The still dripping wet Ryan felt Selena’s tail tighten around his torso as she slithered out of the water and up her tree, carrying him. To an objective outsider, it appeared the python had ensnared the mancub for some devious fun. But there was no danger for Ryan. At least not now. He gently ran his hands along the scales of Selena’s tail.

Once the snake settled on the tree, she held Ryan in her coils and just looked at him for a moment.
"I'm not sure why, but something about this feels... oddly familiar," Selena said.

With Selena’s long body curled around a sturdy branch, Ryan felt her kind eyes upon him as her coils held him gently in mid-air. Something maternal was stirring in the python, but the jungle boy was confused by her statement,
"How do you say that?" Ryan asked, feeling her soft underbelly scales gently pressing into his torso.

Selena thought for a moment. "How long have you been in this jungle?" she asked.

"Since I was 8 years old - a plane crash took my real parents." Ryan revealed, beginning to tell his painful jungle journey. He could sense Selena’s stance softening.
"I wandered the jungle for hours. Lost and afraid. Until the wolf pack found me." He continued, allowing the python to keep her soft and gentle coils around him.

"Are you so certain it was the wolves who found you first?" Selena wonders.

"Without a shadow of a doubt, Selina. I was scared at first when they found me, but when the alpha female escorted me to to the rest of the pack, I was less afraid. My first 10 years was spent with them." Ryan continued, wondering why the python was questioning the validity of his tale. The jungle lad never lied, and he was honest in his speech.
"They taught me how to hunt, how to defend myself and my new family, and how to be fearless." Ryan smiled, running his hands along Selena’s tail as she held him in her gentle embrace in mid-air.

At that moment, a realization hit her and Selena finally realized what she had forgotten. Selena smiled.
"You are right on all accounts Ryan, save for one." the snake said. "The wolves didn't find you, you were given to them by the one who found you first."

"Wait.... So you’re telling me that...." Ryan spoke, the realisation also dawning upon him regarding the one he met on that fateful night that claimed his parent’s life....
The future jungle boy wandered aimlessly through the dark jungle, lost and scared. Black smoke and flame filled the air as the wreckage of the light aircraft burned behind him. He felt a pair of eyes watching him from afar....

Selena was younger back then and when she saw the black smoke and flames she slithered away. She was long but as much as she will be in the future. Selena was hiding out in a tree once she was far from the flames. The snake spotted a small man-cub and grabbed him by the wrist before pulling Ryan up and placed him on a branch.

Ryan cried out in alarm and fear once something long and smooth wrapped around his wrist and yanked him up into the tree. His plain white t shirt and trousers were tattered and torn, with small marks of smoke and dirt dotting his face and rakish frame.
"S....snake! Don’t hurt me! Please!" He pleaded, his eyes greeted by a python with teal coloured scales that had burgundy markings. He hoped he wasn’t on her dinner menu....

Selena could tell that the boy was very scared and who wouldn't be? The snake was sure he was in that crash, it was amazing how he managed to survive.
"It'sss alright, I won't hurt you," Selena said.
She wrapped her tail tip around Ryan's wrist and rubbed his skin gently.

Ryan’s breathing began to slow once Selena wrapped her tail tip around his wrist and began to gently rub his skin. There was no malice or evil intentions. Just pure kindness from the python. Even as the boy’s fears were still at a fever pitch.
"Y... you won’t?" He asked nervously, her coils feeling smooth on his wrist.

Selena shook her head, "No, it's forbidden. Besides, it looks like you've been having a bad day already." the snake said keeping her tail around Ryan's wrist. "Are you alone though?"

"I....." Ryan stuttered, glancing back at the smoking wreckage behind him from the safety of the trees. A wave of sadness washed over him as he came to the horrifying revelation that his parents had perished in the crash and resulting explosion.
"Yes......" He sniffed, turning back to look at Selena. Her touch around his wrist was almost maternal.
