Kana stared at the picture wondering who this woman was to this man, putting it back she was confused at his...Writing? She could only assume, the sketch looked truly horrifying "what is that?" she whispered to herself before hearing the man, quickly she began to write. She then aimed and threw the notebook at his back, keeping the pencil for hopeful writings and quickly hid herself back into the trees.
In the notebook on a new page was slightly messy handwriting but in English 'Hello, what are you doing here, who are you, when will you leave'.

Leo let out a surprised 'oof!' as the notebook struck his back. Rubbing it, he turned round to see his notebook. He realised that the creature must have taken it after he dropped it, and then returned it. Judging by how it hit him, she must have thrown it from... A tree? She could climb that well? The natives could as well, he supposed, so it was more likely than he was inclined to believe. He noticed that the notebook's strap was undone, and looked inside. He gasped as he saw words written inside... In English?! That he didn't expect. Firstly, she could write, secondly, it was English and not an Indian language. So he was dealing with a creature intelligent enough to learn another language from observation. Certainly a human-level intelligence then. He read the questions, and considered how to respond. She probably wouldn't want him to see her, so leaving the notebook for her to pick back up again was out of the question unless he left the area after doing so to return later. So he cleared his throat, assuming she was nearby, and started answering the questions out loud. "What am I doing here? Well, I'm curious about you - a creature of your kind has never been found elsewhere in the entire world, and I was curious about whether you actually existed and exactly how a creature such as yourself worked. My intention was primarily to confirm your existence, and possibly get a picture of you using my new camera, which is back at the camp. However, since we're communicating, my next intention was to take you back to my homeland so that I could run a few experiments and figure out what makes your biology tick, and write a paper on my findings. Who am I? My name is Leo Kammer, I am a scientist- if you know what that is... Um, it's a person who figures out how the world works using reason and logic, essentially, and shares conclusions with other scientists. When will I leave? Well, I hoped after I'd at least seen you. Now that we're communicating, ideally when and if you agree to come back to my homeland with me, but I suppose realistically it will be when my food runs out in around 26 days." Leo explained, speaking loudly but not yelling. He pocketed his notebook, and looked around the treeline, to see if he could see any sign of the creature. He cleared his throat again. "I don't suppose I could ask you any questions?" He ventured.

Kana waited high in the trees and was amazed he was answering her questions out loud, sadly the answers he gave were what she feared, just like all the other humans all he wanted was to study her like she was a monster, all he wanted was power...It made her angry, hearing him confirm how long he will stay helped, she was about to leave before he said if he could ask her any questions.
She sighed jumping further along the tree's putting some distance then yelled out "no just leave and don't come back!" Before quickly jumping further along toward home.

It was a very human-sounding voice. Leo was lost in thought about this for a while, then realised what that voice had said. "Confound and blast it." He muttered to himself. He must have said something to upset it... But what was he supposed to say to an entirely new creature? He sullenly and slowly made his way back to the camp. He wasn't going to give up yet, but this turn of events certainly were depressing to him. As he approached the camp, he recalled that she had gone near it one time. Though he wasn't getting his hopes up, he decided to leave a few messages for her. First, he wrote above his sketch: 'this is what I imagined you to look like - what do you actually look like?' and had an arrow pointing to a blank leaf of paper he set down next to it along with a spare pencil. Then he got out his world map and unfolded it, setting it on the ground. He left a note over it, reading: 'How much do you know about the world? The blue is sea, the rest is land. There's a scale for measurement in the bottom right.' She might have learnt everything there was to know from observing people, but he decided to leave it there just in case. He left a final one underneath all of these: 'Why do you want me to leave? Did my answers to your questions displease you?' Finally, he got out a candle, which he had brought along in case he found himself in an emergency in the dark, and stuck it in the ground near his messages. When it got dark he'd light it so the creature could see the messages - assuming it couldn't see in the dark, of course. Well, in the morning he'd most likely either find it all trashed by some other animal or completely untouched, but he felt it was worth a shot. He chowed down on some apples, which would go bad before the rest of his food so he had to eat them first, then lit the candle and went to sleep.

Kana stopped by his camp last night and was surprised to see a light, hopping down and walking close her eyes widened. She stayed there as she looked over the map, was this what the world looked like? She opened his notepad and saw the sketch the writing above the drawing made her giggle, he really thought she'd look so monstrous, she turned the page and began to write.
Then she quickly left after blowing the candle out, in the morning when he checked his notepad, he would see more messy writing 'your drawing isn't accurate, I don't look like a monster...I'm not telling you what I look like, I don't want anyone to know about me...All you humans care about is yourselves...But thank you...It's nice to watch you and communicate like this...Let's make this a game, if you can find me, then you can take a picture of me, if you can find me'.

Leo woke up at the crack of dawn, and immediately leaped out of the tent... To trip over and fall on his face as he ran into one of the supports for his tent. Picking himself back up, he hurried over to the messages he had left the night before. He held his breath as he read. He was excited about her challenge - though as he thought about it, it was really quite similar to the situation he had already been in. He quickly grabbed his satchel, containing his camera, and set off hurriedly. Then he stopped - he realised that his scent would be extremely strong after days of being in the hot jungle without a change of clothes. Alright, he'd wash in the river, then get to searching. He had to take this seriously now - he had to prove his fervour as a man of science!

Kana just woke up to a brand new day she was heading for the same river, she reached it pretty quickly since she knew the jungle better and she was pretty fast, she dunked her head into the river then brought it out shaking her head to get the water out of her hair, then she started to drink, her ears up high for any sounds.

Leo was strolling along happily whistling the Radetzky March. He hadn't started the hunt yet as far as he was concerned, he was first off to wash, and was completely oblivious to the logical conclusion that the creature may well be near the river at this time of day. He'd been distracted by the happiness at seeing the creature respond - and saying that she enjoyed communicating with him too! If he could find her and talk to her, he'd have so much to tell her as well: she would have lived in this jungle her whole life without ever knowing much about the outside world, most likely. He whistled louder in jubilation as he recognized his surroundings: he was near to the river.

Kana's ears twitched hearing the whistling quickly she ran and jumped high into the trees, she continued jumping from tree to tree putting distance between her and Leo.

As Leo approached the river and took off his satchel, he noticed footprints on the bank. Drat, drat, drat. He slapped his forehead in frustration with himself, but focused on getting himself washed first.
A few minutes later, Leo was back in his clothes. Thinking about it for a moment, he decided to leave his boots behind - it would be more uncomfortable if he stepped on anything or got his socks dirty, but the creature was going barefoot and he needed to try and match her stealth. Hopefully the socks would muffle his footfall more than going barefoot would, so he kept them on. Grabbing his satchel and slinging it back over his shoulder - he had to carry the satchel, unfortunately, the camera was too large and heavy to carry around by hand, and if he dropped it would probably be broken forever - he set off, crouching low to the ground and stalking as fast as he dared move.

Kana was already far away eating from her new kill, she couldn't risk dragging it back home with him hunting her, she ate as much as she could before she heard howls from the distance, she quickly jumped up into the trees and started heading back the way she came, jumping from branch to branch.

Hearing the howls, Leo froze. It wasn't the creature. What was it? He couldn't make it out clearly, and decided he'd better hide instead. He frantically looked around - and saw some overgrown roots from a tree had churned up some dirt, making a small burrow he could hide in. He checked to make sure no animal was using it as a nest, and then dived in, lying low underneath the roots, peering out fearfully. Slowly and carefully he reached into a pocket of his satchel, pulling out a revolver. If it came to it, he could probably manage to take on any animal that tried to attack him with the revolver, but he'd rather it didn't come to that.

Kana panted as she landed on a branch of a big tree, just above the burrow Leo was under "damn it, stupid wolves" she whispered, groaning as she sat on the branch, at least she got her fill but now she lost the rest of her precious kill.

(Ok, I'm going to bed now)
Leo kept completely still, but he was filled with excitement as he heard the whisper from above. It was the creature. He was sure of it. Slowly he tried peeking his head out of the burrow. He tried to be completely silent as he gradually pushed himself out, and looked up into the trees. Something was on one of the branches of the tree he had been under. He couldn't quite make out any features from this angle, but he was certain it was the creature. He drew himself out further, doing his best to be stealthy. He got a glimpse of her head and face - his sketch was unbelievably off the mark.

(kk)
Luckily for Leo, Kana didn't hear him, nor smell him thanks to the dirt, finally he could see her dark tan skin and light grey wolf ears poking out of her dark grey hair, her white tipped grey tail hanging slightly off the branch.
Kana sighed as she stood up looking down and her eyes widened, they were pure red in colour, her face looked pale as she quickly jumped up into the leaves to hide herself, she couldn't run and have him follow "g-go away before I howl and bring the wolves here" she yelled praying he didn't take her picture, the last thing she wanted was more humans.
