Anika was a little surprised by the retractable weapon but she didn't show it.
"If you need to do something then go ahead and do something else," the woman said readying herself for a fight. "You want in, you'll have to beat me first,"

She wouldn't budge. Very well then. He'd put a few people in the ground to accomplish his goals; he could do it again if necessary. Though he would have preferred to settle things peacefully, he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty if that was what it would take to save Alice. The guard wouldn't be easy... But he'd fought worse before.
He ran up to close the distance between them, forcing her to fight using her spear as a close-range weapon and putting her at a disadvantage. He then rose his scythe to strike with all of his strength-which could come down on her head, finishing the fight quickly-but more likely would come down on her spear as she parried. In that case, he would just have to break her weapon.

Anika doesn't when the doctor ran towards her. She does take a step to the left, pulls a knife a uses both of her weapons to catch the scythe by the snath, and pushes the weapon away. Seeing an opening, Anika drops her spear and punches Jesse's face forcing him to back away with his scythe.
"Is that all you got?" The girl asked.

He briefly wiped some blood away from his lip, then rushed back at her. With his right arm he raised his scythe for another blow; with a flick of his left wrist he dislodged three scalpels from under his shirtsleeve and used them as claws for an uppercut slash. He knew she would instinctively block the scythe, so he could catch her by surprise with the other attack. It all happened in a few seconds, hardly slower than the time it took to think it through. She did indeed block the scythe again-almost strong enough to knock it out of his hand, but not quite-and then it was too late. She dodged to the left with split-second reflexes, but he managed to put three cuts into her left shoulder. Admittedly not as good as he was expecting, but good enough.

Polleana was finished with her inspection and came out of her hidden chamber. She was careful to make sure none were around. Some of her bees knew of the room's location. Her two subordinates Anika and () knew about the room but weren't told where it was. They didn't question the reason and it pleased Polleana. She starts walking down the halls to continue her work when suddenly she sensed something. She listened and heard her bees. The buzzing they were giving off didn't sound right. Not the calm hum as they worked. This sounded distressed. She opens her eyes in a sense of alert. "Something is wrong."

It happened faster than Anika expected but she managed to block the scythe a second time and move to the left but then came the sharp sting on her shoulder. She took a second to check the damage and it wasn't severe, thankfully. She stood up, in a defensive stands again, and faced the doctor.
"Even if you somehow managed to kill me, you'll never reach the Hive," Anika said sternly.

"You underestimate me. I'll do ANYTHING it takes to get that honey, since my friend will die without it." Was he being the bad guy here? Well, he'd be that as long as he had to. He wouldn't kill anyone unnecessarily. But if they got in his way...
He ran forward again, this time jumping when he almost reached her and flipping to land behind her for his next strike.

Anika was able to back just when the blade struck inches from her body but was caught off guard from the attack from behind. Just as Jesse was about to strike her again, the scythe was caught by a snake tail.
"Aww, you guys starting the fun without me," Kalia whined playfully. "That's not very nice,"
The lamia had slithered over when she heard the man's yelling and she pulls the scythe back, bringing Jesse with it before tossing him aside.

Jesse gasped in shock as the scythe was actually pulled from behind him, but he was sent crashing into the tangle of thorns and bushes before he could react. Wasting no time, he climbed back to his feet-but now he was facing two people. He surprised to see one of them wasn't even HUMAN.
He brought his scythe back up, this time in a defensive position. He would have to use a different strategy now. Hit for hit, he would go down twice as fast as they would-thrice if their teamwork was any good. No, this wouldn't do. He had to fight from a distance; maybe even lure one of them away from the other. No matter what he had to take the fight out of the clearing, where they had advantage in numbers, and into the denser undergrowth where it would be harder for them to coordinate their attacks.
Without a word, he ducked into the trees behind him and pulled another set of scalpels from his sleeve. Ironic how they could go through skin to help treat a patient, or just as easily to puncture an organ. He raised his hand and, in one blur of motion, threw them at the two guards.
Both of them dodged. That didn't matter, however. It was a distraction. They dodged to opposite sides of the clearing, leaving Anika open for just a few seconds. That would be enough. Dashing as fast as he was able, he hit her head with the flat of the scythe's blade-not enough to kill her, but enough to knock her unconscious. Had his resolve faltered, or would he have needed more time to finish her off without getting attacked by the other woman? He told himself it was the latter.

Kalia and Anika were able to dodge the flying blades easily, each moving in a different direction. Anika quickly got back up on her feet but she wasn't able to stop Jesse from knocking her out and she falls to the ground.
Seeing her friend down, the lamia became very angry and hissed at the man aggressively. She uses her tail to whip at his side and grabs his scythe. "No one's allowed in the hive, so get losssst," she hissed and she tries to pull the weapon out of Jesse's hands. In her rage, she hadn't realized that she left the gate slightly open.

He tugged as hard as he could, but she was stronger than she looked and kept her grip on his scythe. He gave her a vicious kick to the stomach, knocking the wind out of her-and, more importantly, knocking the device out of her hands. He then caught sight of the gate in the corner of his vision, and without a moment's hesitation, made a sprint for it.

Kalia gave a sharp gasp after Jesse kicked her and she curled up for a moment before noticing the man making his way to the gate. Aware of the stakes and full of anger, the lamia grabs Jesse's ankle as he runs, making him trip and fall face down, before tossing him back to the trees. She then grabs Anika, brings her to the gate door, and uses herself to block the entrance.

"You plan to fight me with her in your hands!?" He almost laughed, despite the gravity of the situation. Gripping some scissors, he ran toward the gate again. Whoever these two were, they wouldn't stop him from getting inside. No one could. He quickly threw them at her feet-or, rather, tail- where it would be hard to dodge with her hands full. And while she was looking down, he jumped over her. Should he finish her off now? Well, he'd keep running and get farther in so she couldn't throw him out again so easily. If she pursued him... He couldn't stop her from digging her own grave.

Suddenly a pair of arms slips under Jesse's armpits. Before he could have time to react, he was lifted off the ground several feet. "Enough," said a strong tone from a female voice. "Move and you will fall." Pollena was holding the human that has trespassed on her grounds high up that if he fell it won't kill but the hard surface will hurt him. At the hive her guard bees were getting antcy, a sign she could tell was distress. Now she sees why. A human has attacked her subordinates and tried to get in. This was a great risk putting herself in danger, but even a conman honey bee queen will sting to defend her hive.

He struggled, though the higher they got the less eager he was to fall. Why were there so many strange creatures here? Surely the honey was real since they were guarding it so heavily. "Stop it! You set me back down, or I'll-" he reached into his pocket for the scythe, but that wouldn't do him any good in his current position. "I'll..." he tried a flick of his wrist for another scalpel, but didn't attack just yet. If she panicked and dropped him, it could be a nasty fall. "I'll take you with me, if you try to harm me. Now put me down!" He actually gripped her arm with his other hand, in case her plan was to drop him then and there.
