All around the world there are stories of animals that have supernatural abilities. More than enough to fill a library about their tales. Nearly every animal could be used to be an image for a spirit or even a god. Most are just speculation, wild accusations, tall tales. Made up stories to be an answer for strange occurances.
In a jungle it had its own story but it was no folklore. A jungle village was plagued by the threat of a bloodthirsty beast. A tiger twice the normal size. It’s coat was black as coal that you could barely see the stripes. The tiger was born blind in one eye but that didn’t hinder him in hunting. He killed the humans without mercy and they could barely hold their ground against it.
There weapon barely did any harm for not only its size but it was a immortal.
Nobody knows how that could be, but their weapons were near to useless against him. He earned the name Hadeon which meant destroyer.
When the humans feared they would be wiped out, another beast came. A giant snake that stood taller than their houses. And a mouth that looked like it could swallow a cow whole. It had shiny green scales; lighter on their underbelly and darker along their back. It seemed to be the end, for the snake was also an immortal being. Yet the unexpected happened. The snake attacked Hadeon and the two fought fiercely.
The fight went on until the snake had Hadeon in its coils and had choked him out. Yet all they had done was make him blackout. As he was immortal, it wouldn’t be enough to end him for good. To put a stop to him the snake threw Hadeon’s body into a deep pit. The snake then shed its skin which had power. The skin was draped over the mouth of the pit, becoming a barrier that he wouldn’t break out of.
But it would only last so long as Hadeon wouldn’t cease his efforts to claw his way out. The humans of the village went to the snake again. Kiri the one who saved them. The humans asked her for a new skin to hold the beast back. Yet during the battle, Kiri was injured by Hadeon’s claws. One of his swipes poisoned her. Being immortal she wouldn’t die but it did infect her heart with corruption. Because of this, Kiri wasn’t so willing to give such a gift again for free. Without her skin the people were at the risk of Hadeon's return. And thus an agreement was made; in exchange for her skin the people would give compensation. They shared their bounty of hunt and harvest to appease Kiri. But it wasn’t enough. The corruption made Kiri demand something more. As she had a home in the jungle away from their village, she named her price of a human to come with her for the rest of their life.
It wasn’t an easy choice, but one man stepped out from the crowd and offered himself. And just as said in agreement, Kiri took the human away from the village to live with her.
A whole moon passed and neither Kiri nor the man that left returned. The villagers would have gone to Kiri’s domain but they feared angering her and so they kept away.
The next morning; a man and a woman come to the village. The man was recognized as the one who left with Kiri. It was found out the woman was Kiri who came with a gift. In her arms was her snake skin which would protect their village for time to come.
The man somehow warmed Kiri’s ice heart that was poisoned, the cruel side of her literally shed off her. This new layer of protection even brought more of a happier life for the whole village. And for years it was peaceful. Until that peace came to an end as the man who stayed by Kiri grew old and perished. With his death the poison in Kiri’s heart was free and she turned back into a giant snake.
The village offered a new human male to go with Kiri in hopes of a repeat, but it wasn’t the same. The human failed to reach her like the one before did. It is said that she was so unpleased that she ate him. Without her magical scales the barrier that kept Hadeon at bay began to wear.
With terror at their door the village was nearing the end of their rope. How can they win over their only protector? Without a means to end Hadeon or cure Kiri they can only do one thing, hope the next is the one to win her heart.
