A quiet dusk settled upon an aged town. Cracked towers loomed in darkness, the wind the only howling presence. Frantic footsteps crashed through one of the alleys in a heaving mess. Several slumped bodies littered the walls as he barreled into a stack of wood. He was a burly fellow, with a shredded T-shirt and jeans. His shoulder trickled in blood as his vision shook and blurred. Dense trees thrashed in the growing winds, and the distraught man snapped his vision to three different ways he could go. "No, gotta get outta here." He stumbled forward at a distant noise, his heart in his throat. Rounding another corner, there was a clearing into the nearby woods. "Heh, almost home free," he sneered, only for his heart to pound loudly in his throat, almost his head even. Only to find himself pinned to the wall with a hiss entering his ears. "Aw-" he choked, a numbing sensation at his neck, his motor skills shut down.
"I haven't had a chase like that in a while," came a satisfied sigh, a tongue lapping at the last few streams of crimson from the man she let escape her grasp. Hair of darkness tipped with orange framed a lean, curved girl. Slender fingers hugged the now lifeless body in a caressing hold. Trimming her hair behind rounded ears, golden slits studied the two pinprick marks she left behind. Her grin turned to a grimace as she held a hand to her head. "No, not again." Her demeanor completely changed as her caress turned to a hug of sympathy before laying the body and taking a fearful step back. Her voice quivered, disappearing into the darkness. Castle doors sprang open, only to be clamped shut and locked tight. Candles were the only light to fill the baroque style colossus, and the same girl sauntered to a recliner. A silken black dress hugged her petite frame as she closed her eyes. "I've got to find a way to keep this under control. This place is becoming a ghost town."

Well, in this ghost town, it would have one more person coming into the place. Most people who would come to a town that was showing his age and had no human caretaker to mange it any longer would normally move on or try to avoid this place entirely. However, this particular person wasn't really afraid of the lonely or the empty in this situation. Specifically, he actually was going to this wooded area for a new sort of project, a project that he wanted to do more so out of fun if anything. Said man was actually walking his way into the outskirts of the old town. This man was at least of average height for a man and was wearing a red shirt with jeans and black sneakers with white laces. He had short, brown hair and some facial hair growing around his face. One the most striking features about the boy was the camera he was holding up and taking a look around in the abandoned stores and towers that were just rotting away in the outskirts of said town. He really didn't know what happened to the town from what he heard. All he did know was that some sort of force was making people disappear when they came to this town, and most didn't know why other than cold case after cold case.
Being the curious young man of nineteen years of age himself, he figured that he'd take a risk and check out the place himself. After all, it's not like he brought anyone with him. Now, naturally most people would be horrified at the idea of a young man just going out on his own to a town infamous for random people vanishing, but he wasn't exactly normal in the relative sense. In fact, the appeal of the haunting and the mysterious did draw him to places like this, and judging from the rotting buildings as he moved further into the barren town, he was getting quite an eyeful.
He was fumbling with the recording button on the camera before sighing. "Okay camera...." He started to say while fastening it to his shoulder. "Let's see what we can find."

For what seemed like ages, there wasn't anything but the dying landscape. The boy might think it was becoming pointless and that it was just rumors that lead on yet another wild goose chase. That was, until he turned the corner. Sprawled upon the wall, slumped just a few hours, was the latest victim of our mystery girl, seated as if he was a passed out drunk.
In the shadows, the girl from before sneered at herself. "Ugh, I've never been sloppy before. I always take care of the bodies when I'm done. Now I'm losing my touch." She froze, plastering to a nearby wall and growling to herself. Someone else was in the alleys, and not far from her latest kill. She climbed the nearest wall to the roof, crawling on all fours and finding an odd sight. Not the human himself, but more what he was adorned with, an odd accessory atop his shoulder, and the behavior of moving through the streets. It wasn't mindless wandering, nor was it a fearful stupor. Something she hadn't seen in a long time. her attention on him was broken at the distant roar of thunder, for a lightning storm was approaching. She hoped he'd pass by the stranger and leave him be for her to take away from the situation, but the odd character was unpredictable, and she would have to act quickly.

The young man instantly looked up to see the lighting strikes in the gathering clouds. So, there was a lighting storm coming this way? Why do these things happen in the most cliche of places? Well, he might as well search for cover and wait until the storm passes. So far, there was really nothing of interest in this ghost town. It was just dying roads and rotting buildings that looked like they haven't been used for years. He wondered if he was being lead this whole time when it came to the legends of surrounding this place.
He moved down the alley, making sure that the light on his camera's working in the off-chance it got too dark. The sun was setting, though the darkening storm clouds made the setting sun more difficult to spot above the horizon. He would need to find some shelter beyond the alley. Unfortunately, that was when his camera swung to notice the man, sprawled out on the wall and looking like he was passed out. What was he doing here, or all places? He moved towards the man and spoke up.
"Hey..." He said quietly. "Are you okay?"

Of course, no reply came. At least, not from him. Perhaps a faint scurry on the roof would cause one's paranoia to rise, but otherwise the area remained still. One had to admit the body was left surprisingly well to fool any passerby, but if the man were to continue inspection, the body would slump, with head rolling to reveal the only cause of death at the base of the neck. To make matters more interesting, a hiss could be heard from behind him, followed by a dark blur as if his eyes were tricking him, a roll of thunder and flash of white following soon after.
She snickered as she toyed with him, darting back and forth, but all the fun had to come to an end. "You'd best leave him be," she called out, gentle and concerned. "You should probably seek shelter, it's not exactly safe around these parts." She revealed herself from around a corner, a few yards away he could make her out.

That lack of response made a chill of nervousness finally crept over the mans body. Maybe he was just sleeping, but the lack of his chest going up and down didn't indicate any sign of sleep at all. Well, maybe it was shallow breathes because he was drunk. The problem with that? This was AN EMPTY TOWN, the bars were not open anymore, and who in their right mind would go to a ghost town and get drunk, especially when there was a storm coming? He would've reached out to touch the man to see if he was really alive, but a smooth hiss made him jump back and turn around, his camera frantically swerving to find what made that hiss. A snake perhaps? The flash of thunder did nothing to calm his beating heart that felt like it was gonna pop right out of his chest and up his throat. Then came the smoother voice, and he turned to see...a woman. She sounded concerned about him, but where the heck did she come from? He could see her coming from the corner. She looked really pretty, and with a nice black dress to compliment her. Still, why would she be out here at such a coming night?
Breathing steadily to calm himself, he slowly moved over to the corner. "I-I could say the same about you." He shakily said as he observed the girl. "Who are you? I thought this town was a ghost town."

"There will be time for answers, but now we must seek shelter. This is most likely unlike any storm you've encountered before." Her eyes narrowed curiously at the contraption he possessed, but her study was cut short, for a blast of thunder cracked in her ears, the zap of white lightning crashing down on the roof of a building only a block away. She cringed, covering her ears and falling to one knee. "There will be more. There's a castle not far from here. Come, quickly."

He would've asked more questions, but the lighting strike that close to them made him think that maybe this wasn't the best place to ask the origins of this strange girl. Plus, there was a castle? A really odd place to be in this sort of modern town, but seeing as where he traveled to, that wouldn't be surprising. He moved over to her as quick as he could, following her to the castle.

It wouldn't take long for him to see the gargantuan monument. Just a turn around a building and the outline could be seen for miles away. Great spires, fortified walls, heavy gates, it loomed even in the darkened lighting of the storm. The harder part was getting to the gate, through a labyrinth of rubble and sprays of lightning from the sky, it was as if nature herself was angry for trespassers on the land about them. They made it to one of the great, rising drawbridges, lowered across a great moat, unscathed, though there were a few close calls. "We should be safe in here. Quickly," she said. She was really worried since she had to slow her speed considerably for the mortal, almost hissing under her breath at her worsening luck, even if it came with the perk of having a potential meal waltzing into her halls. She gently grapped his shoulders, ushering him through with a gentle push. As she let, go, she felt a razing pain shoot through her shoulder and down diagonally through her left leg, another resounding crash muffling her gasp. Her vision flickered, passing out with two wisps of grey-black smoke rising from her shoulder and foot, a light show rushing across the sky and the landscape, wind beginning to howl where the trees were thrashing horribly. She landed face first on the ground. Just beyond the bridge was a door leading into what he might think would be the entrance to the great hall of the castle.
