Shanti was sleeping peacefully at first until a loud roar woke her up, rubbing her eyes she stumbled out from under the overhang looking around and not seeing Shara nearby, she was worried for Shara, she couldn't just leave her.
But if Shanti got herself caught all of this would have been for nothing...It was a hard choice for Shanti to make but she crossed the river, heading into the deep jungle, she needed to make some distance and hope Shara would be okay.

Wrapped around the tigress's middle, Kaa peered into the empty overhang. Shara had told him this was where Shanti had been sleeping, and had even been nice enough to carry him there, but it seems her earlier disobedient roar had alerted the girl to danger - there was no sign of her. Even so, he smiled. Prey never ceased to underestimate how useful they could be to him. "Track her scent." He ordered Shara - and was surprised when Shara stood still, jerking her head, trying to resist. Even now, she was trying to protect her adoptive sister... Kaa slithered onto her head and hung upside-down into her vision, spirals spinning once more. "Sssssshara, we musst find your sssssissster sso we can keep her sssssafe." He hissed, and Shara's ears twitched in response. Tigers had such sensitive hearing - that was the key to entrancing them thoroughly. Her face sagged in a dopey smile, and with a nod she put her nose to the ground and started following the lingering smell left by Shanti.

Shanti kept running, she panted as she stopped, she couldn't run forever and needed to find a safe place to stay, it had to be somewhere hidden, where animals can't follow her scent...Shanti walked onward finding a muddy area, quickly she covered herself in mud, making sure every area of human skin was covered before she resumed walking, soon finding a big tree with a small hollow, she gathered leaves and sticks, sticking them to her clothes and squeezing herself into the hollow.
She had to be very quiet and stay very still, it wasn't a good place to sleep but Shanti figured she wouldn't be able to sleep tonight anyway.

Shara followed much faster than Shanti could move, but somewhere on the other bank, she lost the scent. Kaa wondered if it was the denser foliage on this side... He pushed Shara to keep searching and searching, to try and think where Shanti might hide. Nothing turned up. It was possible Shanti had slipped past them... But Kaa wanted to make sure, first. "Well, since I can't find the human, I shall have to eat you instead." Kaa called out loudly. He wasn't hungry, he'd eaten quite recently and was still digesting his last victim's remains - it was a trick, in short. He couldn't stomach the thought of eating Shara, a big tiger like herself would utterly stuff him, not to mention that she remained very useful to him. But Shanti didn't know that, and Kaa was counting on it - he began coiling Shara up, as if preparing to eat. The exhausted tigress fell into a light sleep at the touch of his coils, smiling cluelessly.

Shanti heard it, she wished she could help Shara but she was a human and she can't trust that Kaa would keep to his word if she told him not to eat Shara, she closed her eyes tight and mentally prayed for Shara, she felt awful that she can't do a thing to save her sister.

Kaa waited for Shanti to appear... But there was nothing, the jungle was empty and silent. "Wake up Sssshara - time to leave." He whispered - it never hurt to be stealthy. The tigress yawned as Kaa unwrapped her, and let him grasp tightly around her middle again in a domesticated manner that clashed strongly with every aspect of the tigress's wild, free appearance. Quickly and quietly, the pair dashed into the night. Kaa urged Shara on, eager to make progress - Shanti, he was now mistakenly sure, had gone on ahead, but would need to rest soon. All he had to do was make some good distance, then he and Shara could rest themselves, ready to pick up the trail again in the morning.

Shanti stayed in the tree hollow, she didn't really hear anything, she didn't feel safe enough to fall asleep but did so in a couple of hours.
The night passed by and morning came, Shanti woke up feeling sore, her body was in this small hollow all night and she didn't feel rested at all, still she got out and resumed heading deeper in the forest, she hoped she could find a lake soon to wash herself and maybe some food that could perk her up.

Kaa awoke hidden behind thick bushes. Shara had found a lake for them to stop at the previous night, where they'd taken a drink and then settled to sleep. He looked up at the tigress - his coils were wrapped all around her as she lay sprawled, smiling in her sleep. As peaceful as she looked, it would be no good to have her waking up from his control, and either clawing him or finding Shanti. So he started hissing in her ear, spirals running through his eyes, and he gently lifted her eyelid with the tip of his tail. Her unfocused gaze slowly awoke from one kind of sleep into another as her other eye opened to groggily get a better look at his eyes. "Yeeeeesss, perfect... Back under my sssspell, Ssssshara, well done..." Kaa cooed. There was something quite unfair about hypnotising someone before they even got a chance to wake up, but sportsmanship could wait for safer prey...

Shanti walked and walked, not really sure where she was going, she found a lake, taking a glance around she couldn't see any dangers or hear anything. Shanti approached the lake and cleaned the mud off her body, Shanti still felt bad about Shara...But what could she do?
Shanti still had no plan, she just had to keep moving and maybe Kaa will lose interest in her, it was her only hope.

"Shanti!" Shara called, dashing out of the bushes to run up and nuzzle her adoptive sister. "Thank goodness you're safe! Somehow we got separated last night... I wanted to say goodbye properly before I left!" She said.
Kaa chuckled to himself - just the tiniest bit of memories gone, and the barest hint of a suggestion, and Shara was unwittingly aiding his plans. "Mosssst elegant, Kaa." He congratulated himself in a whisper - he was slithering stealthily through the undergrowth, circling around to behind Shanti. He began assembling a big pile of his coils in the branches just above where the two of them were speaking, preparing...

Shanti looked over and hugged Shara tightly "Shara! What happened last night?" She asked, maybe Shara didn't get caught by Kaa and she worried over nothing.

"Last night..." Shara's gaze grew distant in sudden recollection. "Last night, Kaa appeared, and I roared to warn you, but... But..." Shara began slowly, uncertainly, but then something seemed to click in her head, and the rest came much more easily. "But unlike the night before where he caught me by surprise, I was ready this time, and I resisted the serpent's thrall! After I chased him away, I followed you across the river. You're safe now... Kaa will never trouble you again." She concluded, with now complete certainty, in contrast to how she started. She couldn't quite figure out why she was so certain that Shanti was safe from Kaa now - after all, she'd chased him away the first time he'd tried to ensnare the young woman and he came back. But something made her feel completely sure that he was gone for good this time. She also couldn't help but let a boastful tone enter her voice as she said she resisted Kaa - it hadn't occurred to her how Shanti might feel about it.

Shanti waited for Shara to remember, still it seemed odd for Shara to not remember right away but it sounded like she went through a lot "oh Shara, I'm so glad. I was so worried...I-I couldn't think of how to save you and so I ran..." She said feeling down that she couldn't help Shara but at least she was safe from Kaa now.

"It was wise of you to do so, sister. If you'd stayed rather than ran away, Kaa might have..." Shara made that odd pause again, as if listening to something...
Kaa chuckled to himself in the branches above. One useful trick he'd learned is that different animals heard on different frequencies. His hissing whisper was so high-pitched that to Shanti it was inaudible, but to Shara, it was a subconscious whine, blending with the noises of the jungle yet audible to her unguarded subconscious...
"No, he would most certainly have easily ensnared you once again. Your only option was to run, Shanti, you could never hope to resist Kaa like I can. That's why you've had to flee, after all, since you're ever sssso vulnerable to his... Hypnossssisss." Shara looked dazed for a second, then shook her head, as if clearing it. "But now that we've been able to say goodbye properly, I must return to the tigerlands as soon as possible. Return to us one day precious sister, when you're older." The tigress purred, putting a paw around Shanti and nuzzling under her chin, herself again one last time before she had to leave.

Shanti noticed Shara pausing and was about to tell her sister to not talk about it if she was scared or worried but then Shara resumed her conversation and noticed her sister was slurring the word hypnosis...Something wasn't right.
Still when Shara hugged her, Shanti decided not to bring it up...She wanted her sister to be safe...Away from here, she put a smile on her face "hopefully sister...You stay safe" she said hugging Shara tightly before letting her go.
