Mink turns on her side, then turn to the other. She sits up no longer able to sleep peacefully. Turning to the side of her bed, she looked down and saw her feet. Climbing out of bed she crosses the room to the mirror hanging on the wall. Standing before her was a young female with long black messy hair from tossing, and brown eyes. She touched her cheek which was beginning to get some color.
Outside the first rays of sunlight was coming out. Crossing the room she walked to the balcony and opened the doors. The air outside was still nippy, given she was outside in just her nightgown and no shoes. As she watched the sun come out Mink reached out a hand towards it. The sun was warm, not painful, and so bright.
”Only dreams and old memories,” she told herself.

An hour passed as the sun rose even more, landing the cool air more and more of its warmth. And at some point within that hour a certain smell filled the entire house, wafting even into the room that Mink had restlessly tried to sleep in. Pancakes. Hot and fresh.

Mink comes back inside after catching a whiff. She goes to the dresser and picks out some clothes. This was still a bit new to her. Before she and her people didn't have to worry about clothing. Males never wore anything and the females only cover their chest. It took some time before she was able to dress herself with this new wardrobe. She slips on a simple sky blue shirt, and a pink skirt. Zeke told her that the colors make her look cute. She quickly fixes her hair with a brush and then exits the room to the kitchen.

Hearing Mink enter, the man making the pancakes turned from the food to see the young lady enter the room. His name was Zeke. He was right in the middle of his middle ages, with grey hair sprinkled in the brown hairs of his beard and head, though his hairline was receding. He was not particularly heavy, though he was a bit plump. Burrently he was only wearing a plain white t shirt, and grey sweats.
After Mink had become human, she needed help to adjust. Not only to her new body but human society as well. Zeke had allowed her to stay under his roof for the last several months, treating her as a daughter of her own.
"Good morning, Mink!" Zeke greeted with a smile turning right back to attend to the pancakes. "I hope you don't mind me making some breakfast. I know that Jake wants to take you to the diner today. I just thought it would be best to put at least a little food in your stomach now. It's hard telling how long it'll be before he gets here. You know that nasty habit of his, sleeping in so fashionably late."

Mink takes a seat at the dinner table awaiting the pancake to be ready. She gives Zeke a arm shrug. "I know he likes sleeping, he enjoyed it when I helped him rest before."
It had been over a week after the Angune's curse was broken that Mink and Jake came clean with Zeke about everything that happened. Everything. He knows that Mink use to be a lamia that was cursed to live underground and feed of a constant diet of blood. And that she was the one who took Jake the night he dissapeared.
It took some time before Mink began getting more adjusted to regular human life. Like sleeping during the night.. and walking.

Zeke chuckled as he scooped up a couple of hot pancakes and set them on a plate. He then grabbed a fork and set it on the plate as well. He then placed the plate on the table in front of Mink, placing the bottle of syrup in front of her as well so she could use as much as she wanted.
"Speaking of sleep, how has it been going for you?" the man asked as he turned to make hi.self a plate. "Hopefully those nightmares of yours have become less severe."

As Mink reached for the syrup she halted at the question. After a pause for half a second she grabs the bottle and pours some on her pancake. No her nightmare haven't been getting better. They still keep coming.
Mink grabs her fork and knife and tries to cut. Before she never used silverware for eating so her cuts were not so neat.

Sitting down at the table with his own plate, Zeke gave Mink a look of concern. Her silence and body language said it all. With a sigh, he grabbed the syrup bottle to pour it on his pancakes.
He wished that the poor girl didn't have to suffer in her sleep so much. She had enough to go through, learning how to be human in a matter of months. There was still so much she was shaky at. Having a hard time sleeping must have been a hard burden to carry on top of everything else she had to deal with.
"You know those days are over now." Zeke said, trying his best to find the right words to say. "Think of all the days out in the sun you've gotten to enjoy. Maybe if you try to think about the last few months with Jake and I whenever you are falling asleep, maybe your dreams will be better."

"I have but there are times where it feels like everything is backwards. Like this is the dream and I'm still the snake. I'm sorry Ezekiel, you've done so much for me. You and Jacob." Mink gives herself a shake and begins eating. The cakes were so warm and sweet. She really enjoyed these chances to try new foods. With the way things were the Angumbras didn't have a chance to cook. They had to eat only what they could find.
And the pancakes were helping in making her feel better.

Zeke was quiet for a moment, deep in thought as he ate, before speaking again. "This is what's real, I can assure you. There us nothing snake like about you. You are human. And I an ni dream. I care about you as I would a daughter. And Jacob cares even deeper for you. I believe he has proven that."
Without specifying, Zeke was sure that Mink knew what Zeke was referring to. Specifically, what Jake had done that final broke the curse that Mink and her people were under.

"MMhm," she hummed from her throat. She take some more bites of her pancake before asking him a new question. "Zeke, has a new adventure come yet?"

Zeke gave Mink his trademark warm smile. "Well of course. We actually should start packing in the next day or so. You sure seem eager."

"Yeah, this will be the first time I get to go along." The thought of seeing the world outside her prison, was the reason Mink wanted to go with Jake and Zeke. When the curse was broken the Angumbras, or now called the Angunes took up shelter in the village till they could rebuild their home on the surface. But on the same day Zeke and Jake had to return back to their home. Without giving it a second thought she went with them.
During the months requests for new destinations came to Zeke and Mink wanted to go with. But Jake thought it best not to let her come along till she understood humanity a bit more. And now at last he said he was fine with it.
After she finished her breakfast, Mink takes her dishes to the sink. "Thank you," she says and then walks to the living room. On a coffee table was a crafting case. After learning from Jake that Mink likes pretty stones, Zeke got her a craft kit to make accessories with beads and rhinestones.

Finishing his own food, Zeke went into the living room as well, sitting on the couch and grabbing his laptop and opening it up. He needed to research the site they would be venturing to some more, as well as making contact with the locals so he could make visiting arrangements.
Mink and Zeke both sat doing their own thing for around another hour, when suddenly the doorbell rang.

"I will get it," Mink says. Putting down her things she walks over to the door and looks through the peephole just like Zeke taught her.
