Jacob's heart nearly jumped out of his chest after stepping outside the hut, seeing that the shadow was not a figment of his imagination, but in fact real. And clearly not friendly, either.
Again, Jacob thought to go back into the hut and wake Zeke. But the creature was moving fast, and would be long gone in a matter of seconds. Despite the likely danger, Jacob could not just let the shadow get away. And so, he chased after it, running in the same direction towards the wall as fast as he possibly could.

The creature was keeping low to the ground and it was fast. It didn't go in a straight line either. It zigged and zagged as if it knew someone was following it. But it did once it was at the wall. It then went along it and then stopped. The shadow seemed to grasp down and unfolded a tied weave. Lifting it up revealed a hole that was just underneath the wall. Like a dog going under a fence the shadow wiggle in and out in a flash.

The creature's fast and disorientining movements, combined with having to crawl through a hole in the wall, and dealing with the darkness of night made trying to keep up with it quite the challenge for Jacob. It was successful in putting more distance between itself and him, but that only made Jacob push himself to run faster, desperate not to lose it. Beads of sweat ran down his face and he panted harder and harder as he ran, pushing himself to the limits.

The terrain around them went by quickly, from flat, to thick trees, and then rocky. The shadow then reached a thick treeded area again and dove into some bushes.

Jacob came to a halt right in front of the bushes. He saw the shadow jump into them, so surely this was where the creature was now hiding. He approached the bushes with caution, one slow step at a time. Once he was directly in of them, he knelt down, spread the foliage apart, leaned in to get a better look, then lost his balance and fell forward.
But instead of face planting into solid ground, Jacob's entire body fell through a large hole that the bushes had been concealing.
"AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Jacob could only scream as he continued to fall through the tunnel. Luckily for him, the fall was not straight down, but instead was like going down a large slide, with the tunnel's floor set at an angle. So this fall would not be fatal.

When he finally came to a stop the tunnel opened up. Down on the ground in front of him old and unkempt remains of minecart tracks trailed down the tunnel that was now level for a person to walk through.
Hanging on the walls were lit oil lanterns. Each placed in a symmetrical pattern.

Jacob stood up and dusted himself off as best as he could. Looking back up the slide-like part of the tunnel, there was obviously no way he could go back to the surface the way he came. And so, his only option was to follow the mine cart tracks, hoping that he would eventually find another way out.

He didn't get far down the trail before a shadow could be seen from the corner of one's eye

And Jacob did manage to notice said shadow, but it disappeared just as fast as it had appeared. He stopped walking and stood stiff, straining his eyes to catch a glimpse of the creature again.
He was nervous, as the creature could attack him from the shadows at any moment. But thus far, it had made no move to do so. His heart was pounding so loud that he could hear it quite clearly. All he could do was continue to stand still, paralyzed with fear.

A hiss sound echoed through the tunnel and it was close.

With the sound reverberating off the tunnel walls, Jacob couldn't quite pinpoint where it's source currently was.
Jacob's nerves were now about to make him hysterical, and so the next thing Jacob could think to do seemed quite illogical: he tried to communicate with the creature.
"H-hello?" he called out, his own voice echoing, "Please don't hurt me. I don't mean you any harm..."

A body crashes into him knocking him face down to the ground. More hisses came from the body laying on him

"OOOOFFF!" Jacob grunted when he was tackled. He was disoriented for a mere second, then panicked even more and thrashed around, trying to crawl out from under his attacker.
"Get off of me!" he cried. "Someone! Please! Help!"

"Save your breath," the attacker said, speaking for the first time before him. "There isn't a single human soul here to come rescue you. You shouldn't have come here."
"How did you find the entrance?"
The one who spoke this time was different to the one holding him down.
Standing right in front of Jacob was something truly unbelievable. A lamia, a creature of a woman's torso and head. But where her legs should start and end, a long black tail of a snake existed.
The lamia had extremely pale skin as if she had never been out in the sun. Her eyes were red as blood. Tied up in a braid was long dark, dark brown hair.
The one holding him down was also a lamia, her skin was just as pale, and her eyes just as red. The real difference was her hair, which hung loosely down her back, black as coal. As well as her tail was the color dark green.
"What is going on over there?" a new voice called. This time to step out of the shadows was a male version of the lamias, a naga. He too had pale skin and red eyes. His difference was short black hair, a dark blue tail, and a burn on top of his left hand.
"What how did, never mind it won't change a thing."
"What should we do with him? The brown haired lamia spoke.
"I think we should that him to the center," the naga replied.
The lamia behind Jacob grabs his chin turning his face to look at her. The red in her iris vanished and was replaced with a ring of orange, green, yellow, black, and kept going.

When Jacob first heard the creature speak, that alone was enough to keep him speechless. But then he saw what it actually looked like... And then he saw that there were more of them...
While the creature conversed with eachother, Jacob was trying to convince himself that none of this was real, that this was just a nightmare he was having and he was really still asleep in the hut.
Then one of the creatures grabbed his chin and looked into his eyes. Jacob was about to plead to her to let him go, but then something weird happened with her eyes... something that he just couldn't look away from…
