"I'm lost," complained Christie as she wandered about the jungle. The blonde student was wearing a pith helmet to protect her from the sun somewhat, but the rest of her attire were a belly shirt, cut-offs and sandals. "According to this stupid map, I'm walking in circles."
She wiped her forehead, then sat down on a rock next to a tree to figure out where she was.

In the the tree Christie was resting under was a large Python with Purple scales and dark red diamonds runing down its back. This was Iris and she was resting comfortably until she caught a unfamiliar scent coming from nearby. Iris looked around below her spotting the blonde girl setting below her. Listening into the girl conversation with herself found out she was lost.
Being the friendly kind and playful Python she was decided to make herself known. Slithering down till she was just above the girl Iris let out quiet hiss to get the girls attention. "I hope this one isn't afraid of snakes." Iris said to herself.

"Huh?" Christie asked, looking around to see what made that noise. "Is someone there?"

Smiling that the hadn't yet spotted her Iris slithered down from the tree completely and coiled up next to the rock Christie was sitting on. The Iris hissed a bit louder to get the girl next to her's attention.

Christie shrieked as she turned in Iris's direction, spooked by the noise. Then she shrieked again and recoiled, as the yikes-a-snake factor kicked in. She took a second for her heart to slow its pounding. "Okay," she said, trying to reassure herself, "if I don't move, maybe it'll go away..."

" Well it's about time you noticed me girl-cub." Iris laughed. Quickly wrapping her tail around the girls mouth to keep her quiet Iris spoke again. " If you promise to stay calm and not scream again I'll remove my tail sound fair?" Iris asked calmly.

Christie blinked, then nodded. As soon as Iris unwrapped from her mouth, Christie said, "I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions, though...like, how are you able to talk?"

"I was born with that ability. Now my turn. What's a cute young girl-cub like you doing this far from the human villages? Also my Iris what's yours?" Iris gave a smile as she coiled up facing the girl.

Christie decided to roll with it. "My name's Christie. I'm not from any village, I'm from a place called America. I'm on a tour with my class."

Iris was surprised that this girl wasn't from the nearby villages but their was more humans in the forest now that concerned Iris a bit but not enough to care. " So you said before you we're lost maybe I can help Christie." Iris said in a friendly manor.

Hearing the villages name made Iris give surprised look. " I do know where it is but you'll never make it be for night fall and believe me you don't wanna be on the forest floor at night. So how about you spend the night here with me and I'll take there in the morning how that sound?" Iris asked.

Christie thought about it. She'd have to do some explaining when she finally caught up with her class, but better safe than sorry. Iris was, so far, the least threatening (and only) jungle predator she'd faced.
"Okay," she decided.
