So, you want to be in the role playing contest, do you? Well, we would absolutely LOVE to have you join in this year’s contest! I welcome anyone and everyone to sign up and join this little event of ours. Before you sign up though, there are some important things you’re going to need to be aware of first! Important dates:
The signups for the role playing contest will begin officially on March 1, 2019 and run through March 31, 2019. During this time, people wishing to participate will need to not only sign up for the contest, but find a partner as well. How to do this will be sorted out in a different post. Starting April 1, 2019, all participating members will be able to start their contest entries. You will be able to work on your entries from April 1st through August 31, 2019 which gives participants a whole five months to work on their projects. I am reserving the right to add a month’s extension to our dates and give everyone an even six months if need be. For that to be initiated though, we’ll have to reassess things at a later date. Rules:
Before you sign up for the contest, you need to understand that there are several rules you are going to have to follow if you do decide to participate. A lot of the rules I’m going to post are holdover rules from last year’s experiment with a few modest exceptions. If you plan on joining the contest, please make sure you read ALL of these rules and prepare to abide by them accordingly. 1. Your contest entry must be done HERE on KainaKaa and abide by the standard rules we allow on the site. If you are unsure of what our rules are, those can be found in the Site Information and Notification portion of our forums. 2. Contest entries must feature a new, original story. Participants can’t submit something that has been written before the contest’s start date. As well, entries can’t be sequels or prequels to something previously written. 3. The characters that participants use in their contest entry must be completely original. The use of established characters from books, movies, cartoons, anime, etc. is not allowed. 4. As this is a role playing contest on a forum dedicated to the subject of hypnosis, each contest entry will be expected to in some way feature hypnosis. The use and purpose of hypnosis must be as original as possible. However, participants may draw inspiration and use elements from various, classic hypnotic encounters so long as they aren’t cookie-cutter repeats. 5. A contest entry must be completed within the time allowed and is not allowed to go over 50 forum pages in length. 50 forum pages is the absolute longest that your story can be. The rules for the contest are very simple and mostly boil down to participants being as original as possible with their characters, stories, and usage of hypnosis. As long as you do that while keeping your entry to a max of 50 forum pages, you should be just fine! Contest Function:
When it comes time for the actual contest to start, you and your partner will make a new role play here on the forums in the appropriate setting. In the title of your story, you MUST include the initials CE-19 before your title. EX: CE-19: The Jungle Book. The purpose of these initials is to let us know that you are entering your role play into the contest for 2019; Contest Entry 2019 (CE-19). Without those initials, neither I, nor anyone else will know that your role play is being submitted for the contest, so they must be present. Once you do that, you and your partner are free to spend the next five months investing time into your entry. You can work on your entry as frequently as you want and may finish at your own pace. So long as your entry is finished by the deadline of August 31, 2019, you can work on your story at any pace you so choose. When the deadline finally comes, I along with the other judges will evaluate each story individually and give it a score based on how well the participants performed. An established set of criteria allows for each story to have a maximum of 24 points and each judge will work to determine how many of those points will be granted to a story. Once the judgements are in, scores from all of the judges will be tallied together and ultimately the entry that ends with the most points from all the judges in the end will be declared the winner. This is more or less how the contest will function and how winners will be decided. As far as who is judging though and what our judging criteria is… Judges and Criteria:There will be four judges that will be overseeing the contest entries this year. These judges include myself, and fellow staffers Hannah and Cydonia. As well, BlisseyMouse has graciously volunteered to help the three of us out and will also be serving as a judge. I’ve personally given each judge a little review test to examine their skills and abilities and I’ve come to find that these individuals are honest people who will judge clearly and fairly. You can rest easy with the four of us as sitting judges, I promise. Now as for what we will be judging in the contest… Below is a table skillfully thought up and made out by fellow staffer, Minibobini. In it, you can see the criteria we will be looking at along with how points will be established per category. Make sure you study it carefully and consider it when doing your projects…

| - Little to no hypnosis - Stale, overused, and/or rushed hypnotic scenes - No variety in hypnosis - No reasoning or logic behind hypnotic encounter(s) - Lack of clear purpose or point behind hypnotic usage
|
The table is very straightforward and if you hope to achieve the maximum number of points possible to win, you need to strive to do what it takes to get a solid 4 in each category. As I said, the entry at the end that has the most points will end up winning and the judges and I will be evaluating your work to decide how many of those points you deserve. Carefully consider your entry when you do it and strive to include the criteria we will be looking for. Prizes:
The prizes for the contest are still a bit up for debate at this time as I am currently working to bring more to the winners. However, there are some things that will be guaranteed to those that win. So, for those that produce the winning entry, each participant will be given a custom title that will be displayed on their profile here on KainaKaa. That title may be anything you want it to be so long as it’s appropriate and resides within our rules. As well, your role play will be moved into a sort of hall of fame section which will house your work for everyone to see. It will be a shining example of your team’s prowess and creativity everyone will be able to see. Along with this, I HOPE to have another prize for the winners which includes a custom picture featuring a moment from your role play brought to life. In the event I manage to find a suitable artist, the participants of the winning entry will be allowed to JOINTLY decide on a moment they would like to see drawn and brought to life in the form of a single picture. That moment can be something within the role play, or a request of your characters in a certain pose featured together in a poster-image type of thing like the cover art you’d see on movies and books…whatever you’d like it to be! Now I can’t guarantee that the picture will be an official prize, but I will spend the next five months working to find an artist to make this as much of a reality as possible; that I will promise you. Side note: In the event I have to go offsite to find an artist for this prize, it would help me considerably if your characters had references pictures of sorts for the artist to consider. Though in no way required, if you could in some way come up with reference pictures for the characters you are using, that would help in this aspect tremendously. You can use avatar building sites or anything to design your characters. Just make sure they are original!

So now that you know about the rules, dates, and other important details like that, it’s time for you guys to actually get started signing up and getting setup for the contest! Now if you already know you want to join the contest and have a partner in mind, that’s great! I’ll explain what you need to do in a moment. For those of you though that may be new to this event or don’t have a partner yet, you’re going to need to sign yourself up. Think of yourself as a free agent at this point… You need to let us know that you are freed up by posting that you are joining the event and then post a bit about your preferences and stuff so others can gauge you! If you aren’t sure what I mean, this is more or less an example. So let’s say I decide to join the contest and I don’t have a partner! I need to let the people running this event know I’m joining and let others who join the contest or are considering it know I’m available and what I offer/prefer. My post would look something like this… ******************************************************************************** Username: Emiko Preference: Prefer to be the subject/victim, though will be hypnotist under certain conditions. Interests: When it comes to the classics, I’m the type of person who enjoys partaking in those classical snake-encounters like what we see in the Jungle Book. For me, that pretty much means playing the part of a helpless human that runs into the dangers of a hypnotic snake or serpentine like character. The ultimate goal I enjoy in those types of role plays is the serpent character having all the power and the ultimate goal of using the victim as a source of food or entertainment. Basically being a stranger in a foreign environment where I’m hardly at the top of the food chain or the chain of command. Outside of the classic snake encounters, I am willing to do things centered around humanoid characters such as vampires, magicians, or other things like that. In stories like these, I tend to enjoy a mysterious/dark setting maintaining that foreigner in a strange land scenario where the power isn’t mine. These settings could be war scenes, dystopian societies, ruins or other things like that. As with the hypnotic snakes, I’d like the ultimate goal for the hypnosis to be something akin to my character being perceived as a source of actual use for the hypnotist. Example: food source for a vampire, drained willed slave to a cult, etc. I’m more comfortable working around serpent-like beings, but I can work with humanoid characters if need be. As for who I’d like to work with…I can work with just about anyone as long as they understand that they role I play is geared towards the submissive. I’ll most likely prefer to play a female victim in any scenario. The hypnotist if it’s a snake or serpent-like creature can be either male or female. However, any hypnotic character that takes humanoid form needs to be female for me… I MAY be willing to play the part of a hypnotist with the roles swapped if the goal can remain similar despite our roles. However, I’d only play a female humanoid character seeking to induce another female victim. I’m not entirely comfortable with male humanoid hypnotists, or male victims if the roles end up swapped. ******************************************************************************** …Now I realize my contest signup submission is a bit detailed and long, but that gives other free agents, or people considering joining an opportunity to see what I enjoy and see how it stacks up to their own interests. At this point, I would be signed up for the contest and labeled as a free agent for others to reach out to. In the same way, if you don’t have a partner, you will need to sign up for the contest in this way so people can know you are joining and what you bring to the table. Once you’ve signed up for the contest, it’s time for you to start looking for a partner to role play with. You can reach out to other people who have signed up which will be listed on the first page, or reach out to friends that you know. Remember that it is YOUR responsibility to find someone to work with. You will have all of March to sign up and find a partner, but if you can’t find one by the deadline, you are out of luck. I will not play match maker or hold your hand during this process. If you want to participate in the contest YOU have to find a partner, end of story. Now let’s say that you FINALLY found a partner, or that you already had one. It’s in this instance that you are going to make another post (if you haven’t already) stating that you are going to partner up with so-and-so. In doing that, your partner needs to post in this thread as well confirming to say that they are with you and you will be added as an official team. BOTH parties MUST confirm that they are a team, or it will not be logged as official. As I said, if you already have a partner planned, just post who that is, have them confirm it, and you are good to go. If you DON’T have a partner, make sure to sign up using the example I provided and seek out a partner. Once you find one, post who it is, have them confirm it, and you’ll be good to go. Remember, you have one month to do this! Make it count! Once you find a partner and get it confirmed, you must understand that there is no going back. You can make changes to your partners during March if all parties involved agree, but once the contest actually starts, there is no going back. When the contest officially starts, whoever you selected as your partner you’re stuck with for the remainder of the contest. Trying to change partners will result in an immediate disqualification, so choose carefully. Outside of that, everything should be pretty well summed up! I want to wish everyone ahead of time who is participating in the contest this year the best of luck. Make sure to sign up early and get to work forming your teams! Once your team is built, start planning your plot and get ready to work on it on April 1st when this event starts. For now, that’s all I have to say. So consider the signups for the 2019 role playing contest officially open!

So...I know it's only been 5 days, but I'm a bit surprised that no one has signed up for the contest as of yet. There are people who want to participate...right?

Username: Nitari Windrider
Preference: Prefer to be the hypnotist/predator. Willing to entertain being the subject/victim
Interests: I'm new to writing hypnosis/mind control stories so it's hard for me to pin down what specifically I'm good at or interested in. I do have some experience in vampire stories but mostly I'm outside my usual comfort zone and looking forward to trying new things.
