"I don't know..." Sam said slowly with skepticism in his voice. To be honest, he didn't know if he was doubting Shenon, or himself. He finally picked up a piece of fruit, the same kind that Shenon had just eaten, and held it up close to his face to examine it.
"I didn't know anything like this could grow out here. Why couldn't I have found any while I was lost? That would have helped me quite a bit."

"There aren't too many that grow out here, but many of the cactus' can be eaten. And some berries too like these Christmas berries, however they have to be well cared for before you eat them, or it'll irritate your throat and stomach. Some other times I have to hunt. And the animals do seem to be the best choice for food. That's what I was doing before I found you. I hunt and if I find plant I take it. I might soon go out again. But I stick around since you need some caring."

Her answer putting him at least somewhat at ease, Sam at the fruit he had been holding, and his eyes lit up with enjoyment of the taste.
He then turned his attention back to Shenon. "Thank you for saving me. I hope I wont be a burden to you."

"Please you're not the first I found lost in the desert and you won't be the last. It's almost becoming a habit of mine to be on the lookout if any are alive while I'm out. So how do you feel at the moment?"

Sam tried to roll around one 9f his shoulders, and instantly winced in pain, taking in a sharp breath with his teeth clenched.
"Still pretty sore." he answered. "But not on the brink of death anymore, at least. How long does it normally take to nurse someone back to health? And how do you help them get home?"

"Recovery always varies. You have a few wounds I can see but you don't seem to facing heatstroke or anything close to it. And getting you back depends on where home is. But for now just try to regain your strength. You know for the acing I do have a warm spring. I can take you there when you wish to."

Sam perked up at the very mention of a spring. At that moment, nothing sounded better than warm water soothing his aching muscles. In fact, he already wanted to spend the entire day in it.
"Do you think I could try to get in it now?" he asked, trying to keep his enthusiasm under control to be polite. "If you don't mind helping me get there, that is."

Shenon gives a little laugh, she could clearly see his anxiousness he was trying to hide. Rising from her seat on the bed, she offers a hand ready for whichever type of support he would need. She had seen many people with their needs.

Sam slowly slid his legs toward the side of the bed so he could get out of it more easily, then tried reaching his arm to wrap completely around both of Shenon's shoulders for support. He felt bad that she would have to support any oh his weight at all, not that he weighed a lot anyway.

His was taller than her but she was pretty strong. Not to mention she did carry him on her back all on her own. "I haven't asked your name yet, silly on my part."

Sam chuckled as he shakily stood up, leaning on Shenon to keep from falling. It was equally silly that he hadn't thought to introduce himself.
"My name is Sam."

She repeats his name and then guides him out of the room. After they crossed another room they reached a set of stairs going downward. Shenon then changes her hand's position to get a better grip of his body for if he was having trouble walking, going down a set of stairs will be more of a challenge. "Let's take this slowly."

Sam weakly nodded and used his free hand to grasp the stairs railing for additional support. He took one step at a time, trying to ignore the pain until he got to the spring.

The walk was slow and took twice as long as it would to walk down in normal pace. Yet they didn't lose balance or trip so that made it worth the extra time. Once they were on the flat ground at the bottom Shenon pointed forward. At the end was an arch made of smooth stone like the other sections of the temple. "It's just over there." Passing the arch there was a ring in the floor that went down two feet. The ring was filled with green water that gave off a light steam. It looked almost like a pool, but many anchant caltchers used springs like these for bathing.

Sam tried walking just a little faster, excited by the sight of steam coming up from the spring. Still, he tried not to move too fast. He looked down at his own body, and was reminded of the fact that he was still wearing his tattered clothes.
"You don't mind me sitting in the water dressed like this, do you?" he asked.
