusement. Yet, she stayed in it quite obediently unable to really do anything to the contrary. At one point, the serpent did raise his head upward just a bit, to which Natalie followed to look upward. And soon, the snake began pulling backwards away from her...
With just that alone, Natalie felt the urge to move forward towards Kaa with his eyes calling for her to follow. Of course, it helped tremendously when the serpent actually instructed her to get moving. And as if that wasn't bad enough, Kaa's tail gave Natalie a subtle slap as encouragement to get moving. It was a humiliating thing that...led to an even more humiliating result...
The slap to Natalie's rear was so unexpected and powerful that...it actually triggered her fall... Barely a second after being smacked, a soft little *PING* sounded within Natalie's own mind. And in an instant, she assumed that classical look. Eyes shooting open wide with pulsing rings and a silly grin overtaking her lips... Kaa could see plain as day that Natalie had just been hypnotized and was now totally at his mercy...
That on it's own could have been humiliating enough. But unwilling to break her new pose as she was, the newly tranced girl started to waddle towards Kaa's eyes in this new hunched over position. It was slow going, and certainly comical to watch her attempt to move towards Kaa's eyes like this. But it did help to show how strong his power was in her and how much she'd be willing to humiliate herself for the serpent.
Up above...Emiko was on the verge of waking up from her trance. She had been jolted out by screams, shaken up by coil movements, and even frightened by the realization of what her fate was to be. Yet even still...those pesky rings remained to flow in her eyes. They were so slow akin to one ring every few seconds, but still there and getting slower. Emiko might actually have broken of her trance entirely within the next few seconds if not for what happened next...
Needing extra length apparently for Natalie to go on a little journey, Kaa decided to use some of the coils around Emiko to make room for that pathway. As a result, the mound in which she was resting on slowly began to spin in a clockwise motion. It was just a simple thing with a few rotations, but somehow that seemed to hit home in some ways. The soft twirling made Emiko start to feel just the tiniest bit dizzy. And that somehow hilariously was just enough to settle her trance just a little... It calmed her mind and...actually caused her to giggle sleepily in the branches with the twisting ticking her a little. Much like a roller coaster ride, only much slower and...somehow just as potent...
When the clockwise turn of her body came to a stop, so too did the giggles. But it left Emiko feeling quite dizzy and confused. Her head began to sway in little circles as she tried to get her mind straight... That would come very soon, but only if she hadn't been noticed... Heaven only knew if Kaa had heard her giggles and would come to investigate. Whether he did or not though, Kaa had secured enough length to toy with Natalie and delayed Emiko's awakening for just a bit longer... But...it was a brief reprieve and wouldn't last long at all. Especially as the memories and 'facts' came back to her...

Kaa blinked.
…had he heard something?
Satisfied that his current toy was completely enthralled by his hypnotic display, the serpent ceased their endless flow from the center of his gaze. A quick check confirmed that the girl-cub’s eyes were still awash in spirals, idiotic grin stretching across her features. As she slowly waddled towards the end of the branch, Kaa spared a curious glance upwards, straining his hearing.
Another giggle.
…lovely.
It seemed his guest of honor was waking up.
Kaa sighed.
There went all his fun.
Though the idea of simply reinforcing the trance on Emiko was tempting, he’d much rather lull her back in with his soothing words and light flashes of power. There was satisfaction in having your prey agree to be your meal with honeyed words instead of merely brute forcing it as he’d done so with her friend. But something like that would take time, and he wasn’t certain he could contain his hunger long enough.
It’d been a long night.
He needed something to eat.
“I suppose we’ll need to cut your trip short,” Kaa muttered, dissatisfaction lacing his words as the girl-cub reached the end of the branch – hand outstretched to grip the empty air with absolutely no awareness of just what that would mean for her. Said doom was quickly averted as a single coil slid underneath the girl’s outstretched belly, slowly lifting her into the air. Her arms and legs failed beneath the coil for a few moments before the realization sunk in that her little walk was being cut short. “I’m afraid we’ll need cut straight to the appetizer – wouldn’t want to spoil the main course, now, would we?”
There was no answer.
Not that he expected there to be one.
The serpent’s coils deftly adjusted the girl-cub’s position, settling her limbs against her body to provide the thinnest and most aerodynamic shape possible. Not that it accomplished much with her rather generous curves, but it would certainly make it easier to gulp her down than trying to deal with flopping limbs all over the place. Only once he was satisfied with her predicament did Kaa ready himself.
A makeshift slide was swiftly formed form his coils, tapering to an end at his slim tail.
Though that wasn’t the end of the ride.
As he rose her higher into the air to provide enough space for all the coil needed to complete this ‘little’ slope, Kaa positioned his head at the very end of the ramp, resting his neck atop the exposed scales. Confident that he’d gotten the angle right, the ravenous serpent opened his maw as wide as he could, a cavernous flesh portal into the darkest depths of the snake’s belly.
All he needed to do was send her sliding down.
Gravity would do the rest.
Though…
…Kaa may have misjudged Emiko’s state of mind.
It still hadn’t occurred to the impatient serpent just how much of his coils had been pulled away from his dinner…and had he known that she was not in fact just stirring from here trance, but rather mere moments from shattering it entirely he might have prioritized securing her.
A potentially devastating error.
…but only if Emiko could break the waning trance.

Poor Natalie... Like Emiko before her, the trance had sealed off her consciousness to understand anything beyond the general obedience that the spell compelled her to adhere to with Kaa... The serpent could literally get her to do anything and she'd be helpless to obey it. It was a tragic reality that would soon have very devastating consequences. And sadly, Natalie wouldn't even realize it until it was too late, if ever at all...
It seemed that Kaa had picked up on Emiko's faint giggles and had finally realized that she had woken up. As such, rather than attempt to subdue her into a trance again like he had earlier, he decided to cut his fun a little short.
To that end, a stray coil found itself to the waddling Natalie's body and wrapped around her waist. Moments later, she was hoisted upwards where her arms and legs suddenly went limp. Though...that goofy grin and spiraling eyes were still present on her face showing that...she didn't care. The snake was able to move and position her with out the faintest hint of resistance until she was facing head down, arms clung to her side, and legs together in an aerodynamic position. Her fate...was to soon be released onto a slide and to slip swiftly into the python's throat on her trip towards his stomach...
It was a dark reality that faced Natalie who could only stare into the face of her doom with a blissful smile. Her only chance of being saved laid in the coils that rested above them with Emiko... And as cruel as fate seemed to be for her...it seemed she might yet be spared...
To this point, it had honestly been a miracle that Emiko hadn't broken out of her trance. But being ignored by Kaa and her being exposed to so many unpleasant things had taken an enormous toll... So much so that within seconds of again being ignored past her giggles, it was over... The last ring from the trance slowly flowed through her eyes and vanished only to have her natural brown eyes be restored just seconds later... The trance had finally been broken.
As her consciousness started to return, Emiko took a moment to gather her thoughts. She shook her head hard to clear out the remnants of trance and blinked a few times in confusion. "W-wha...? What happened? Where am I?" She asked curiously before gasping as she realized her current situation. Somehow, she had ended up within a mound of loose fitting coils and...was she stripped down to her underwear!? How on earth did this happen!?
Emiko's immediate instinct was to cover her chest with her arms feeling seriously embarrassed. She did her best to try and piece together what had happened, but...most of it was a blur. All she recalled was meeting the serpent, being tempted to sleep and then...blank. Not much to go on, and the end result spoke for itself. Whatever the snake did...he had stripped her down and felt comfortable enough to wrap his coils all around her. It made her furious to think that it came to this, but...how did it happen...?
Emiko slowly worked to unravel the bounds against her body which didn't take long. The coils were all mostly off now, and save for one or two around her shoulders and waist, they were easy to remove. She was just about to get out of the mound when she leaned over to FINALLY see what was happening down below. And what she saw shocked her...
Her roommate was being hung upside down by the python's tail on a slide that led to the snake's open mouth. The naive girl didn't understand what was going on, or...how it all came to this, but Kaa was apparently trying to eat her friend! This couldn't stand, and she knew it! Somehow, she had to help Natalie before it was too late. And sadly...the only way to do it was with what she had available to her.
Acting as fast as she could with a swift idea, Emiko quickly reached for the coils that had originally trapped her. After grabbing them, she lifted them over the edge of the branch and started tossing them out of the tree one after the other. One coil on it's own might not do much, but...the entire mound that held Emiko was being pushed out of the tree. It was Emiko's hope...that this might somehow disrupt Kaa and save her roommate before it was too late.

Kaa licked his chops.
The ravenous hunger that precipitated this entire encounter now rumbled without restraint, the teasing of fresh meat sliding directly into the serpent’s gullet sending it into overdrive. He could barely focus on anything else as he tilted the coil platform his girl-cub prey rested on, allowing gravity to finally secure its grip on her and send her tumbling down the ramp into his waiting maw. Anticipation rolled down his spine as her delectable form bounced against her scales, her stiff body gaining momentum as she drew closer and closer to the serpent’s waiting stomach.
It proved to be his downfall.
So focused on his incoming feast, the snake never noticed the shifting of his coils.
…right up until they were sent tumbling from the tree.
The sudden shift in weight was enough to disrupt the already delicate grip he held in the branches with so much of his coils being utilized for this makeshift slide. Kaa barely had time to let loose a startled screech before he was sent hurdling through the treetop, skull bouncing against the various branches as he was dragged along by his own immense weight.
Any semblance of control was lost as he was knocked around the branches like a golf ball, skull rattling right up until the last blow – his cranium crunching against a particularly sturdy branch before being sent tumbling down into a rather large pile of limp coils.
He didn’t stir.
Coiling hanging limply in the tree and washed out along the river, the mighty snake was well and truly knocked out.
Though he wasn’t the only one startled by this sudden interference.
Natalie’s oblivious smile remained constant as she slipped down the serpent’s makeshift slide, still utterly unaware of how close to doom she was approaching or how lucky she was about to become. As she neared the entrance to Kaa’s gaping maw, the sudden shift in coils removed the gateway to his gullet from in front of her…though her momentum remained unabated as she was flung from the writhing tail.
For an instant, she flew.
Her stiff form hovered mid-air, spiraling eyes still gazing out into the world with the same dumb expression that all of Kaa’s victims possessed…
…right up until she struck the water.
Thankfully the river’s current wasn't particularly strong, so she wasn’t immediately swept downstream. However the sudden impact and temperature shock was more than enough to shatter the enthrallment place upon her mind, even if had been settled there not mere moments ago.

Emiko watched the chaotic scene unfold before her with a mix of horror and...humor within it. It a bit comedic seeing Kaa's coils fall to the same force he had tried to devour Natalie with. His head moved and pounded against the branches like a ball inside of a pinball machine. And it all ended with the snake falling into a perfect, yet giant mound of coils clearly unconscious. The horror of the situation though came with Natalie who had just BARELY missed the snake's mouth and ended up falling into the river. Had it not been for that moment, Emiko might have been laughing, but hysteria and concern filled her heart as her friend disappeared beneath the surface of the water.
Thankfully for Natalie, the drastic change in the temperature and sudden plunge into the liquid substance was indeed enough to break her out of her freshly induced trance. And mere seconds after being submerged, she swam to the surface and pushed out of the water with an audible gasp. After that, she gradually paddled herself towards the riverbank where she crawled up shivering. Emiko, who had been witnessing all of this began to hastily start climbing down the tree yelling out Natalie's name as she did so. Thankfully, her shouts caught the girl's attention. And Emiko only had to climb a branch or so down before she found a vine that carried her the rest of the way to the jungle floor.
Once on the ground, Emiko ran to Natalie's side as quickly as her bare feet could take her. After arriving there, she saw her black haired roommate gently taking globs of hair into her hand and twisting out the water to ring it dry. It...was a tragic sight, but honestly, Emiko was just glad to see that Natalie was all right. At least...she seemed to be...
"Oh my goodness, Natalie! Are you ok? You aren't hurt or anything are you?"
"N-no, I...I don't think so..." She'd reply back, still working to ring out her hair. "...What the heck happened? How...did I end up plunging into the river...?" She asked before gasping at the sudden realization and sight of Emiko in her underwear. "...And...why on earth are you walking around in just your underwear in the jungle!?"
Emiko wanted to answer those questions, but...she fell silent unsure of what to say. Sad as it was, the reality of it was that she didn't know why she was like this or...what had happened. Just that she knew it all happened around one individual. And there was no hesitation as Emiko pointed to the said culprit she suspected of putting both her and Natalie here...
"I don't know what happened, but...I think he; that snake is responsible for this... At least for me, anyway..." She turned her attention for a moment towards Kaa to make sure things hadn't changed before looking back to Natalie. "...I met him shortly after I got lost... He said something about trying to help me sleep. Next thing I know...my clothes are gone, I'm in his coils, and...I see him attempting to slide you into his mouth..."
"...Is that so...?" Natalie asked, being way more calm about this than most people would have been... Had it not been for the fact that Kaa had dragged her here for the last...half hour or so, she might have found it weird. But...after seeing everything that had happened, she didn't doubt it... Instead, she quietly stood to her feet and looked at Kaa with great care and concern. All she could think to ask was a single question...
"...Is the snake...alive? Did...it die when it fell out of the tree...?"

Kaa twitched.
It was an involuntary thing, brain neurons firing off commands to the rest of the body that hadn’t apparently yet realized the predicament it’d found itself in. Though the coils would occasionally convulse and shudder, it wasn’t a signal that the serpent was anywhere near waking up.
He was well and truly dead to the world.
That being said…
…with several of his coils laying in the river, the low current could very well stir him from his unintended slumber if given enough time – at the very least it would be faster than the hours it’d take for his brain to reboot after having been struck so soundly.
But the longer the girls remained, the greater chance he might wake.
Though escaping to civilization might prove difficult, as most of their journey here had been through the dense canopy of foliage above them, and it wasn’t as though Natalie had been in the best position to observe their trek. The river provided a constant landmark for them to follow, but only time would tell if it led them back to civilization and away from the hungry serpent that had tried to devour them.
The clock was ticking.

There were some signs that Kaa was still moving. Involuntary movements perhaps, but still the signs were there. And Emiko and Natalie both realized what that meant. They weren't out of the woods yet... Far from it.
"...I don't think he is..." Emiko replied, before taking a couple of nervous steps backwards... "...Maybe we should go.. I don't want to stick around here after what just happened..."
It was a statement that Natalie silently agreed with. She gave Emiko a faint nod of her head and turned with her friend to start traveling along the banks of the river.
"...We'll stay close to the river... I know that where there is a river, civilization is sure to pop up eventually." Natalie would say, leading the charge forward through the bush...
And off the two girls went... Natalie leading the way forward with Emiko following silently behind trying to put as much distance between them and Kaa as they possibly could...
****
As the two traveled through the brush, the two girls caught each other up on the events that had taken place... Emiko explained how she ended up lost and running into Kaa while Natalie revealed how she discovered her missing roommate and got the entire village to go out hunting for her. There were various apologies exchanged and a bit more small talk, but the big thing the girls got out of the conversation was that the village was looking for Emiko and most likely Natalie now. If they could get back to the search area where they were taken, MAYBE they could get rescued...
It was a wishful thought with no guarantees. Kaa had taken them quite deep and retracing their steps was very difficult. Especially in their bare condition. Their exposed legs and arms made traveling through the jungle brush difficult due to how it irritated their skin. And traveling barefoot was absolutely atrocious... They could hardly travel more than maybe half an hour before it became obvious this just wasn't going to work... throw in the dead of night into the occasion and...it made traveling any more impossible...
The two girls did have a momentary debate as to what they should do with an agreement that they had to camp out somewhere. Natalie wanted to try and find a cave to camp in while Emiko more favored the trees. Having just escaped Kaa, Natalie wasn't sure about that option, but...when push came to shove, Emiko was adamant if only because there were actually a lot of trees about... The girls would spend a bit of time looking for a good one before deciding to climb up and call it a night. The tree they picked? One that had a lot of pokes and thrones in it making it a seemingly safe haven from anyone that might try to hunt them. At least...it seemed safe... Never mind the fact that the the 'thorns' and pokes of the tree were, while a nuisance, nothing that would puncture anyone... It was just a false sense of security, but...who could tell the two girl's that?
Natalie and Emiko spent the next few minutes doing their best to climb up what they thought was their safe haven... Naturally, it took a little work, but at long last, they were up amongst some of the lower branches and started to settle in for the night... To that end, Emiko had settled on one branch while Natalie had picked a branch just about six feet or so on the other side of the tree. There, they'd...attempt to rest for the night. But...not right off the bat...
"...Natalie, are...you sure we put enough distance between us and the that snake?" Emiko asked with worry... "...What if he tracks us down and finds us here?"
"It'll be fine, Emiko..." Natalie would reply, doing her best to get comfortable for some sleep. "...After all, you choose the tree-option..."
"I know, but I..." Emiko was suddenly cut short by Natalie who tried to settle her friend down... Natalie may not have gone through the stuff that Emiko had, but...she felt confident in this place.
"We picked a tree that has thorns in all of the branches. We even cut ourselves a couple of times getting up here, didn't we? I think we'll be safe as long as we stay here. But if you either of us see anything, just shout to the other and we'll come to the other's aide, ok?"
Emiko gave a nod of agreement before the two exchanged their good nights. Moments later, the two girls would attempt to drift off to sleep anxious for the morning light and eager to very much get back home. Sad to say though...their night wasn't QUITE over...

Uggghhhh…
Kaa awoke with a splitting headache.
The serpent lethargically pulled himself from the mound of twisted coils he’d been buried underneath upon regaining consciousness, forcing him to work through the indignity of twisting and unknotting his own coils after they’d been so cruelly torn from his tree. Golden eyes dazedly blinked as the last of the pain dissipated, the toughness of his skull and muscles having alleviated the worst of the impact.
The serpent took stock of his surroundings…
…and pouted.
The girl-cubs were gone.
Kaa grumbled as he pulled himself upright, fishing his coils from the river and shaking them off – the chill having permeated into his very bones at this point. He was going to need something nice and warm to heat him up…something like a nice warm meal or two would do just fine. A hungry smirk crossed the serpent’s maw as his forked tongue flickered, tasting the air for his erstwhile prey’s scents.
They were still strong but fading.
They’d clearly intended to follow the river from what he could tell, but apparently it hadn’t occurred to either of them to break their scent trails by crossing said river. If they had, they might have made this entire process more difficult for him – as it was all they did was paint a neon glowing trail for him to follow as they aimlessly wandered further into the jungle.
Kaa licked his chops.
The prospect of two girl-cubs wasn’t something he was willing to give up on.
Admittedly this night hadn’t turned out the way he’d wanted (obvious enough) but there was still a chance that he could get things back on track. He’d allowed his anger and hunger to overcome his good judgment, he could see that now. So despite the fact he should’ve felt nothing but blasting rage for his dinner date having so rudely shoved him from the tree…
…he took a deep breath and released the anger.
…and also destroyed a few tree branches to vent his frustration.
Emotions settled, Kaa moved forward to follow the trail they’d so courteously left him to peruse.
Kaa chuckled.
He’d wanted to dine in…but he supposed he was ordering takeout now.

The tree that Emiko and Natalie had decided to sleep in for the night wasn't exactly that far from where they had left Kaa... Though it felt like they had traveled a fair distance away, a thirty minute barefoot walk had only taken them MAYBE a quarter of a mile away. And not being experts relating to anything to the jungle, their mistakes became very apparent. None though as much as their choice of rest. Yet another tree that, even with thorns and pokes would do nothing to the animals in the area. Even the girls could handle it if they stepped lightly...
That said, making movements within the tree wasn't exactly their plans. Their goal was to get some sleep and wait out the night for dawn to arrive. Once the sun had risen and they could see their way, they'd climb down the tree and take off back for civilization. Both Natalie and Emiko knew it...probably wouldn't be that easy, but that was the plan come morning...if they made it...
Despite the plan being quite sound, not...everything was going according to it. The main factor hurting it was the fact that...the two girls were having a hard time sleeping in their environment. Thankfully, Natalie was able to get comfortable and actually nod off. Emiko however was suffering from the same problem she had all night. Namely that the environment was so foreign to her and she couldn't sleep in some random place. The branch was just...to uncomfortable and unpleasant. She'd actually find herself very envious of her roommate when she heard Natalie let out a soft snore to signal that at least she was sleeping...
Honestly, it wasn't fair and Emiko huffed displeased because of it. She tried her best to find some comfortable position to rest in, but...it wasn't happening. The fact that she was flat out exhausted just...made it worse. Sure, she might have gotten a bit of a nap in Kaa's coils, but that wasn't nearly enough sleep... And stranger yet, she was still feeling sleepy from that event. Seemed Kaa had taken her VERY deep and that hadn't gone away in full just yet...

It didn’t take long to catch up.
The foolish girl-cubs had apparently taken chosen to take refuge in a tree for the night, apparently exhausted by the rather short distance they’d traveled. Granted, he supposed he shouldn’t expect much from cubs – they didn’t even have their own claws to defend themselves, how could they possibly hope to survive in the jungle themselves? Yet their foolishness proved his boon.
Navigating himself into the tree without being spotted was a simple matter.
Despite their rather perilous experience, neither cub made an effort to keep watch for the night, instead apparently busying themselves in lulling to slumber. The spicy one (he supposed he should learn her name at some point) had already fallen asleep, rough snores echoing through the canopy of foliage. Kaa spared her a glance, licking her chops at her utterly helpless and oblivious form.
Golden eyes admired the slumbering girl-cub, drinking in the delectable meat he craved.
Soon.
His anger had dissipated, the short trip easing his frustrations.
He could take his time with this one.
Though his attention turned towards Emiko.
From above, the sly serpent gleefully observed the trouble she had finding slumber, twisting and turning in her spot as the minutes passed. Her undergarments were the only protection she was provided, a partly shield when compared to the dangers the jungle offered.
Like him.
Kaa licked his chops.
Again.
“Sssaaayyy now,” Kaa hissed, dragging out his words in an effort to tease her senses into slumber. He doubted it would accomplish much, but if it could buy him a few minutes then it would be worth the effort. The serpent’s snout dipped down from the tree-top in a familiar rendition of their first meeting, golden eyes gleaming in the shadowy darkness that surrounded them. “What do we have here?”
Kaa snickered as he rolled his head around her, examining her from all angles.
The terror etched into her gaze was amusing.
“It’s seems to be a familiar face…a nice, tasty, delicious girl-cub.”
A trio of rings rippled from his gaze.
Not enough to ensnare her…but enough to keep her from waking her companion.
“You were rather rude, leaving when you did.”

Kaa was able to move through the trees and remain as silent as the grave. Though Natalie had indeed been fast asleep, Emiko did find herself occasionally jumping awake to any crackle or sound the jungle made. After a while she had tried to ignore them, but Kaa made no such sounds as he moved. The serpent had literally managed to find his way to their tree, get comfy in it, AND spy out his meals without making a sound...
He'd apparently been there just long enough to examine the situation and realize that one of the two girls had managed to drift off to sleep while the other was still awake. Natalie was asleep and, despite not being deep, wouldn't pose much of a threat right now. Emiko on the other hand was still awake and may have presented the biggest challenge. At least...if she caught onto Kaa while he went after Natalie. That was what had happened before... In light of that, the serpent seemed to pick Emiko as his first catch and...set out to do just that...
Emiko had just tossed and turned a few different times before letting out a faint huff in frustration. Sleeping was proving difficult, and she was honestly just about to give up. But then...she heard the hiss of a familiar voice. And...it sent shivers down her spine...
As Kaa greeted her, Emiko froze in place recognizing his hisses. And slowly, she started to look up into the trees where her eyes went wide in shock. She yelped for just a moment seeing the serpent's snout come into view. And a sense of panic ran over her system as the serpent referred to her as a nice, tasty, delicious girlcub... Those were words that made her scared beyond all reason, and Emiko was just about to shout out for Natalie to warn her when...a trio of rings rippled across Kaa's gaze. And goodness what an impact they had...
The moment Emiko saw those rings, they reflected in her eyes and washed over her mind...just like the first time. They didn't ensnare her, but...like earlier, they calmed her down and...left her open enough to not alert Natalie like she should have. Instead...she just sat quietly for a moment adjusting to this new state seeming to have forgotten about his earlier comments. Or, at least paying them no mind in a danger sort of way. Instead, Emiko's 'opened' mind focused on what he had said after that... About her being rather rude for leaving when she did...
"...I...I was rude...? H-how is that? I didn't mean to be rude... I was just...scared... When I woke up, you were...trying to eat my friend..."
...Here the snake was that had just attempted to eat Emiko's friends and a few rings had her conversing with it like those things meant nothing... The rings had if nothing else settled Emiko down enough to ironically converse with casually without waking her friend. And...that would only set things up for pure trouble...

Kaa smirked.
It seemed despite everything that had happened to her over the last few hours, this particular girl-cub was still quite susceptible to his hypnotic persuasions. Despite the fact he’d outright attempted to consume her and her friend right in front of her face, a single trio of spirals was enough to ward off any screaming. If anything the bewildered cub was even admitting she didn’t mean to be rude during their last encounter.
He could have fun with this.
It was a risk, but one he was willing to experiment with.
“Oh, but you were quite rude,” Kaa said, dark smile stretching across his snout. He could practically see her mind working to reconcile the new facts he’d provided for her, the addled thoughts and notions he’d added competing for attention even as her waking mind attempted to ward her off. A warm chuckle burst from his throat (though he was careful to keep it quiet) as he approached her as an old friend. “How could you possible prevent your friend from going through something so wonderful?”
Another trio of rings rippled through his gaze.
He could see the words cementing in her skull, twisting her reality.
But he wasn’t done yet.
“Worst yet, how could you do that to me?” Kaa asked, feigning hurtfulness as the dazed Emiko blinked away the trio of spirals that echoed through her own frightened gaze. A dark thrill of amusement rolled across the python as he attempted to settle the notion he’d just planted in her confused skull. “I was so gracious to offer you both a chance to be eaten like a true friend, and you went and abandoned me! Don’t you know how hungry I’ve been – don’t you think it’s wrong to let your friends go hungry?”
Another trio of spirals.
