Many legends and mysteries were told about the anacondas of the amazon rainforest. The local people live either in fear or respect or even both of them and some would even risk their lives to find and see them with their very own eyes. Not just those tiny or middle sized ones, that you can also find in the zoo. Researchers from all around the world tried for years to get their eyes and cameras on the big ones. Those who the native tribes were telling storys about. Those which are said to be over 30 feet long or even more and could easily swallow a person whole. Most of these people were believed to have failed, then went home and would never be heared of again.
Truth was, many have found those gigantic anacondas, the mysteries told about. But they have all fallen prey to them. Because those researchers had entered the holy domain of the anaconda godess that was living in an ancient temple, so deep in the jungle, almost noone knew of it. Attracted by their godess, the huge - and by that I mean really huge! - anacondas were guarding the area around the temple, not allowing any human or other animal to get close to it. Anything and everyone who would dare to, would find it´s end in their deadly embrace and no trace of them would be left behind.
That was what Rob had been told by the local tribes. He was a young researcher, pretty tall, slender and of short, brown hair. Since he had studied this region for so long, he spoke the tribes ancient language and asked them to tell him everything about this anaconda goddess. Afterwards he just had to visit this area, even though the tribes leader had begged him not to, because he would not return from there. But Rob decided to take the risk. Because if the legends were true, those anacondas would not harm him. Because there were no animals in the world he loved more than snakes. And he just had to find out the truth about this goddess - if she really existed.

Little did Rob know just what his journey would entail. For four great serpents, each representing an element: Water, Jungle, Air, and Fire, served as the gaurdians of the false. Any travelers would have to bypass them one by one, or they would by crushe beneath the monsters' tails long before the queen was even in sight. The only way to travel to the queen's lair, was by river...

Rob was constantly looking to his left, then right, hen left again, always expecting to spot a huge serpent at the shore. He was currently paddling in his canoe, slowly but surely making his way to the ancient temple, where the anaconda goddess is said to be. After visiting the local tribe, he had clothed himself in their traditional clothing which was basically nothing more than a brown loincloth with some leaves. But he didn´t care entering this domain half naked. If he was about to end in some snake´s coils anyway, clothing would only be a nuisance. But he still hoped, that the stories were true - at least to the part where it said that snake loving humans would not be harmed by the anacondas around here.
The temple wasn´t very far anymore and Rob still expected to see a huge anaconda practical anytime and anywhere. Every Vine or long branch at the river shore was recognized as a serpent for a moment, until he got aware of the fact, that his mind was just tricking him again. Maybe the legends were just legends after all. He was sure to have encountered some anacondas by now. Well, he had, bot that was half a day of paddling ago and just normal sized anacondas of like 10 to 15 feet. Those were not the one he was looking for. He already started to fear he was wasting his time in this part of the rainforest.

Up ahead, a large, 10-foot long statue of a sea krait rested on a pillar by the side of the river. The water seemed to flow around it, rather than past it, so the current sent the canoe to rest alongside the pillar. All at once, Rob heard a voice.
"I am the guardian of the sea. The water is my domain. What brings you here, O intruder?"

Rob looked at the pillar with interest as it came into sight. Must be built by the tribe or maybe some even older civilization from around here who had also built the temple he was heading to.
But the sudden change of the current took him by surprise. Could it really be a coincidence, that it lead him right to the statue? And he was puzzled even more when he thought he heard a voice. But that must have been his imagination. While he had been told by the villages elder that the anacondas here were special, Rob was sure he was referring to their size. He did not mention they could speak or anything. Neither could do an ancient statue. Still he got off his canoe to give it a closer look.

Suddenly, the tide began to shift. The water twisted around, and suddenly, a large tendril made of water rose from the river. The massive stream took on the form of a black and blue striped sea snake, easily 30 feet in length. The massive sea beheamoth hissed, "I said: I am the guardian of the sea! Why are you intruding in my domain, human?" Without waiting for an answer, the giant snake caught Rob in his mouth, and then tossed him into the air!

Rob quickly turned around when he heard the water splashing behind him and already thought he had caught the attention of an aligator or maybe one of those anacondas he expected. But he literally froze in place when he saw the water building up to a huge, snake like form, before shiny scales grew around it and he was suddenly face to face with a gigantic serpent. And it really hissed words at him, he could understand. It didn't wait for his answer though. He was too amazed to give one anyway. And he still wasn't able to move, even as he was grabbed by the snake's huge maw and tossed into the air. Rob's mind wasn't working. This was far beyond his expectations. His body was limp and felt weightless up in the air. He jusz caught a short glimbse at the snake beneath and what it was about to do with him.

The snake's body was like gelatain. It was partially fluid, and partially solid. As Rob slowly plummeted down, the serpent arranged his coils in a loop, catching Rob as he fell. "You WILL show respect to the guardian of water," the snake hissed. It's body began compress inward, squishing Rob in a jello-like substance. "I'll say it one more time," it hissed quietly. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!!!"

Rob landed in a thick coil that felt like snake scales on the outside but beneath them this body seemed to be out of liquid. It reminded him of a water bed. What a fool he was to think about such things right now. He just became aware of the situation he was in, as he was squeezed by this water serpent.
Rob had to focus. Whatever this creature was, it must see him as an intruder. One false word and he might be done for. But he decided not to lie to this snake. "My name is Rob. I didn't mean to disturb you. I was passing by and want to visit the temple of the anaconda goddess." It was possible that this water snake was somehow connected to her. How else could he explain this serpent? "I beg you forgivness for entering your domain, but I don't mean to harm anyone or anything." Despite the tight grip it got around Rob, his heart jumped in joy. Because now he was sure, that this goddess was not just a legend but really exists. The question was if he would get the chance to meet her.

The snake leaned in close, analyzing Rob. "Then riddle me this. Am I a type of sea snake?" It asked.

Rob looked the snake's face up and down. It was so huge, it could swallow him whole no problem. In some ways, seeing such snakes was exactly what he was here for, but never did he imagine, that things would go this way. "From the pattern of your scales, I'd say yes. You definitely are a sea snake."

"That is wrong! I am a sea krait! Sea kraits are a DIFFERENT species than sea snakes!"

Seemed like Rob was too fast there and hadn´t not thought this through clearly. He should have recognized that. Sadly, he did not put on his brain before his following words either. "Forgive me, but you are obviously a higher beeing among the snakes. On a second thought, I would never associate you with a normal species of snake. More like a spirit guardian." How dumb was he? This creature was clearly not pleased with him but he dared to talk back to it. Now his only hope was, that he overheard his shameless words and mind the flattering ones instead. Otherwise he was probably dead meat.

Appealing to the sea krait's pride seemed to do the trick, as it at least paused before it considered eating him. It glared at Rob through piercing eyes. "Why have you come here?"

Rob wriggled a little because of the tight grip this snake still had on him. But at least he was not constricted. "I heared about the anaconda godess as well as the gigantic anacondas living here and wanted to see them with my very own eyes. I have always loved snakes, so I just had to." Sad that loving snakes did not mean to know everything about them. Otherwise he wouldn't have answered the question earlier wrong. "It is my deepest wish to pay my respect to the goddess of the most beautiful animals in the world."
