Mowgli was soon finished eating, she sighed as she scanned her surroundings "I'm really going to miss the jungle" she said to herself sounding dejected, but she knew she had no choice.

Kaa decided to take this chance. He quickly lowered his tail, not bothering to approach Mowgli stealthily as it didn't really matter whether she saw him or not, and scooped her up by looping his tail round under her knees and raising her upwards like a pulley. Once she had entered the semi-enclosed space created by the leaves, like a kind of chamber or dome over the thick branches, Kaa stopped and held her in place like she was sitting on a high chair. "And why are you going to miss the jungle, my dear?" Kaa asked, voice dripping with false sweetness. He was genuinely curious, but he cared more about playing around with her.

Mowgli gasped startled remembering Bagheera's warning she kept her vision away from him and tried to get out of his coils "I wasn't talking to you" she replied not wanting to anger the snake by being rude.

"Oh, who were you talking to?" Kaa asked, chuckling. He let Mowgli push his coils off, and noticed her trying to avoid his gaze. "Do you not want me to look at you?" Kaa asked, feigning a mix of hurt and confusion, when in fact he felt neither.
"Well, why don't you look at me?" He continued, floating his head over to hers and taking hold of her chin with his tail tip gently to try and guide her face towards his. As he did so, he let a few lazy spirals go through his eyes to see how she would react.

Finally being free of the coils she got off the float and as soon as Kaa tried to get her to face him she quickly turned around "no thank you, Bagheera warned me plenty about you, I'm not falling for anything" she stated, walking towards the trunk of the tree hoping for an easy way down.

"Ohoho, did he indeed?" Kaa replied, and followed Mowgli as she set off along the branch.
"Perhaps Bagheera just wasn't patient enough to learn to trust me." He added conversationally. He wasn't really trying to convince her, just trying to distract her. As they neared the end of the branch and got a better look of the long drop down, he chuckled again. "I can help you get back down, Mowgli. But you'll have to trust me." He said in what he hoped was a sincere-sounding tone of voice.

Mowgli frowned at the drop, it was too long for her, she almost looked up to the snake but didn't "I trust Bagheera, if he said your not to be trusted then I'm not trusting you" she said scanning her surroundings for a vine or another way down besides Kaa.

"Well, since you trust Bagheera... What do you think Bagheera would do in this situation? There's only one logical way down, and besides I could have coiled you up by now and kept you here by force - what have I done to be worthy of distrust? I think if you think it through, you'll find that Bagheera would have to trust me if he were in your shoes - or feet, I suppose." Kaa said to her, now keeping a respectful distance to try and drive his point home. He'd blown it a bit by trying to hypnotize her again, so Kaa began trying to explain his way out of that one too. "I was just showing you the spirals to get you to relax and feel good, you understand? It can be stressful in the jungle." Whilst he was talking, he searched around with his coils for any long vines that Mowgli wasn't currently looking at and sneakily snapping them off the tree, chucking them into the river where the washed away downstream.

That made sense to Mowgli, but it wasn't that easy "how can I know you'll just lower me back down?" She asked curiously.

"If I was just using this as an excuse to coil you, I could have done it by now. Furthermore, put yourself in my shoes - scales, maybe - for a moment. Bagheera's told you not to trust me, but what nefarious motivation could I have behind the things I've done so far? I haven't tried to hurt you or eat you... What motivation would I have not to let you down, but to keep you up here? None! The conclusion is obvious. I'm just trying to be helpful - I only brought you up here so I could say hello, girl-cub, is that so hard to believe?" Kaa went on, feeling like he was on a roll here. He remembered Mowgli batting his tail away when they first met, and decided to gauge how she felt about him by seeing how'd she'd react to that this time, so he reached out with his tail to rub her head affectionately as he talked at her.

Mowgli listened to Kaa's words and in a sense he was right, seeing his tail approaching her head she backed away only slightly "well...A-Aren't you mad? For what happened last night?" She asked now unsure.

Kaa put on a wide grin of this, as if to assure her this wasn't the case in the slightest. "Oh no, my dear, I'm not cross at all! Anybody would do that with Bagheera telling them all sorts of nasty rumors, it was an honest mistake." Kaa said. It wasn't entirely untrue, it was only to be expected that it would happen and he was more cross with himself for letting his guard down at that crucial moment.
"But since you bring that up, don't you think I have to try and trust you too? Try and trust that you won't shove me out of the tree? We both need to trust in each other, Mowgli." Kaa added, trying to work any guilt she may have to his favour. He patted her head softly as he said this, her hair was quite curious compared to other creatures who didn't wear fur that long anywhere, never mind their head, so Kaa found it quite interesting.

Mowgli frowned she did still feel bad about last night "I am sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you" she said not looking at him still but maybe lowering her guard somewhat "so...Can you help me down?" She asked.
(I'm going to have to head to bed it's almost 1am)

(Same for me)
"Certainly." He said, and set out a seat of coils for her to descend on, which he gestured to with his tail. "I'm glad you've decided to trust me, Mowgli." He added, grinning at her to try and encourage her to look at him - not to hypnotize her, but rather to show that he wasn't hypnotizing her. He wasn't too worried about it either way, as far as he was concerned he had her as good as caught now.

Mowgli gulped slightly nervous but she got into the seat of coils not looking at Kaa yet.
