Eliza nearly collided with Aaron’s thick tail as he came to an abrupt stop. He was staring at his own clawed hands, and for a moment Eliza felt another nervous flutter of fear. Was he reconsidering their agreement? She needed his help far more than he needed hers, after all. His tail moved, and Eliza flinched, but it only swiped some bits of metal out of their way he’d pried out from between his claws, before beginning to slither away again.
After a few more minutes of trekking through the odd, trench shape, Aaron easily slid up the side of gorge, and Eliza hastily clambered up the side, using her hands and feet to hoist herself up the side. Following the direction Aaron was gazing, transfixed, Eliza found herself looking at a strange, stone building. It was odd, circular, smooth, a pale, grey structure in the middle of the deep greens and browns of the jungle. The jungle was slowly starting to overwhelm the structure, a light moss slowly rising up its side, but not quite far enough to cover long splatters of browning blood. Eliza shuddered, doubts rising once again. Was this some strange part of Aaron’s hunt, gaining the trust of his prey should it survive that initial assault, only to smash them in here? It wouldn’t have made much sense to her, but she hadn’t really understood any of Aaron’s decisions.
Then again, she thought, he clearly was leading her towards something. Hoping to learn more about this strange place, Eliza stepped cautiously, walking with Aaron towards the building.
