It had been a seemingly relatively normal day in the Indian Jungle. Nature did what it always seemed to do with the inhabitants of this biome following suit. From the herbivores grazing from sun up to sun down, to carnivores stalking and hunting for their prey, everything was by nature's design. And it seemed that this day would progress and flow as it always did without anything interrupting it. Strangely enough however, that wouldn't quite be the case in the end as a stranger ended up wandering into it this day...
Despite nature having it's own design and food chain, there were still those that would venture into the jungle for various reasons, but never stayed long. Most people were smart enough to understand that if you lacked the wisdom and experience to stay long term, it was best to avoid the wilderness if possible. Lest you end up as part of the food chain in...some way. She should have know that. She did understand it to a degree, but...curiosity killed the cat. And it might ultimately get her too...
As the sun began to flow into the western horizon, a Japanese girl by the name of Emiko was wandering down a rather lonely jungle trail. It was clear just by looking from her that she wasn't a local, or even an experienced hiker. Everything from her wardrobe to how she carried herself spelled novice. And that meant a possible opportunity for any animal who happened upon her... How did she get like this? Wandering the Jungle so close to night seemingly so lost?
When she thought back, Emiko could remember how all of this started with a simple fascination with India that developed years ago. Receiving exposure from different sources of media and entertainment, something about the Indian culture had sparked quite the interest in her heart. It was difficult to say if it was the flashy, colorful fashion of the people, the religious observance of Hinduism, the cultural and lively festivals they had, or even just the rich history of civilizations that came and went...she didn't know. All she knew was that she had grown fascinated by the Indian subcontinent. That fascination started it all.
Over time - years of indulgence - Emiko had grown to love the idea of this land more and more. Through everything she read and watched, a strange ideal formed in her head what it would be like to be a part of that society. And that idea, deeply romanticized at this point - is what gave birth to the motion to go visit this place. Granted, it was more her idea to possibly find an opportunity to actually LIVE there. But for the time being, simply finding a way to visit was a good start and would show itself soon enough.
That opportunity to visit did indeed come when the college that Emiko was attending decided to take part in a sort of student-exchange program. It was a simple program that saw students from overseas being given the chance to visit and experience the lifestyles of others abroad. It was a temporary program with only a two week limit in the end, and she wouldn't be the only one going. But when given this opportunity, Emiko couldn't pass it up! After filling out the necessary paper-work and packing for her two-week stay, she was on the first flight to India.
When she did finally arrive with the other exchange students, she was so excited. However, she quickly found out that things weren't quite as she had pictured them to be... The place she'd be spending most of her time was...sort of out of the way. In a little rural area by the jungle's edge outside of the big city where most of the action was. It was in this place where she'd be spending most of her time under direct supervision of the staff and with other students.
For the next couple of days, the time she spent there was just...boring. 'Life' in this little part of India was traditional which...should have been fascinating, but it wasn't. It was just communal work with none of the amenities Emiko was use to. After only the third day, Emiko had found herself quite disappointed with how things were going. And on her 'free day', she choose to take a walk around the jungle just to get out a bit. At least she could see something colorful there, right?
Emiko had been given the rundown of what they expected of her... Stay on the trails, don't stray too far, make sure someone knows where you are at all times... The usual lecture anyone would get. Emiko was just going for a walk though... How bad could it really get? That...was around noon... And in the present moment, dangerously close to sunset, Emiko's little jungle walk had seen the girl become hopelessly lost.
She didn't even know how it happened. One minute, she was on the trail admiring the flowers. She stepped off the trail for only a moment to see a flower in the jungle and never found the trail again. Since then, she had just been walking in the hopes of finding...something that would lead her back. But not once did anything show itself. And with it now getting dark, Emiko was in some very serious trouble...
Compounding her situation was her attire which...didn't help her jungle trek at all. Having came out here on the notion of a simple jungle walk, Emiko was dressed quite casually. Her attire consisted of a simple blue dress with knee length skirt and matching short-sleeved blouse with white floral patterns etched into the fabric. Her choice of footwear was equally casual with little more than a pair of black slip-on flats on her otherwise bare feet...
This choice of attire had left Emiko's arms and legs horribly exposed leaving her skin to feel irritated upon brushing against almost anything the jungle had to offer. And her loose clothing often times would get caught on a low hanging branch or shrub that would impede her advance... The only real saving grace was Emiko's choice to wear her long brown hair back in a ponytail which kept her semi-cool and allowed her matching brown eyes to see the pathway ahead. But...dressed in such vibrant colors with a style that just slowed her down...it wasn't really an advantage...
After this long of her frantic attempts to get out of the jungle, it was only when the sun was beginning to set that it dawned on Emiko what time it really was. The realization she wasn't getting out of this situation tonight started to sink in and the reality of having to spend the night in this jungle was...frightening to say the least. Still, as foolish as she had been to come out here in the first place, Emiko wasn't stupid... She knew trying to walk about in the dark was a bad idea... Possibly even a death sentence... So for now, it might not be a bad idea to seek shelter for tonight. Hopefully get home in the morning. But...where to stay...?
It took Emiko a few minutes of pondering to come up with a place of shelter that was feasible. She ruled out sleeping on the ground almost immediately. And with no other structures such as a cave or hollowed out tree, the only real option for her was to rest in the trees. It was a sound idea. Her first of the day, but...getting into one was a challenge...
She took a few more minutes to look around for what seemed like a sturdy tree, and even a few more to find one that she could actually climb. Once she did find such a tree, she did her best to scale it. However...her inexperience showed during this as she'd fail several different times to climb the tree. And even when she did find her rhythm, her attempts to climb up the tree were clumsily hilarious at best. After a while though, she finally made it a safe distance up and found a branch to call home for the night.
As she settled in for the night, she pulled her legs into her chest and hugged them while watching the sun set. It was a pretty picture before her of the golden orb slowly sinking in the sky with the clouds all sorts of pinks and purples around it... A beautiful image that contrasted heavily with her current situation... And she dreaded what would happen with the coming night... But she couldn't stop it, so...what could she do...?
"...All I can really do is just wait out the night and...try to sleep as best as I can..." Emiko would say nervously, mostly to herself... She hugged her legs even tighter as she thought about her situation but tried to keep the hopelessness at bay... "...I hope I can find my way back... I'm sure...someone is out looking for me... I just hope I can be safe and sleep tonight..."
That was her hope... Emiko however had chosen to come out into a place few would venture, and even fewer would stay... She had no idea of knowing what the consequences would be of her actions. But time would tell soon enough...

It would appear that wandering into the jungle was not Emiko's last mistake of the day. Indeed, as secure as this colossal tree seemed at first, in the jungle, things were rarely as they seemed.... For this young visitor was not the only one sheltering in that tree this night. It was already occupied by a particular denizen of the jungle, one who any sensible creature would avoid at all cost. Sprawled along the upper branches was a colossal female python, over sixty feet of thick reptilian muscle draped across every branch. Her coils were a vivid purple, streaked with pink and scarlet stripes. She was dozing, waiting for night to fall. Waiting for the hunt to begin. As the evening gloom set in, a spade-shaped head began to emerge from the scaly bundle. A long forked tongue extended and tasted the evening air. Known as Marva (by the few who did not end up in her stomach), she was a predator with few to equal her. As well as her sheer bulk and power, enough to squeeze a water buffalo to death with, she had a more sinister ability, one that made her the terror of the jungle. Marva's amber eyes, so cold and calculating, had the power to cast a spell over anyone foolish enough to gaze into them. Making matters worse, unlike most hunters, who would only attack when they were hungry or provoked, Marva had a sadistic streak in her. She enjoyed mesmerizing prey even when she was not hungry, then keeping them for days or even weeks on end, squeezing, toying and brainwashing them to her heart's content. These sinister games nearly always ended with the spellbound victim vanishing down her throat. Fortunately for the inhabitants of the jungle, Marva had spent the better part of a week dozing in her hideaway. The upper branches grew and sprawled in such a way that they formed a “platform” of sorts. Even better, the thick leaves blocked out the view from prying eyes. This had been the perfect place for Marva to spend a sojourn with a naive adolescent wolf. The headstrong pup had fallen under her spell and provided her with much entertainment as she toyed with his helpless body and mind. And once she had grown bored, the mesmerized mammal had nourished her while she slept. Now that he had been digested, Marva was ready to hunt again. She unwound three loops of her body from the branch she was wrapped around, getting ready to slither through the treetops, searching for the next unfortunate - ! But wait, what was this? Marva's tongue lapped the air. She had already caught a scent. It tasted familiar and yet ... exotic, somehow. And was it ... in her tree of all places? A voice carried up through the leaves. A soft voice, tinged with fear. It spoke of trying to sleep, of finding one's way back, of hoping someone was looking for them.
And then Marva heard the words that told her she simply must investigate. Whoever this lost lamb was, they were looking for somewhere safe to sleep.
Poking her head through the leaves, Marva cast her wicked gaze upon ... ... a girlcub. A lost, helpless, delicccccccious girlcub. Marva couldn't get a proper look from this angle, but she could see enough to know this was not one of the 'cubs from the village. The hair atop her head was brown rather than jet black, and from the sight of her legs and hands wrapped around her knees, it was clear her skin was paler than the residents of the village. Of course. This wanderer tasted like a mancub, but her foreign origins added an exotic flavour.
Marva's long tongue licked the air some more. She tasted sweat and fear. This foolish girlcub had clearly been wandering for a long time. The heat would no doubt have exhausted her. Her sharp ears also caught the note of apprehension in the girl's voice, beneath the vain attempt to sound composed.
This girlcub was lost, alone and scared. She was hoping to find salvation. Instead she had found Marva.
Marva had to have her. Marva would have her.
However much of an ordeal this girlcub had been in until now, it was nothing to what was coming.... But first, introductions. 'Excussssssse me,' Marva purred, remaining hidden beneath the leaves for the moment, her voice as slow and soft as possible so as not to put the girlcub on her guard. 'Might I be of some asssssssisssssssssstanccccce, hmmm?'

As the sun continued to set over the horizon, Emiko had fallen totally silent. She sat in her huddled position doing her best to keep a positive attitude and keep any sort of negative thoughts at bay. But...it was proving quite difficult to do considering her circumstances... And that was becoming even more difficult with the shadows of darkness beginning to take over the jungle... The changing scenery seemed to bring out her fears. And that naturally started to shift the tone of her thoughts...
At this point in time, Emiko couldn't help but let her mind wander onto several different things. A series of 'what ifs' and 'now whats' made up the most of her thoughts with her beating herself up at her previous stupidity, and fearful of what was to come... She felt so down that she was foolish enough to stray off the jungle path for even just a second. And as lost as she was, Emiko wasn't oblivious to the fact that she might not make it out of the jungle in one piece... There was a real possibility that she could be saved, maybe. But...she would only be noticed missing now at evening row call, and the villagers wouldn't hunt for her in the dark, would they...?
The reality of her situation was that it was desperate right now, and she knew it... It was a snowballs chance that anyone was out here looking for her right now. And if she had any hope of even making it long enough to being rescued, she'd have to step up and make some proper decisions. Given her lack of experience however, and poor judgement at the start of this...she wasn't feeling all that hopeful... That wasn't to say she felt totally hopeless, but...the odds were stacked against her.
What Emiko was most fearful about right now though was how the situation could get any worse. There were a myriad of ways that the situation could deteriorate at any given moment. And she half expected things to get worse before they got any better. What she was expecting to happen though wasn't anything like what was coming her way... The situation was indeed about to take a drastic turn, but in a way that Emiko would never see coming. Especially from the likes of a hungry, hypnotic snake...
In silence, Emiko continued to watch as the base of the sun sunk over the horizon leaving only a glimmer of light left to the jungle. The foliage overhead was so dim now that she didn't even notice when the serpent overhead rustled through the leaves and poked it's head out to get a better view of her. The...constant noises in the jungle also masked Marva's sound meaning that the python was able to observe her with Emiko oblivious to it all. Her eyes were just on that sunset for now, lost in her thoughts. At least...for the moment...
It wasn't all that long when Marva decided to make an introduction which...Emiko wasn't prepared for. At first when Marva spoke, Emiko blinked a bit in surprise. Someone...was speaking to her? At first, she thought perhaps the jungle heat had gotten to her and she was simply hearing things. Some...wishful thinking, as it were. But when the creature continued to speak offering assistance, Emiko became more curious.
Someone...really was speaking to her. But it was so soft that she couldn't make out the source of it. She started to look around curiously hoping, praying even that she really had heard the voice of someone. However, everywhere she looked, there was no one to be found. No one on the ground, or...around the tree with her. Was she just hearing things after all?
"...H-hello? Is...someone there?" Emiko asked curiously, still looking about for the source. "...I'm...I'm a little lost right now, and don't know where I am. I'm trying to find my way back, but...I don't know where to go..."

If Marva had been curious before, she was now chomping at the bit to get her coils around this tasty visitor. While some of her victims would become defensive or even hostile towards a mysterious voice, this girlcub was answering as if Marva was some friendly fellow wanderer.
It would be cruel indeed to disabuse her of that notion.
'You poor thing,' Marva crooned, 'that must be so worrying for you ... to feel lost and alone ... without a friend to watch over you ... without someone you can trussst ...'
Marva continued to speak slowly and softly, the better to get Emiko used to the sound of her voice. She played down on her serpentine sibilance, though couldn't resist drawing out a final “ssss.” Marva enjoyed pouring every apsect of herself into her “performances”, whether it was her eyes, the movement of her coils, or her seductive voice.
'I would hope to provide you with some shelter but ... only if you trust me to do so. Tell me first, what is your name, little one?'

When the voice spoke back to her again, it was sort of a relief to Emiko in a way. Mostly because it helped her to realize that she wasn't crazy or just hearing things out of wishful thinking after all! But it also sparked relief in the sense that she thought she might be saved. Or at least...it was a growing hope that she might. Yet, as relief and hope rose within her, she felt uneasy at the same time...
The voice of Marva was gentle and warm. Filled with the tone of someone that seemed to really care and be concerned about her well being. However, that voice was still just a phantom in the wind as Emiko still couldn't detect the source of it... It seemed to resonate everywhere within the tree, and Emiko would end up looking about all over for some sort of sign as to where the stranger was to no avail.
"...My name? My name is Emiko..." The bewildered girl would say aloud, still looking about for wherever the stranger was... "...And...who are you? Could you...really help me get out of this situation? I really want to go back home..."
As Emiko spoke, she tightened the grip around her knees remaining ever vigilant for wherever the stranger might be. She was certainly willing to do whatever it took to get out of her struggle. She just didn't know exactly what that would entail, or even considered the prospect of. As naive as she was, her only thought was on finding this stranger and learning what she could to be saved. Simple things for a situation that was growing more complex by the minute...

She sounded so lost, so frightened, so helpless. Only the blackest of hearts could not be moved by poor Emiko's plight.
Licking her scaly lips, Marva pushed her head closer to where the leaves broke. She would have to play this very cool so as not to frighten her “guest” away.
“I would be only to happy to help you, my child,” maintaining those smooth, silky tones. “But before I reveal myself, I must ask that you do not take fright. There are few in this jungle who.... understand me. They shun me for who I am, and so I am always wary when approaching newcomers. Do you give me your word that when you see me, you will hear me out?”
Watching as the girl hugged her knees adorably, Marva felt this could go either one of two ways. Either Emiko would be so frightened at the sight of Marva that she would scramble down the the tree in a flash and Marva's next meal would be gone. On the other hand, the girlcub may be so desperate for help that she would put her trust in this new “friend” of hers. Who knows, the girl may have a kind soul and would take pity on the snake – a fatal possibility which rested now on the choices Emiko made.

Marva's request was one that...Emiko honestly couldn't understand fully. She couldn't comprehend what could possibly be wrong with this stranger as to frighten others around her. What was it about her that made it difficult for others to understand her...?
As Emiko thought it through, her mind naturally went to some of the cliche sort of scenarios... Perhaps someone with an abnormal appearance and shunned by society as a whole... Or, considering that this individual lived so deep in the jungle seemingly by herself, maybe a witch, or someone who preferred isolation and privacy? There were so many reasons why, but it never dawned on Emiko one time that it might be because the individual speaking to her was far from human...
Whatever the case was, Emiko didn't care what this individual looked like. At least, not right now... If this woman was willing to help her get out of this jungle and back to safety, it was worth it. She could look past appearances if it meant that her situation could come to an end and she could get rescued. Anything seemed worth paying for that outcome.
"...I...I don't quite understand, but I'll try to look past any...abnormalities and hear you out." She'd say with a combination of hope, and fear both in her voice. "...I just want out of this jungle... If you can help me with that, I'm willing to do almost anything..."
It was difficult to say how Emiko's reaction might be when Marva finally did reveal herself. If she decided to actually take the girl at her word and show who she truly was. Emiko was certainly determined to do whatever it took to get out of the jungle. But, depending on what happened next, that resolve could very well be put to the test.

As you wish....
Slowly, so as not to startle the girl, but not so slow as to give her time to rethink her situation, Marva slipped her head down beneath the leaves and got her first proper look at her visitor.
It was a perfect set up. The vanishing rays of sunlight lit up Emiko's seat, bathing the human in a golden-turned-to-purple glow.
With her defensive posture, however, Emiko wasn't revealing much beyond her bare legs, her feet encased in curious coverings, and her pale face with large eyes. What little the serpent did see, however, pleased her greatly. The girl's form would fit perfectly in Marva's snug grip and those staring eyes would look even more fetching when drowing in spirals....
If only Marva could now gain the girlcub's confidence....
She gave Emiko a chance to react as she slowly pulled more of her body from the canopy, hanging in front of Emiko in three “zig-zags” of coils. For all her eagerness, Marva didn't want to reveal the full extent of herself until she had lured Emiko into a more relaxed, trusting state. “Yesssssssssssss my dear,” she said with a heavy nod, “not what you were exxxxxxxpecting, hmmmm?”

Emiko wasn't exactly sure what this stranger was going to look like. Her mind had all sorts of ideas with some romanticized thanks to multimedia she had been exposed to back home. A...bit of a problem in her first-world home. But all images she envisioned were humanoid in nature. She never in a million years would have expected what she saw next...
As Marva slithered her head down from the foliage up above to reveal that of a snake-head, Emiko was immediately shocked. She nervously gasped aloud, and clung her arms around her knees tighter. Her eyes widened with the shock, and her mouth fell agape. She were quite literally in a state of terror with panic seeming to run through her body. However, she was frozen with fear which...kept her from doing anything other than cowering seemingly paralyzed for the moment.
Emiko was so petrified that she didn't even take notice of the snake eyeing her up and down getting a good look at her. Nor did she have any sense at all to think about what might be going through the creature's mind right now. All she could seem to do was stare in terror, and sit frozen in that fear trying to comprehend what she was seeing. Things only got worse though...when Marva started talking before her.
Strange as it was to say, with the initial terror, Emiko had momentarily forgotten that she were speaking to someone just seconds earlier. And being reminded that she wasn't alone with a silent being just...totally overwhelmed her senses and her mind. Fear of a snake paralyzed her, and now hearing that it could talk just...stunned her in total disbelief...
There was a brief moment where Emiko thought perhaps she was going insane, or at the very least hallucinating due to the heat she had suffered. However, everything felt too real to brush off as that. And it was only after a rather lengthy, silent pause that Emiko did finally speak. When she did however, her words were far from clear just going to show how...stunned she was.
"...You are... How can...? That's...impossible... Snakes can't...talk... But...you're here...? You're...doing that? How...How is this happening!?"

Now the most delicate part of the operation. Marva needed to woo Emiko into trusting her, or at least not panicking to the point of trying to flee.
“I know you are ssssssscared, little one,” she cooed. “I imagine you are taught to fear snakes where you come from, and that you are not taught that we can ssssssspeak.”
Marva chanced dropping her head down closer to the branch, but still keeping a safe distance so Emiko would not feel threatened. She curled her head back up so that her head and neck now formed a question mark. In so doing, she cast a shadow over the frightened girl. The same dying sunlight which illuminated her pretty companion now shone behind Marva, forming a halo which contrasted nicely with her shimmering purple coils.
Marva had considered simply looking into Emiko's eyes and sending out those captivating spirals which would no doubt have captured the girl's mind quickly. But where would be the fun in that? Hungry as she was, she wanted something to play with before her meal, and luring this naive tourist into her embrace would be a most stimulating game.
And so began the next phase of Marva's strategy. As she continued to speak, using the same honeyed tones as before, the powerful pythoness began to sway slightly -
“But think of it this way ....” - listing her head from side -
“...I cannot help being what I am ...” - to side -
“... no more than you...” - sending flickers up her body -
“...can help being human ...” - showing off her powerful coils, demonstrating their power but also ...
“... I alsssso cannot help ssssspeaking...” - their flexibility -
“... no more than you can.” - lulling Emiko into staring deeper, without realising she was staring!
“And furthermore...” This more subtle form of hypnosis -
“... I cannot help what prejudicccccces ....” - coupled with Marva's amber eyes -
“... and preconcccceptionssss...” - and honeyed voice -
“... you have been taught in your ...” - would sneak past Emiko's defenses -
“... dare I sssay ...” - until the poor girl's resistance -
“... sssssssheltered life...” - was gradually eroded away.

After the initial shock and fear hit her of what Marva was and capable of, Emiko's frantic mind started to come back down from an overwhelming, confusing high. That wasn't to say she was calming down from the experience. Quite the opposite, in fact... She was more able to form more coherent thoughts and words if she could find the strength to speak at all.
As Marva lowered her head and positioned it to around Emiko's level, the timid girl clung to her legs even tighter. There was a noticeable shiver about her body, and a quiver in her lip that she couldn't control. Emiko really was scared of snakes. And one that could talk defied all reason for being something she had never known possible to exist! The poor girl was certainly cowering right now, but things would gradually change as they moved forward one way or the other...
For the time being, Marva kept her distance which kept Emiko from fleeing in the total fear. Instead, she started to just sway gently from side to side. Moving in gentle, soft motions that made it easy for the frightened girl to watch. It didn't exactly take away her fears, but...somehow the gentle motions of Marva's sways were comforting. If only in that they didn't show a threatening creature ready to strike.
Still quivering, still quiet, Emiko watched the snake sway and listened to what she had to say. She heard the snake mention how she couldn't change what she was anymore than Emiko could stop being human. And, despite her fears, Emiko was able to detect a faint hint of spite in the last few statements of Marva's words. About prejudices and preconceptions due to the life she had known back home...
When Marva said that, something within Emiko felt a little guilty. Fear mostly remained within her, and still saw her clinging to her legs tightly in a sort of defensive pose that protected nothing and made her look weaker. But...there was a hint of sorrow in her as well that made her feel sorry for acting so frightened and surprised towards Marva... She couldn't help it, and didn't mean to act this way.
"...I...I didn't mean to...j-judge you..." Emiko would speak with a noticeably weak, and shaky voice. "...I just...Snakes have always...scared me... And I thought it was impossible...that they could speak... I just...don't understand how it's possible..."

As much as her sadistic side enjoyed her prey's terror, Marva was worried of frightening Emiko away if she pressed too far too quickly. She would have enjoyed teasing the girl more, perhaps stroking her with her coils to induce Emiko into a more relaxed state. But all that shivering made Marva wonder if she should cut to the chase soon.... “I know you cannot help your fear,” she continued in that soft voice, adopting a warm, motherly tone. “I merely assssssk that you look beyond it ...” Marva slowly moved her face closer to Emiko's, still weaving her head gently to and fro. As she curled and swayed before her guest, Marva allowed her voice to lilt back and forth, adding to the gentle “to and fro” motion of her head. “I know you must feel ssssscared .... losssssst ... helplessssssssss..... But in truth, my dear .... you have more sssssay in thissss than you imagine .... You can choose whom to trussssssssst .... whom to lissssssten to.....” She put extra emphasis on the word "trust". That was the key word she needed to plant in Emiko's subsconscious, the idea that with Marva she would be safe, cared for and protected. Marva dared moved closer. A gentle breeze plucked at Emiko's hair, blowing her warm, succulent scent toward's she serpent's nostrils. Oh what a feast she would be! “You can lissssssten to your fear ..... to your doubtsssss......”
By now, Marva was close enough that Emiko's wide, terrified eyes filled her gaze, and she knew her own eyes were boring into the hapless girlcub - “... or you can choose to trussssssssssssssssst..... choose to believe ...” - as Marva's head kept swaying - “ ... lissssssssten to your heart .... you mussssst need companionship, no? How else will you find your way home ...?” - swaying so close now, her head was almost touching Emiko's forehead. “ ... look into my eyessss ... do you really believe you cannot trusssssssssssssssssssssssssst meeeee ...?”

The fear Emiko felt was difficult to ignore. Even without Marva really doing anything threatening, she couldn't shake the fearful feelings inside of her all that easily. And yet, there was something calming about the way Marva spoke, and swayed. She hadn't noticed it yet, but her gentle movements were soothing in a way and helped her to not feel so frightened. Granted, it didn't erase her fears entirely, or even quickly, but it was something...
As Marva gently moved herself closer towards Emiko, the frightened girl found her ears abnormally attuned to the serpent's words. Perhaps it was the soft, motherly tone she took, or just the general extension of her words in her hisses. Whatever the case, she couldn't ignore what Marva was saying. And listening to her words with her gentle tone kept her calm enough for Marva to approach as she had.
Her words were more or less spoken to help Emiko feel like she wasn't as powerless as she thought. Though, for some strange reason, the serpent put a strong emphasis on the word 'trust'. The way she had, Emiko couldn't stop herself from letting that word float around in her mind a little bit. And somehow, just that act alone was enough to sway her into falling into that word?
It didn't make sense, nor did it fully change her opinion of things. Yet, somehow, Emiko had grown a bit calmer and allowed Marva to come a little closer. The serpent took the 'inch' Emiko had allowed, and used it to try and speak more things into her. Even going so far as to emphasize that word 'trust' again. And like before, it floated in her mind and influenced her actions...
She had calmed even more now to a point of no longer quivering in utter terror. The fear was still there, and Emiko still clung to her legs against her chest firmly. However, she didn't quake anymore even as Marva move to their foreheads almost touching. To be this close to a talking snake and show no visual fear? It...was an amazing change of pace... It didn't stop there though...
Marva took this opportunity to instruct Emiko to look into her eyes to which...she did. A bit shyly perhaps, but doing so without missing a beat showing there was a submissive heart inside of her. But when asked if she trusted Marva, Emiko was lost for words... The word itself floated in her mind, and she was inclined to say that she did. However...did she really trust the snake...?
"...I...I don't know if I can trussst-I...I mean, trust you or not... It's not that I can't, or don't want to... I just..." She fumbled with her words, doing her best to try and explain. "...This is all so foreign to me... I don't...know you, really... And I'm so...out of my element here..."

“I know exxxxactly how you feel,” Marva continued, rolling her head in circles around the pivot of her neck, her gaze now fastened on Emiko's eyes. It pleased her when the girl looked into her eyes so easily. It seemed their was a submissive side to this girlcub, one Marva could exploit if she played her cards right.
“I know little of humankind, and what little I know would make me shun your kind ....” Marva's head moved in greater and greater circles, keen to see if Emiko would follow suit. She noted the girl's arms were still gripping her legs, something that would make wrapping her up difficult.
“And yet, sssssuddenly I find a little human has climbed into my tree and made herself at home.... quite the novelty for one sssssuch as me.....”
Marva swept her head more through the dusk light, which had now taken on a dark purple hue. Her pink and purple coils practically shone in the growing moonlight, creating a display almost as hypnotic as her yet-to-be-deployed eyes.
She swept her head back, then swam forward through the air, her eyes stopping inches from Emiko's pretty face. “It seeems you and I both musssssst learn to trusssssssssssst each other if we are to ssssssssssurvive thisssss night....” Marva said in a soft whisper.
So animated was Marva in her dance now, the rest of her body was becoming more excited. As she swept back towards' Emiko, a section of her coils brushed against the girl's bare legs. What reaction would come from this involuntarily movement would be revealed only with time, but in the meantime, Marva decided to experiment how long she could hold the girl's gaze without assistance from her infamous spirals.

Emiko did indeed have her eyes focused rather intently onto Marva's. Originally, this was due to fear and wanting to be cautious of the creature she saw. But as time went on, her reasons for staring started to have less to do with caution, and more with just not being able to help herself. She was still quite cautious, that was certain. But...she had other reasons for staring into Marva's eyes beyond just fear even if she couldn't explain what it was yet.
Marva might find it a bit surprising, and even welcome as Emiko maintained eye contact even as her movements started to become a bit faster, and wider. She'd move in gentle circles while still swaying too and fro. And Emiko surprisingly maintained eye contact the entire time. Just...watching her move as she did, and listening to her words.
It was a surprise to Emiko to hear that Marva didn't really care for mankind all that much, and that it was unusual for someone to come waltzing up to make themselves at home in her tree. A twinge of guilt filled Emiko's soul thinking of that as she never intended to intrude on anything. She just...made a mistake walking off the jungle path, and needed a place to rest until morning... It...still didn't change the situation, however.
After stating that to her, Marva suddenly swept her head forward to stare deeply into Emiko's eyes where the only sign of fear she showed was clinging to her legs a little tighter. Still a fearful response, but not the quaking, shivering reaction Marva had received earlier. This meant that Emiko was getting use to her in some ways, and whatever Marva was doing was working...
Though, Emiko's mind would be on Marva's last statement of them both needing to learn to trust each other to survive tonight. There was that word again...Emphasized so distinctly that Emiko couldn't help but think about it and feel swayed by it again... She was just about to respond when...something brushed against her leg. It was brief and hardly noticeable, but she gasped in surprise.
Emiko looked down to her leg to see a band of coils there before gulping nervously. they didn't seem threatening, but...they had startled her showing that, as comfortable as she was, she wasn't at a comfort level to be wrapped yet. Her eyes did return to Marva's though as she regathered her composure, and addressed the snake for the first time in a casual tone.
"...I never meant to intrude on you... And...I don't mean to come off as rude... I'm not...like other humans..." Emiko tried to explain, showing that she was getting more and more use to this. "...I don't think you're someone I can't trussst-er... trust...But...trust never came easy for me..."
