Michael cursed as another tree branch hit him in the face. It had been three hours since he had lost the walking trail and was now wandering aimlessly through the jungle. Waving his hand in front of his face to stave away the pesky bugs, he continued to search for anything resembling a trail or civilization. There were only a few hours of sunset left and he was beginning to get frightened. What would happen once the sun set? Would he even be able to see where he was going? What dangerous creatures would he encounter? Time would only tell as he continued to walk through the jungle.

Kalia stretched herself out, she basked in the sun and was waiting for the moment she can watch the sunset. Her burgundy and green tail was wrapped around the tree trunk, and she had stretched it out around the branches. She held it tight for a moment, as she felt her joints give a little pop. When she had gotten that, she retracted herself back to just one tree trunk.
Kalia was a lamia, a jungle creature that had a snake tail and a human upper body. She had black hair, tan skin tone, icy blue eyes, thin lips and an hour glass figure. Her snake tail was burgundy with green diamonds along her back. Even though it was a very unusual sight to see a lamia, it was even rarer to see a human out this deep into the jungle. She had heard stories of humans and had seen a few at a distance but never actually met one... until now.
The sounds of grumbling caught the lamia's attention, she looked down and saw a young man aimlessly walking through the brushes. Kalia had always been curious about humans and this human was close and he didn't seem to be carrying any weapons... but the lamia knew better than to just jump into view. She waited and followed the human until she saw an opening.

Michael had finally managed to locate a landmark to center himself directionally. A large rock lay in the center of a clearing not much bigger than a tennis court. Seeing the opportunity to stop here for the night, Michael walked over to the rock and sat down, leaning his back against the hard stone.
He was still worried about what the night may hold, but he felt a little safer now that he had some semblance of where he was in the jungle. He was confident that he could make it back to civilization by tomorrow.

Kalia saw the young man rest against the large rocks and slithered behind it. She leaned over, so only her upper human half was visible, rested her head in her arms, and smiled.
"Well hello there," Kalia said.

Michael jumped at the sudden voice above him. Quickly looking up he noticed a beautiful woman looking down at him from atop the rock. He would have pinched himself if he weren’t so transfixed on her features, her eyes in particular seemed to contain the universe within them.
“Uhm, h-hello?” He said nervously. He couldn’t tell if the woman was a hallucination, he may have been suffering from heatstroke after wandering the jungle in the intense heat for so long. He hoped that she was real. A human here meant that civilization was not far away!

Being this close, Kalia could really make out the facial features on this human. He was very handsome; the slightly above average build, hazel eyes and chestnut brown hair in a crew cut. Oh yes, she could just stare into those eyes all day.
She cleared her throat. "My name is Kalia and I live around here." she said. "Now, who are you and what are doing in the jungle?"

He stopped staring into her eyes with a slight blush. She was beautiful but he didn’t want to be rude and drive her away, she was likely the only help he was going to get.
“M-my name is Michael, miss. I am in the jungle because I got lost while I was waking a trail. I’ve been on my own out here for the past four hours, can you help me?” He looked up at her with hope.

"You mean to say you came from the human trail?" Kalia said. "Oh ways off. The good news though, I know how to get you there safely... the bad news is that there's no way we can get there before the sunsets and the jungle will be teaming with nocturnal predatorssss." she realized that she accidently let out a hiss. "But I can still help you. You're not a hunter, are you?" Kalia asked.

Michael pretender not to notice that strange lisp she had suddenly acquired. He was more focused on the fact that she could lead him do safety.
“Really? Oh, thank you miss Kalia!” He said happily. “It is almost sundown and I wouldn’t want to go into the jungle after nightfall. Is there any place that we can stay?” He asked. His face grew a horrified expression at her last question. “Of course not! I came to this jungle to experience nature not kill it!”

"Oh good, because this would have been awkward if you were." Kalia said. "Anyhow, I know a spot in the jungle where we would be safe but before I take you there I was one more question to ask you. How do you feel about snakes?"

Michael gave her a curious look, why would she ask him that? "Well, I happen to love snakes. They are misunderstood creatures that have been vilified by Hollywood and uneducated people. One of the reason that I took this vacation was to experience the wildlife." He replied, ending his sentence with an affirmative nod. "Why? Are there any snakes where it would be safe?"

"Well, that's not exactly why I asked but I wanted to be sure you didn't have a problem with snakes because..." Kalia said as she lowered herself behind the stone and slithered back into Michael's view. Her green and burgundy tail shimmered in the sunlight.

Michael's eyes widened as Kalia slithered her entire body into view. He couldn't believe what he was seeing! A long, green tail met her torso in a beautiful fusion. His eyes traced her entire body, moving from her pretty face and slowly down her chest eventually reaching her burgundy tail. He followed the coils with his eyes, trying to find the tip of her tail to no avail.
"Y-you..." Her managed to get out. "You are part snake?" He said to himself, not believing what he was seeing.
Most would suspect him to scream and run back into the jungle, instead his eyes lit up as he moved in for a closer look. "That's... AMAZING!" He said excitedly, taking a few steps towards her.
"If you don't mind me asking, Miss Kalia. Were you born like this? I thought snake-women were just mythology?" He asked, curious.

Kalia nodded at his first question and mentally prepared herself in case Michael was about to run and scream but she wasn't prepared for his actual reaction. His questions made her laugh.
"Yes, I was born this way. I am called a lamia while the males are called nagas." Kalia explained. "I'm surprised. I thought for sure you were going to scream and run."

He listed with interest as Kalia explained what she was. To say that Michael was fascinated would be an understatement. Not only had he found his ticket out of the jungle, he had also found a beautiful lamia to spend time with during the night.
"Perhaps others would run, I couldn't care less what you look like. You have been kind to me and that's all that matters in my book," He said with a smile. He looked up at the sky and realized that the sun would be setting in an hour or so, turning to look at Kalia, he spoke up. "So, did you want to go where it would be safe? The sun will be setting soon."
