Leo opened the door and stepped in, politely closing it behind him. "Good morning, Captain. I came to speak to you about a new species of animal I encountered in the jungle. I have had difficulties capturing it, and I've hired six men to help me. I've ordered a cart and cage for it from some of the locals as well, whom I paid quite generously. I'd like to enlist your help if I could, the new species is quite revolutionary and many new medicines and new understanding of biology could arise from it's study - I imagine for aiding me successfully, you may even get a promotion. If we fail, then I'm happy to pay compensation to you for your time." Leo explained eagerly. He looked round the room. He saw some tiger heads and hunting rifles hung on the walls, and the carpet in front of Bruce's desk was a tiger skin as well, the head poking out the end and grimacing at him.

Bruce looked up and smiled "that does sound quite amazing, what kind of creature are we talking about?" He asked closing his notepad to pay close attention.

Leo faltered a bit. He wasn't at all sure if Captain Jennings would believe him if he told him the truth. Suddenly he had an idea. "Well, have you heard the stories the natives told of a man-wolf hybrid? Well, I set out to track it down, and although I was unable to see the creature too clearly, I did verify it's existence and managed to make this sketch." He said, pulling out the earlier sketch he had made that looked like a hairy goblin, and handing it to him. He imagined the Captain would find it easier to believe that he ran into an awful monster of a creature than a beautiful girl that spoke English and lived in the jungle like a wolf.

Bruce accepted the paper and looked at it "well it certainly does look quite terrifying, I may be interested but what are you planning to do with it after your study?" He asked.

Leo panicked a little. It would certainly be odd for him to be so protective of an awful creature like this. "Well, I mean, I suppose sell it to a zoo or freak show." He said, laughing nervously. He hoped he could fool the Captain for long enough to get Kana captured and back to Vienna.

Bruce smiled as he got up "great, my brother owns a zoo, so I'll help you out after your study I take it to my brother's zoo, we'll both get what we want" he said holding out his hand to Leo to shake it in a sign of agreement, no need to sign any contracts he trusted Leo.

Leo grinned. He'd done it. He reached out and shook the Captain's hand. He gripped very firmly, Leo felt his eyes water a bit as they shook. "Fantastic, Captain. It will be a pleasure working with you." He said. He felt a little bad about lying to the Captain, but he cared much more about Kana. "Shall we set out in the morning then?" He asked, concerned that something bad might have happened to the last wolf-girl whilst he was gone. She'd survived all her life just fine it seemed, but Leo was still worried nonetheless.

Bruce nodded "we shall, I have someone else in mind to help us out, but I will sort it out, you get some rest" he said leading Leo out of the office "you don't mind I keep the sketch do you? Maybe I'll get a trophy for us when we catch the beast" he said seeming quite pleased.

Leo realised that if they did catch Kana, he'd better have a good excuse for why she didn't look like that. "Well, I based the sketch on just a glimpse and my eyesight's gotten a bit bad recently, so I doubt it's all that accurate, but feel free." Leo said, quickly leaving the office.
He sighed with relief having gotten that over with, the Captain had been friendly enough but lying to him was quite stressful. It would be worth it in the end though, even if Kana ended up hating him and he had to betray nice people along the way. As he left the camp, he heard eerie flute music outside the wall, and saw a little procession of birds marching along the ground in circles, eyes worryingly vacant and bodies unnaturally stiff. As he came out he saw Nahdamuni leaning against the wall, playing his flute. He stopped, and the birds ground to a halt, wobbling slightly as they abruptly came to a complete stop. "Hello, Master." Nahdamuni greeted Leo in Hindi, bowing low to him so that his unreasonably large beard touched the ground.
"I have had an interesting idea. What can you tell me about wolf hearing?" Nahdamuni asked.

The morning came and Bruce was up and ready with another man by his side, as well as the cage and a few others willing to capture this beast, they were just waiting for Leo.
Meanwhile in the jungle Kana was quite happy, Leo's camp was gone and that meant she can drag her kills easily, so hunting today was very easy, still she had to admit she did miss having someone to talk to...But it was better this way, he was safe outside of the jungle and far away from her.

Leo ran up to meet the Captain, glad to see he'd brought a subordinate officer and some soldiers along with their rifles. Although he didn't intend to get Kana shot, it would be necessary for the plan. His five local men and Nahdamuni, who was carrying a large basket with his snake in it, ran up behind him, joining the group. "Alright, Captain, here's the plan. These five men here will spread out and search for the creature. When they find her, you get your men to surround her position and fire their rifles into the air to scare her away from running past them, and my men will cut down any trees that she could escape by climbing and jumping between with their axes, and then we'll tighten this circle, trapping her, and to make sure we can capture the creature unharmed, Nahdamuni here will use his snake here to get her into the cage. Nahdamuni, demonstration please." Leo explained to the captain, and gestured to Nahdamuni. Nahdamuni nodded, and released a small cage of mice. Then he played on his flute, and his snake Anilak rose out, hissing. The mice were scampering away, but Anilak quickly surrounded them with his tail, and looked down onto them, sending colourful spirals through his eyes. The mice immediately had their eyes filled with spirals similarly, and then Anilak set down his mouth open on the ground, and gestured to his mouth with his tail. The mice filed up and walked on their hind legs straight down into Anilak's gullet. "I've been told that this snake's powers can even work on humans, so as you can see, Captain, I think our plan will go swimmingly." Leo concluded. He didn't mention Nahdamuni's back-up plan, assuming that they wouldn't need to use it. "Well, shall we get going then? We can ride on the wagon in front of the cage." Leo suggested, gesturing to the wagon where three oxen where waiting to pull it.

Bruce found this strange, how did Leo know it was a her? He didn't question it and watched the demonstration, smiling at the results. Nodding to Leo "well let's get tracking" he said walking to the wagon with Leo, finally the group set off, just as Kana set back off toward Leo's previous camp curious if he had returned.

The group stopped near where Leo knew her usual routes were, near where he had first set up camp. He four of his men to go searching along it as sneakily as they could, and had the last one start felling trees in a circle around the route. The captain posted his troops in a circle around the route as well, ready to fire if Kana was spotted. Leo feigned going off to check 'the creature''s alternate route, but in actuality he was going off to be with himself. He felt absolutely awful about what he was going to do - it made him feel sick. Nahdamuni was sat on the ground, polishing his flute with an evil look of joy in his eye.

Kana's ears twitched hearing sounds of trees falling quickly she climbed up a tree and saw the area, she jumped from branch to branch being careful to try to get closer to the area, she did and her eyes widened at what she saw, instantly she got angry, he betrayed her. Her nose picked up his scent and followed it finding him, she carefully continued following him waiting for Leo to get a little further.

Leo had curled up under a tree a distance away, and was crying. He almost hated himself, but despite everything he still thought it was necessary. Even if he didn't, it was too late now. The plan was in motion.
Nahdamuni listened as his snake Anilak hissed at something. Getting off his feet, he let Anilak out, and followed him, bushy eyebrows raised in interest.
