Ryan smiled as Chris took his advice to heart. Aside from rocks, stones, and tree branches, creeper vines lurked in the canopy, ready to snatch up any unsuspecting passer-by for soft squeezes and tickles. Ryan was familiar with them, having been swept off his own feet by the touchy-feely tendrils at some point in his life. But they were not close to the shore, nor where they nearby, so Ryan and Chris could breathe easy.
"Ten points, Chris. I am British." Ryan revealed, emphasised by his accent. "It is my home. Or.... was my home. I’ve been on this island since I was 8 years old. Plane crash." The British man-cub spoke, looking over his shoulder.

Chris was unaware of these “creeper vines.” In fact, Chris wasn’t aware tay this jungle harbored all sorts of unknown creatures, both harmless and dangerous. But Ryan would fill him in later. “Oh. I’m sorry about that” Chris said, regaining some composure. “No kid should go through that alone. But look at you, strong and healthy. I’m impressed you learned to survive” Chris admitted, showing fascination for Ryan’s accomplishments. Chris stood tall and straight, towering over the jungle. The man’s nature and personality was shining through, and coming back in bits of pieces. While his memories of his life were gone, Chris knew in his heart and soul he liked order and peace and that he was a serious, no-nonsense guy that got straight to the point.
“I don’t think I came by plane. Or boat since there wasn’t a wreckage on the beach. I still don’t know how I came here” Chris said in his deep voice. “I’m American. I think. I just don’t know where I’m the country. And...where are we going?” Chris asked, after walking for a few hours.

"If it wasn’t for the wolf pack, I’d be long gone, Chris. They taught me everything on how to be survivor out here." Ryan revealed, remembering the early years he spent with the pack before he began to grow and became the fearless, brave, and handsome jungle man he was meant to be. Eventually, he and Chris began to move deeper and deeper into the jungle as early morning segued into early afternoon.
"We’re heading to the island’s main village. It’s a day or so away.” Ryan revealed, knowing that he and his new friend faced potential dangers along the way.

Chris also noticed the sun begin to change position. The day went from morning to late afternoon, but thankfully the canopy shielded the pair from the harsh sun rays. Still, that didn’t prevent the amount of sweat Chris was producing as he followed Ryan deeper into the jungle. While the military man wasn’t tired, and now more than ever thankful for his change to a brown loincloth, he admit it was hard work to travel through the jungle bare foot for long hours. Hearing Ryan’s story, things began to click and make sense. “So that’s what that tattoo means” Chris said, ducking slightly to avoided a branch. “So how old are you?” He asked.
Hearing the news of a village excited Chris. There were other people! Maybe someone knew who he was, or could help him get home....wherever that is. “A day huh? Well, I’m grateful that your here to help and guide me” Chris said giving his appreciation to his new friend. Chris was already memorizing the trails and trees, and for some reason knew that they were heading east. “Must be the military training he mumbled. “So I’m assuming we’ll take a break for the night. Where do you sleep?” He asked the jungle man.

"Anywhere that’s comfortable. And safe from any predators." Ryan revealed, looking back over his shoulder at Chris. More questions than answers was what he seemed to be getting. "And I’m 23 years old, so I’ve still got a long way to go." Eventually, the duo reached a small clearing. One that was hidden away from the many prying eyes of the island.
The learning had a series of large trees with hammocks made out of vines and leaves attached to them, a few feet off the ground, but not too high. "Out of sight, out of mind. Nobody knows about this place but me.” Ryan revealed.

23?! That means Chris was 5 years older than his new friends. But strangely, he felt no shame that he was being helped by someone younger. Chris was not a prideful person and was grateful Ryan has taken the time to rescue and teach him. And as the minutes turned to hours, the sun began to set, and soon the sky turned a peaceful orange and pink, on the verge of being overtaken by the moon. Chris knew night was near, so he ended his questions. The newly jungle man was tired. Of course with a military background and body like his, Chris was able to make the day journey without any breaks. But still he was covered in sweat and his feet sore from trek so he was excited to see the hidden clearing with hammocks.
“Thank you Ryan. You’re secrets safe with me” Chris said, promising not to reveal his jungle man friends hidden resting point. While Ryan seemed preoccupied with something Chris walked over to a hammock and tested the materials. The leaves and vines were soft, and would hopefully hold a man of his weight. Then, Chris took notice to the fruit growing nearby, reminding him that he was hungry: very hungry. Chris swiftly climbed the tree, and pulled off the bunch of bananas. Even though he wasn’t too far up, the 28 year old man cub was he climbed as easily as he did. “Must be more military training” he thought. Chris would do well in the jungle, his former skills already being useful as he climbed back down and landed with a rather large thud onto the ground. “I have food if you’re hungry. I want to repay you back Ryan, for all your help” Chris explained, as he carried two thick bunches of bananas under his strong and bulging arms.

Ryan watched as Chris climbed the tree with relative ease. Like the many primates that used the canopy, his new American comrade effortlessly scaled the vast trunk like it was a mere obstacle course. The British man-cub never had the luxury of military training - having grew up with his lupine comrades on the islands of Eden until he was able to fend for himself.
"Thanks. I could use some sustenance." Ryan added, accepting a bunch of bananas from Chris.

“Yea, no problem” Chris said, as he passed a bunch of the fruit into Ryan’s strong arms. He wanted to repay the British man cub for befriending and guiding him. And as the sun set and the late evening turned to night, the American jungle man got to work and built a fire with ease, at an oddly rapid pace. More of Chris’s former military skills showed as he gathered wood, used rocks to kindle a flame, and fanned it with leaves to keep it going. “Sorry, I...I guess I know how to make a fire” Chris chuckled as he sat down, sighing with relief was he gave his bare feet a rest. He would not have a problem surviving in the wild island.
“You don’t live in the village?” Chris said after some time, going through 10 bananas first. He didn’t realize how hungry he had been, but eating was essential to keep a muscular body like his in shape. “Aren’t you lonely by yourself out here?” Chris asked, throwing another peel behind him. The only light now came from the fire in front of the jungle men, which burned bright to repel bugs and scare away floor predators.
But one predator (up in the trees) saw the light in the night, and slithered closer to investigate...

With night now settling in, Ryan’s blue eyes observed just how hungry Chris was as he went through ten bananas. It had been quite the day for the former US soldier, but the question to Ryan remained. Does the British man-cub live in the village? Or the jungle,
"Long story short, Chris. I prefer the jungle. Sometimes I stay at the village, but only when the mood hits me," The British jungle lad revealed. "I’ve got more than enough friends out here to company. One of them being Lucy the elephant. She’s like a protective big sister to me. And she always likes picking me up and holding me in her trunk."
The duo were unaware of a new predator up in the canopy, spying on them.

Chris listened intensely, as he wolfed down another banana. In the morning he’d have to ask Ryan for other food sources but for not the fruit hit the spot. “So you switch back and forth? I guess that makes sense if you enjoy both places. You seem like you’d be able to handle yourself on our own” the former American soldier commented. This was an acknowledgement of Ryan’s toned frame and clear survival skills. Chris respected the British dweller as a man of the jungle.
“Lucy huh? Wait...you spend time with the wildlife?” This intrigued Chris as he thought elephants were private creatures. While he did have amnesia, only his memories were gone. Not basic facts or knowledge. “Seems like this Lucy is very...playful if she grabs you with her trunk. Are there any other animals you spend time with?” Chris asked, wanting to know about his new home. The beefy jungle man was trying to gather information about the environment around him, and wanted to know if there were any dangers he needed to be aware of, since jungles were infamous for harboring dangerous wildlife. Another useful military skill he unknowingly was showing.

"Lucy’s very playful, Chris. She’s also very caring." Ryan smiled, remembering the moments he spent with the elephant, and how she held him in her trunk like a teddy bear when he spent a night in her den. "Then there’s the local wolf pack. I visit them every month or so. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here right now."
Above, the hidden predator listened to this conversation. "Aside from big cats, monkey’s, birds, there’s also a few hypno snakes I know." He revealed, munching on a banana.

Chris ended his eating, deciding he didn’t want to be distracted while his new friends gave important information. Chris leaned in, hands on his lap as he slouched a little, a serious look descending on his the man’s face as he continued to listen. “So the animals enjoy spending time with you two? You have a relationship with them. Things must be different here” Chris said, understanding the dynamic. The animals seemed to care about and even helped humans. And as Ryan described his bond with the wolves and Lucy, the American man cub decided not to ask any more question as this was the normal here.
Hearing Ryan explain the predators of the Island, the newly jungle man paid extra close attention, making note of every creature until- “Wait I’m sorry can you repeat that? Hypno snakes? Is that some sort of species? Are they venomous?” Chris asked. “Hypno...As in hypnosis?”

"Long story short, Chris, but yes. Hypnosis." Ryan revealed, confirming this question. "They’re not venomous. They use hypnosis to help people relax. I know at least a few. Two females and one male."
The jungle lad cast his mind back to the time when he was 18 and a curious male snake encountered him.....

Chris pondered at what Ryan just told him. Snakes? That could hypnotize? “Humans? I mean, it makes sense for snakes to mesmerize their prey...but I’ve never heard of a snake hypnotizing a human? Or maybe I have? I guess I don’t remember with my amnesia so maybe I just forgot?” Chris was trying to wrap his mind around how a snake could hypnotize a human. It seemed to unreal and farfetched to the logical minded man. “How do they do it? With their tail” Chris chuckled, allowing himself to laugh at his own joke. Ryan would notice Chris didn’t laugh much.
“You’ve been caught by one? How? Can you tell me about the time?” Chris asked, now very invested in the conversation. He wanted to know as much as possible. However, Chris was still thinking of a 5 foot snake. Little did he know these species were much much bigger. But Ryan would tell him that.

"I’ve been caught plenty of times, Chris. Comes with the territory when you’re walking through the jungle during the day." Ryan chuckled, dropping a banana peel on a pile nearby. "I was 18 years old and had just left the wolf pack. As Bagheera was taking me to the village, we spent the night in a tree. That’s when 'he' appeared.”
That "he” was Kaa, the notorious python who had his own subtle little ways of seducing his prey. Ryan remembered how Kaa used his large eyes to hypnotise him, planting relaxing and soothing messages into his soul before wrapping his long and sinuous body around the man-cub’s torso. Had it not been for the timely intervention of the panther, Ryan would of been spirited away by Kaa for his own nefarious purposes.
