The Indian Jungle was hardly a civil place that anyone called home. In fact, it was so barren of people that often even the humans who called this place home would abandon their cities and towns they had built to seek refuge elsewhere. The Jungle was not a place where just anyone could live and hope to thrive. And yet...that was exactly what one foolish girl was attempting to do...
A young Japanese girl by the name of Emiko had wanted to start what she perceived as a new and exciting life in the wilderness for as long as she could remember. She had grown up inspired by the innocent portrayal of the jungle she had been exposed to from books, movies, and television. Though these interpretations of the jungle were quite imaginative and far from reality, every time she was fed something new about the jungle from some source of multimedia, she took it all in feeding that silly desire of hers to actually have a life out there.
Her desires seemed innocent enough, but for years she let these feelings of wanting to start a new life in the jungle grow in her until it got to a point where she couldn't just witness the jungle through multimedia anymore. She wanted more than just reading, or seeing the wild, exciting adventures on screen. She wanted to live it and have the adventurous life that came in the jungle! Getting to India to achieve that dream however was no small task and it took her years to get things in line to actually make the trip over.
She was far from a well off family, so the only way that Emiko could get to the jungle was by traveling there on a subsidized trip paid for mostly by the college. She had spent years studying in the field environmental sciences which was required to get the grant she needed to take the trip. Even with her major, she still had to jump through several other hurdles to get the permission to travel abroad. Though it took her a while, she finally got all of the paperwork and documentation along with the funds that would send her to India for a week to study the environment of the jungle. Of course...this was just the cover to what she was REALLY going to do...
With everything approved, Emiko wasted no time in packing her bags for the long trip, though...she traveled suspiciously light. That should have been the first clue she wasn't just using this trip for studying abroad. Regardless no one thought anything about her packing as she was only suppose to be there a week and gave her no second looks through checkpoints, or other areas she'd encounter people doing background checks and whatnot on her.
It took quite a long flight, and even a longer bus ride for Emiko to get to the hotel she'd be staying at for the week by the jungle's edge. Once she had made it to this part of India where she could 'start her jungle studies', she was ready to put her plan into motion... Emiko dressed casually as if she were going to just go for a stroll into town and then proceeded out of her hotel where she planned to never be seen again in public society. She started down the street like normal, but little by little, she proceeded off of the streets into a patch of the wildnerness. After finding her way into the wilderness along the cities edge, it didn't take but a few hours of walking, and she had done it! She had ran away from her old life and was about to start her new, exciting life in the jungle!
While Emiko was very excited to start her new life in this jungle, she...wasn't exactly an expert in what she was getting herself into... Sure she was a major in environmental sciences, but...with only the constant focus of trying to get to India just so she could run away in it, you kind of had to wonder just how much she paid attention in class... If her attire was any indication of her level of knowledge in her field, she clearly had no idea what she was doing at all...
Having expected this new life of hers to be a cake walk, Emiko had came into the jungle literally in the worst attire possible for jungle hiking... She was dressed in a rather light blue colored short sleeved, knee-length dress that extended to about her knees. A white sash around her waist made her stand out even more than her dress had and her choice to go about this terrain in simple black slip on flats was hardly appropriate for fast jungle travel. If she had ANYTHING going her way, it was that her long brown hair had been tied up in a ponytail to keep off her shoulders while her matching brown eyes were firmly attuned to the path in front of her. With her creamy pale complexion however...she stuck out in the jungle like a sore thumb...
Emiko had only been out in the jungle for a few hours before it started to get dark and she started having second thoughts about all of this... A part of her, the common sense part that knew this was stupid wanted to go back, but she just kept reminding herself that there was adventure out here. She just...had to find it and...survive what was becoming an increasingly dark atmosphere... It took Emiko til the time the sun had almost set before she realized she was potentially in mortal danger. So she started to look around the jungle for a safe place to bunk for the night. For her, this would be her first test. If she could get a good night's sleep out here and survive the night, that would mean she was indeed meant to be here and could start her exciting life in the morning! Little did she realize, she was about to become little more than an a specimen discovering her place in the food chain...

The serpent hungered.
Kaa, a majestic beast that only Mother Nature herself could possibly love, was a behemoth of a reptile. As the undisputed king of the treetops in the jungles of India, not a single treetop creature dared to willingly come into contact with this predatory nightmare. Neither would more than the toughest, no, not even the toughest ground-dwellers, for every creature in the jungle knew, if you could see the whites of his eyes, you were too close.
Kaa had every attribute of a deadly monster. He coils were built up long and strong by a lifetime of hunting things like deer or hogs, easily able to support his weight, as well as his prey, in the heights of the forest canopy. His long tail measured over 100, no, 1000-feet in length, and his gaping maw could devour whole elephants.
But deadliest of all was his appetite. There was not a single creature who could match his desire for sustaince. All who have challenged him have fallen before his bottomless gullet and awesome appetite. He was also one of the few great jungle animals to successfully hunt down the species of Man. Yes, he had only to slither up behind, catch them off-guard, and the crush his prey beneath the crushing power of his weight. And then, and only then, would his incredible stomach finally be satisfi--
*Rumble*
Kaa awoke with a start. "Oh, bother! Now? And in the middle of such a nice dream..." Kaa looked himself over. His length measured out to a mere 60-feet in length, he certainly wasn't the king of the treetops or the ground-dwellers, and though he certainly has tried, he was never quite able to successfully feast on Man. No matter how much it seemed to go in his favor, by some extreme luck, Man would somehow always escape from his clutches, leaving him starved once mor--
*Growl*
Kara sighed at his once-again empty stomach. Not being able to feed himself remained a constant issue. He wished for a delectable meal to just come waltzing up to his tree.
There was nothing to do but simply rest, and wait...

Whether or not Emiko was that said specimen that Kaa hoped would just waltz into his tree remained to be seen. That said, as the silly girl traveled deeper into the jungle, she wasn't exactly being subtle about her presence or heading in a direction away from the predator. In fact...she seemed to be heading right for where the python had been resting, obviously unintentional of course...
She walked on slowly, step by step trying to find some place that would be safe to call home for the night. As she glanced around, it was becoming increasingly obvious that sleeping on the ground wasn't much of an option. There just weren't any good spots that would conceal her body from predators in the jungle. And even if there were things like hollowed out trees or small caves in rock formations, spooky sounds from within them kept her out... She needed somewhere that hadn't been inhabited by something that could threaten her. And unfortunately...glancing up into the trees, she realized that said spot was above her...
Gulping nervously, she gave a hard stop of her foot on the ground before letting out a groaning complaint about the situation that...was sure to attract nearby attention...
"Oh...why the trees? I'm a HORRIBLE climber and it's going to take me forever to get up there... I know it's safer, but...how am I suppose to get up into the trees without a ladder or something?"
With a disheartened sigh, Emiko began looking about the area for another potential place to rest. As she searched areas she had already looked at a second time, it became even more obvious that the only answer to safety was in the trees. It didn't sit well with her that this was the only way to stay safe, but she decided to swallow her pride and get up the tree. First...she had to find a way up there. And since climbing was out of the question, she started looking for some sturdy vines to climb up into the trees instead.

Oh how Kaa wished for a meal to drop by. Not even just for his stomach, but so he would at least have toy to keep him company as he worked up an appetite. For, despite his frail, lanky length of a body, he did have one special trick. His eyes, his hiss, his waving tail rattle... Given enough time and pressure, they could temporarily force any living organism into a blissful, dreamlike trance, where Kaa could play with them till his heart's content, before gently sliding them down his gullet and into his--

--stomach.
Kaa was disappointed to find that his imagination had gotten the better of him again. His dream of finally getting his coils, his eyes, his starved throat around a man, or even just a cub, would remain little more than a--
All at once he felt a tug on his tail.
"Oh?" He wondered to himself. "Who would that be at this time of night?" He peered over the branch to get a better look.

Down below, Emiko had been lightly tugging on vines in an attempt to find one strong enough to possibly climb up into the tree tops. However, each one that she gave a tug to proved to be too fragile, or snapped off of the branches when given the slightest pull. Honestly, it was proving to be as fruitless trying to find a vine up into the trees as it was just to find some place on the ground to sleep for the night. She was honestly just about to give up on the search for a sturdy vine when she found a rather thick one in front of her. When gave this one a tug...it didn't snap or show signs of weakness... Though...it did feel strange...
With another tug, it became apparent that this 'vine' was indeed a sturdy one and it was one she was confident she could take all the way into the trees as long as it was attached. While holding it firmly, she took a long look upwards to see just how far it went.
"...I hope it at least goes high enough to get me off of the ground..." Emiko said, to no one in particular...
Thanks to the jungle foliage above, it proved difficult to see just how far up this 'vine' she was holding went. With another light tug though, she made absolutely certain that it wasn't going anywhere which...thankfully it didn't. Figuring this was her ticket up to safety, Emiko didn't waste any time hoping onto this vine and attempting to climb her way up. What she didn't realize was that the 'vine' she was climbing up...was actually the dangling tail of a certain, hungry snake...

Kaa's eyes nearly bugged out of his head. As if one cue, a man-cub was clinging to his tail, and climbing up his tree! He almost shouted for joy, then realized what a fatal mistake that would be. No, it would be best to be patient. Let herself become comfortable, and them approach slowly, deliberately, harmlessly... he patiently waiting in the limb above, and waiting to see what the cub would do...

Emiko was hardly an expert climber and it took her a good few minutes to make any sort of progress up into the trees. And strangely, the further up into the trees she climbed, the thicker this vine seemed to become. She wasn't sure what she was holding onto was even a vine at this point, but...it was holding and allowed her to climb up into the branches out of the reach of harm from down below. She'd...ponder everything else after she was safely away from the danger not realizing she was climbing right into it...
After a good ten minutes, Emiko FINALLY arrived at the top of the branch would have taken anyone else of decent physique and strength two minutes to climb... At the top, it took her several moments to get her footing and balance giving the snake a chance to see that the human in his tree was not someone experienced with the jungle... In fact, it was someone who had never set foot in the jungle and hadn't even known she was climbing a snake tail.
Once Emiko FINALLY got her balance, she started looking around the branch attempting to see if it was as sturdy to stay in as she originally thought. It was dark up here, but not so much that beams from the full moon couldn't penetrate. What really stood out though was that the branch seemed sturdy and also safe... She thought maybe this place would be ok for the night and in the morning, she'd go on her way.
"...This will have to do for the night... Tomorrow morning, I'll get a fresh start and really get my new life in the jungle started..."
A new life in the jungle...? It was more clear than ever just how inexperienced Emiko was... And if she really thought life in the jungle was as exciting as she was making it sound, then Kaa had quite the naive individual in his tree...

Kaa had to cover his mouth with a coil to keep from crying out. Not from excitement, but from laughter. "Is this truly what I think it is? A naive, inexperienced, man-cub who can't even climb a tree properly? Eh-hoo-hoo-eh-hoo-hoo-hoo. Then perhaps I can give her some proper 'survival lessons' before that cub slips into my coils, her mind into my eyes, and then the whole thing down the hatch!" Kaa was already fantasizing they dreamworld that the young Emiko would soon find herself within...
But now was not time for that. Now was the time for action. He waited for the man-cub to get herself situated, then slowly descended from the shadowy limbs above.
"Sssayy, now," he remarked. He slowly eyed his prey up and down. "What have we here?"

After making sure everything in the tree was good for the night which...meant just making sure she wasn't gonna fall when she laid down, Emiko took a seat on the branch and did her best to get comfortable. Unfortunately...tree bark didn't exactly make for good sitting material. And...because of that, it took her a considerable amount of time to really get in a position where she felt comfortable. Even 'comfortable' was still a bit rough on any skin that was exposed...
When it was all said and done, Emiko had managed to get herself into a reclined position when she suddenly heard the voice of something strange in the night. She nervously sat up and looked about before the voice finally spoke once more. Finding the source of the voice above her, Emiko glanced up only to gasp in shock when she saw what was speaking...
Peering down at her from above was a python that looked to be HUGE. Well...maybe it wasn't the biggest python to ever exist, but it was the biggest Emiko had ever seen. What really made her eyes open wide in shock was when she realized the snake was TALKING. All she could do was stare up at the snake in disbelief for several moments in shock, unsure what to do. Her priceless reaction just confirmed how...inexperienced this poor girl was when it came to the jungle...

This cub was so dumbfounded, Kaa wondered if he would even need to use his eyes. He decided to try gaining her trust first. Kaa glided gracefully through the the air. Before Emiko realized what was happening, he had slid his head under her right armpit. "Hmhmhm," Kaa chucked, now sliding behind her back. "It's a man cub," his tongue hissed in her ear. He finished by sliding over her left shoulder, giving a rest for her back from the rough bark. Turning to face her again, he smacked his lips.

Emiko was honestly too stunned to move with the sight before her... She started to breath nervously as the snake came ever close to her and...wanted desperately to run away from the python. However, her body was frozen in fear. Instead...all she could do was quietly sit on the branch as the python moved his head under her arm, behind her back, and appeared back around her shoulder getting her hard back off of the tree bark. While not having her back against the tree was nice, she was more focused on the TALKING SNAKE BEFORE HER!
Emiko gulped nervously and stared at the python for several moments hardly even registering the fact that the snake had smacked his lips in what should have been an obvious sign of what he intended... Instead, she lightly began to whimper, repeating back some of the words he had said still to scared to move...
"...A...m-man...cub...? W-what...W-what do...you mean...?"

Kaa chucked. "Why, are you not a child of man, little one? A cub of a man?" He then looked surprised. "Oh, but where are my manners? My name is Kaa, man-cub, and I humbly welcome you to the jungle."
Internally, Kaa was smiling. "And soon, naive cub, you will be welcomed to my stomach," he thought to himself.
Kaa leaned in close, so his flicking tongue brushed her nose. "Judging by the fact that you did not know I could speak, is it safe to assume that you are new to the jungle?"

When the python went on to explain what he meant by man-cub it...suddenly made sense to her. But...that still didn't change how strange this whole thing was. She still couldn't believe that this snake was actually talking to her, let alone having an actual conversation with her and...apparently teaching her things that should have probably been obvious this entire time...
"...I...I guess that makes sense..." Emiko softly replied back, still quite in disbelief. When the python went on to introduce himself, things just...started getting weird...
"...I...I am a little new to the jungle, yes..." Emiko softly responded with a nervous voice. "...I...I came out here to...to start a new life in the jungle. It's...something I always wanted for the longest time and I came out here to start living it. And...And...oh gosh... I can't believe I'm actually conversing with a snake..."
Emiko had to shake her head a few times and rub her eyes to make sure she wasn't dreaming. She tried several things to see if she was sleeping, but NOTHING made it seem like this was a dream. the python before her was indeed real and talking to her. This was just...just way too strange. She wasn't sure how she should take any of this strangeness...

Kaa smiled. He knew how to get her exactly where he wanted her. "Well, you certainly seem... inexperienced," At that last word, he sent a single spiral through his eyes, turning his casual sentence into a hypnotic suggestion. "The jungle is very dangerous place for someone like you," He gave her another spiral. "After all, you are alone, helpless," A third ring of color. "You need someone to show you how to survive here," a fourth. With his charm and hypnotic abilities, she would hopefully believe all that he had just said.
Inside his mind, kaa grinned evilly. It was so easy to use his power on a naive man-cub, even if it was just a minor bit. It almost felt like cheating. But not to worry. Soon, very soon, she would be sharing in the full power of Kaa's abilities.

After trying over and over to come to terms with things, Emiko finally realized that all of this was real.. She wasn't dreaming, nor was this some trick of the light, or of the jungle. She truly was in the tree with a talking snake, and short of going insane, there was no explanation for it... It defied all logic, but was indeed a real event happening before her very eyes. that wasn't the only thing that was about to happen before her eyes...
Emiko was just about to comment to the python about some of the things he said when she suddenly saw something randomly flow through the snake's eyes. Just a single ring, but it had a profound impact on her... Emiko's mind began to open up and the last word he spoke softly echoed through her mind forcing her to take it as reality...
"...In...inexperienced...?" She softly questioned, before receiving yet another ring that again flew through Kaa's eye and hit her psyche hard. Like with the previous ring, his suggestions sank in hard as she softly uttered his words back again, "...dangerous...for me..."
Yet another ring flowed through the python's eye. Without even realizing it, Emiko again felt the hypnosis hit her hard and sink into her psyche causing her to feel exactly as the python said, even going so far as to repeat it... "H-helpless..." The final ring that flew through Kaa's eye left feeling very dizzy and with his previous words, she was unable to stop herself from repeating and believing what he said to her... "S-someone...show me...to survive..."
After the initial onslaught of hypnosis, Emiko began to sway a bit feeling confused and dazed. All she could think about was how inexperienced she was, how dangerous the jungle was, how helpless she was, and how she needed someone to help her... She was so lost in these thoughts, believing them so strongly that she couldn't help but randomly comment showing just how deep Kaa's power had penetrated with just a few rings on it's own...
"...I...I'm so...in over my head... I'm so helpless... I can't...do this alone...can I...?"
